If you come to Vancouver, you should totally come and see us! We're a tourist attraction! If you're a pwebber, anyway.

And admission to EL and Rei is free! :D

Um... That came out wrong. :?

And we will regale you with intense amounts of dorkery: linguistics, medieval everything, stories of care work and tutoring, sci-fi tv, books, and general geekery. And if I forget to poke Rei when he shows warning signs, there might even be theology.

Jason can tell you, meeting up with us is seriously dorky. I'm still not sure we didn't terrify or appall him.

No way. You were delightful. And I never use that word, "delightful", but it seems appropriate for you guys. I'd definitely recommend an evening with you to other pwebbers.

Dang, I knew it was SOMEwhere.

Oh, and I totally second that EL and Rei are cool people to hang with in real life. We were a bit distracted by our child when we met them, but it was very fun.

I really don't, either, but Jason, you're cool. Apparently, being Canadian automatically makes that the case.

Jan and Jason:

Yes, I DO worry about being overwhelmingly nerdy, and I know Brent and I feed off each other that way, so it's exponentially worse. But I should have remembered how nerdy pweb is in general. :)

And Jan, I was TOTALLY distracted by your then-4-month-old adorable sprog! Ginny was amazing and when Paul zipped her up in his jacket so she could still look out, I died a little from too much cute.

For the record, JL, Caspian, Mini-Caspian, and Jason are all tons of fun to hang out with, too!

I really don't see a resemblance. You should know better than to feed the stereotype that we all look alike. I get enough of that at work.

Not quite. I know a really obnoxious, definitely NOT cool, Canadian male. Unless you were speaking of Canadian pwebbers specifically, in which case, I concur.

Okay, does ANYONE ELSE see the resemblance, other than me, or am I going crazy?
Keep in mind, this is the most serious of matters. If I'm the only one - I will be inclined to lock myself up in a mental institute.

I will isolate myself from the real world, embrace the world of the crazies, and probably end up more insane.

I totally just caught up on this thread, and you lot are all far too kind!

And yes, theology is ever on the tip of my tongue. I generally (occasionally, sometimes, when I think of it) attempt (kind of, a little, sort of) to refrain from getting TOO carried away with it.

Also, Jan, we were all distracted by the adorable small child!

Nope, doesn't look a thing like Jason. I'll commute your sentence to community service, though, on account of the bad lighting in our pic.

Okay, the skin tones aren't the same.

But look at the cheek bones.
Look at the head shape.
The haircut.
They're even wearing similarly colored clothes.

He could probably pass for my cousin or something. (shrug)

But seriously, here's the list of black men I've been told I look like:

Denzel Washington
Eddie Murphy
Michael Vick
Tiger Woods
Tim Russ
Anrde Benjamin (aka Andre 3000)

And various non-celebrities. How can I look like all these men when they don't even look like each other?! I've come to expect this sort of thing from non-blacks, but coming from you, CezeN, it's disappointing. :(

Wow, have fun! The city is MAD during TIFF.

I highly, highly recommend paying a visit to Kensington Market. On Augusta St, about two blocks south of College, there's this place called The Big Fat Burrito. Trust me, the regular size is probably enough. I am SO craving them right now, and I'm stuck out in dreary old BC.

Also call ahead and try to book a meal at Brownstone Bistro on Yonge St (it'll probably be packed for TIFF). They have the best sangria I've found yet!

Let me know what you like to eat, and I can probably direct you to a good (and inexpensive) place for it. The stuff they'll be billing for TIFF as places to eat are stupidly expensive, so ignore them.

Also, when you fly in, don't bother with the shuttle bus. I can tell you how to use the local transit, and it's really really easy.
I am going back in September again. I didn't actually get to take advantage of your suggestions because of how our schedule panned out. We had 9 movies total and everyone saw 5 of them. So everyone was constantly running around and we were always split up. We have a better game plan this year. The Blue Jays are in town that weekend and we are going to try to catch a game. And I most definitely want to check out that Burrito place this time round. Again, any and all suggestions are welcome.
