Pods of cast, Casts of Pod, Podcasts
Anyone else listen to podcasts?
What are your favourites?
My top choices are:
This American Life
Stuff you Should Know
and
Age of Persuasion
(which is on the CBC, but doesn't have an official podcast, so this is the unofficial one)

I used to listen to Harry Potter Podcasts when I was younger and more crazy about the series. My sisters used to listen to Story Nory Podcasts that told fairy tales and fantasy bed time stories about princesses and pirates and magic.
I prefer watching podcasts as opposed to listening to them, cause my eyes get restless. I like little short podcasts on my iPod that feature cooking tips or National Geographic ones with cool animals.

You musn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling.
The only one I listen to is Inside Analog Photo.

I'm ashamed to admit I listen to the Penny Arcade D&D podcasts with great joy every time they make a new one. The old ones can be found here, if anyone is interested. Listening to a real DM really helps me plan out any adventures I'm working on, and listening to good players (which include not just Mike and Jerry, but Scott Kurtz of PVP and Wil Wheaton of Just Being Awesome) helps me come up with antics for my characters to pull off. Plus, they're amazing people.

Out of nowhere I've started listening to a lot of podcasts lately.
My current favorite is The Splendid Table.

you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

I confess I don't even understand podcasts. If I did, I would listen to Kevin and Ursula Eat Cheap.

The only podcast I generally listen to is MuggleCast (not to be confused with the crappier PotterCast).

I also am utterly bored by talk radio, so I have never thought to try podcasts. I have the same feeling about books on tape. I am a very visual learner and not auditory. I cannot pay attention to someone talking AT me (vs someone talking with/to me).

Morning talk shows are not the same as talk radio.
Talk radio = documentaries that you listen to.
Talk radio = stand up comedy that you don't look at.
I just don't understand. Saying you don't like talk radio is like saying you don't like sandwiches... or movies. There are so many different kinds!

Ah. In that case, I guess I've never listened to talk radio and don't even know what station it would here, but I don't like audio books either so don't get your hopes up. Really, the only non-music radio I ever listen to is the occasional baseball game and that's more background noise than anything.

PWEB, I want to reiterate my love for podcasts. They make long car rides, bike rides, and working out so much more enjoyable. I feel much more cultured since I began listening to them. I know way more about current events, history, society, culture, languages, sports...anything I have a passing interest in.
I've been listening to a Learn Mandarin podcast to supplement my Rosetta Stone program that I'm taking in preparation for moving to Beijing (as a side note: I'm moving to Beijing. Short-term at least). Its so helpful!
I also listen to This American Life regularly in case I miss it when it originally airs on NPR. I love that my favorite NPR programs are at my fingertips for free! I can listen to them ANY TIME! And there are tons of podcasts with a similar theme to TAL, so if I haven't satisfied my craving for story telling, I look those up.
I love the history themed ones as well. I'm going to try out some of the 4th of July American History recommended ones on my bike ride today.
I'm in the process of looking for a travel China podcast... haven't found one yet, I'm sure I will though.

I've been listening to The Nerdist, lately. With the right guests, they're terribly amusing.
I also get my Wait Wait Don't Tell Me and The News From Lake Wobegone fixes in podcast form.
I've actually been kicking around the possibility of starting a podcast with a few friends. We've as of yet not nailed down exactly what we'd podcast about, though.

Holy crap, you're moving to Beijing? If Brian and I end up there this fall, it would be crazy cool to meet a pwebber in Beijing!!I've been listening to a Learn Mandarin podcast to supplement my Rosetta Stone program that I'm taking in preparation for moving to Beijing (as a side note: I'm moving to Beijing. Short-term at least). Its so helpful!

We may (or may not) be going for a world record carnival. We're still waiting to hear details and how much $ they'll give us, so we're not really talking about it IRL yet, but pweb gets to know special things.
Why are you moving there?

I've been wanting to get into the Nerdist & go to the live tapings because I figure that could be doubly amusing, but it is always wherever I've JUST BEEN or on completely inconvenient days. As in, in my hometown in two weeks aka when I'm probably moving.I've been listening to The Nerdist, lately. With the right guests, they're terribly amusing.
However, I must confess, I really do like podcasts...as long as they are under 15-20 minutes! I don't understand the super long ones (or why I was once subscribed to over a dozen...)
So don't go worrying about me
It's not like I think about you constantly
So maybe I do, but that shouldn't affect
Your life anymore

my podcast list is embarassingly long, I don't listen to all of them, but I am subscribed to the following:
ESPNU College Football
Everyday Paleo
Freakonomics radio
Livin La Vida Low Carb
Marketplace
Marketplace Money
Planet Money
Pottercast
This American Life
and at times in the past I've been subscribed to Splendid Table, News from Lake Woebegone, Fresh Aire and others, but eventually it gets to be too much. I really should take Pottercast off of subscribed as its been more than two years since I listened to it.

Has anybody listened to the latest This American Life yet, about the PI Moms? It's my favorite so far, I think.
Also, for fellow Game of Thrones people, "Boars Gore and Swords" is really really funny.
