Oh, and also! That guy (the real one, in Sim City) actually kinda scared me as a kid when I lowered transportation funding too much. Like he was really next to be and yelling or something. It didn't prevent me from cutting the transportation funding, but I sure as hell never clicked his advice thing when doing so.
YOU CAN'T CUT BACK ON FUNDING! YOU'LL REGRET THIS!

That guy was a meme in my house, growing up. All of the males in my family loved that game, and we would watch each other play and give each other tips.

We never lowered transportation funding. Ever.

I hit my knee on a door leading to a giant bruise and sore spot.

I rolled my ankle hard enough I fell all the way down.

My throat hurts. It's itchy and scratchy and it burns when I breathe.

I've got mucopurulent discharge coming out my nose and dripping down my throat.

I keep alternating between being too cold and too hot.

I want to take a Sarah day and not go to school tomorrow.

I guess the real confession here is that I think of skipping school for relatively minor illnesses as a Sarah day. Because she does it all the damn time... and I know there are extenuating circumstances, but, suck it up, kiddo and go to school.

Again, this isn't exactly a confession, but since it's my 20-something mother thread, I felt like putting it here.

My Brayden is turning 3 today! He's got the cutest little freckled face. He's funny. When his brother isn't around, he's helpful and loves to read books. When his brother IS around, he's a maniac. I love him so much and I feel so blessed and privileged to be his mother.

Every time I see the top of this page, I want to dig my parents' old Performa out of the basement and play SimCity 2000. I'd probably end up playing SimFarm, SimTower and SimIsle as well.

About 40% of my blog posts are written with alcohol in hand. 20% are written in the middle of the night when I can't sleep. The other 40% are written at work.

I missed a shift at work entirely. I'm not sure how. It *looks* like my handwriting, maybe, on the schedule, but it wasn't written in my planner and I turned down numerous shifts for those days because I booked them off. I really, really wanted those days off, so I don't know how/why I would have agreed to a shift then. At least it was just training, so I didn't leave them short staffed or anything.

Maybe the manager can enlighten me tomorrow.

I've known for years that Eric Stoltz was the original Marty McFly but having seen footage of it recently makes me curious for what the series would have been like had they kept him for the whole thing. It, in fact, makes me wish there had been a way to film both the one we all know and love and a darker, more dramatic one with Stoltz. I think it could have worked out just as brilliantly, for different reasons.

I just paid $14.95 to get all three of my credit reports and scores because I was curious. It is over 900 at all three bureaus. I feel guilty for having such a high score when so many people try so hard to get a higher one. :?

That thread about letters had me thinking.... I really don't like non-immediate/interactive personal correspondence of any kind. It's not that "letters are for old people and luddites", because I hate personal email, too. I once pretty much ignored my personal email account(s) for like a month because I just hated reading through, sorting, and responding to them.

Well, I've done that far more than once, just maybe not for as long as a month those other times. Ugh, I don't know when reading those became such a chore for me.

I'm going to keep this up until either y'all post more or my name is there for every "most recent post" slot on the front page. Fair warning.

Today was the first time I introduced myself with my last name to someone I did not know. I mean, yeah, we got introduced at the wedding a lot and a lot of people who know I got married have asked my new name, but today was the first, "Hi, I'm Kirsten --" and then there was a long pause while my brain reconfigured.

I'm honestly still really ambivalent about the name change.

It's weird, isn't it? I stil go legally by my old name, which confuses people when I want to be addressed by my new name. Who knows. I look forward to changing everything over, when I finally can.

I know that what I just took was an internet test, grain of salt and all, but the fact that I got a 30 and it says this (bold):

Your score: 30
0 - 10 = low
11 - 22 = average (most women score about 15 and most men score about 17)
23 - 31 = above average
32 - 50 is very high (most people with Asperger Syndrome or high-functioning autism score about 35)
50 is maximum

scares the crap out of me. That's 5 little measly points.

And I got a 23 which is in the same "above average" range as you. No worries, babe.

ps - watch the movie Adam and you'll see how very not Asperger's you are.

I got a 10, but I really didn't strongly agree or disagree with much. So maybe that's why it is so low?

Confession 1: I'm almost 20 and still haven't registered to vote.
Confession 2: This doesn't bother me, because I don't care or know enough to do an absentee ballot anyway.
I used to hate gravity because it would not let me fly. Now I realize it is gravity that lets me stand.

I had voter regret while voting. I voted for someone I'd met, someone I'd worked in the same building as and heard a lot about. And after hearing how he treats his staff & such, most people there questioned if they would vote for him.

I still did.
So don't go worrying about me
It's not like I think about you constantly
So maybe I do, but that shouldn't affect
Your life anymore

For some reason, I am right now engaged in a discussion about how Canon Law and Catholic theology would deal with it if one borg converted and then the entire collective followed suit.

... I think I possibly have the nerdiest friends ever.

This is something seriously stupid that I've never, ever grown out of, but it's something that started a long time ago: I tend to treat novels and books and such as if the characters contained therein are actually, like, riding in the book? Or something. And it's a secret, because I know its an embarrassing belief, and I don't really believe it, but I've just done it for so long. I don't really talk to them, but I find myself thinking "Oh, now they probably think that some idiot bought them," or something like that, and then "by now the other books have told them about X". It's so stupid and I can't figure out a way to stop doing it.

It doesn't sound stupid to me AT ALL! I love the idea.

Of course, that is coming from someone who sleeps with a teddy bear every night. And, when Brian and I are doing scripture study at night, sometimes, Bob (the bear) even acts out what's going on, just to add a little spice.
