Could a mod please split off the financial aid talk into a new topic? Thanks!
you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

I dried my hair and put on my makeup in my apartment this morning, rather than in the car. (It's a 30 minute commute. Putting the AC or the heater on high and brushing my hair in the car usually results in reasonably dry hair by the time I get to work.)
This made me quite happy. In particular because this means I'm wearing eyeshadow and mascara today -- fancy eyeshadow, applied with a makeup brush, not just one shade quickly smeared on as I rush out the door. (I do not put on eye makeup while driving, if it's any consolation.) And my hair looks way better than it usually does.
Yes, yes. I know putting on makeup while driving is not the brightest thing I could do and plays into annoying stereotypes of female drivers. I'm really wanting to stop.

I put my makeup on in the car About %80 of the time I know i'll be early for work, so i'll put it on while i'm waiting to go in, but every now and then something makes me late and I end up up putting it on while driving.

I know it's really bad, but for some reason I always go back to doing it instead of just putting it on at home.

Nice!
Today, I was throwing a football around with my friend at Senior Wellness. And a group of athletic guys, some of which I played knock out with earlier in the day, walked by and stopped and talked about how well I was throwing and catching and one guy said "damn, she can throw better than I can." And that absolutely made my day. I love throwing a football!
Also, my little computer tech geeks won the tug-of-war competition over the most athletic guys in school. I was so proud of them, even if they did beat my bus for first..

I got an A in my chem lab. Considering I went into the final with a B+ and maybe got a 70% on that, all I have to say is I love curves.

I woke up early enough to make my mom breakfast before she had to go to work, to walk, feed and water the dogs, to shower and feed myself, and still have 40 minutes to lounge before heading off to work.
I didn't even have to pack my lunch because I did the whole week's on Monday night and took it in on Tuesday. 2-3 servings of fruit each day, walnuts and almonds each day, yogurt every day, and then a different small something or other. And I've been making myself drink 40-60oz of water a day, which is more than I had been since I stopped going to the exercise class.

Se paciente y duro; algún día este dolor te será útil.
Congratz! thats awesome
Ive made myself lunch for the past week, and have gotten up and ready for work BEFORE leaving... instead of doing my make up in the car... Which is one of my worst habbits though i am pretty good at it...
Ive been really good this week! yay!
other random tidbit/ accomplishment: I ran through all of my jumps at skating, and did them well... accept for my lutz... which is the devil.

On Saturday, my mom got a letter in the mail saying that I will be recognized by my school as Student of the Year in mathematics and science on May 11th. I think my morale has recovered.

I'm making plans to do my first official college visit for grad school. *does excited dance* Now, it will probably fall through but whatevs. I'm very familiar with 3 of my top 10ish choices, now to actually see the rest of them!! This one, though, I've been to before, but back when I was 16 and had very different priorities.
So don't go worrying about me

I got my commercial driver learner's permit today. It was shockingly easy, but I guess I'm used to studying for tests. At least I didn't have to think about stupid air brakes.
Also, that was the last pre-req, so in a triumph I'm sure pretty much everyone can understand, I am once again employed. Woot!

Shot a pistol for the first time yesterday on a shooting range. I did not shoot myself in the foot. Moreover, I actually did a decent job at hitting close to where I aimed for the vast majority of the time. Stayed in the nine ring for all but one shot.
This is more of a triumph because one of the things I hate most in the world is anticipating being startled. Hate it. Hate it hate it hate it. (Not quite as much as I hate Kit-Kat commercials, but close.) Wouldn't go near the Van de Graff generator in high school due to the anticipation of being shocked. The major reason I hate stupid horror movies is that I can't stand the feeling that something's about to jump out at me. The blood and guts or the plots themselves don't bother me, it's the scary music and the idea that I am about to be startled. And I literally cannot sit still for the glaucoma test where they puff air into your eye. I mean, I have tried and tried to force myself, have tried to relax, but I've only managed it once over the past several years. I just cannot do it. Whenever the eye doctor disappears behind her part of the machine, I involuntarily move away from it. So, you know, squeezing a trigger and knowing that something is about to make a very loud noise was not an easy task. I did have a minor freeze-up at one point, where I just got a little overwhelmed by the noise of people shooting around me in combination with the fact that I knew I was about to be startled by my own pistol, so I stopped and had my fiance shoot for awhile, and just watched him, and then I went back to it. All the work on mindfulness and focusing on my breathing and trying to stay in the present moment that I've had to do over the past year and a half has paid off somewhat, I think.
Fiance was the one who was teaching me, by the way. He loves shooting and just knowing about guns, even though he much prefers rifles to pistols -- he was a rifle expert in the Marines. He's ridiculously proud. He's hanging my target on our bedroom door.

I can sit there but I cannot keep my eye open voluntarily for it, so I have to forcibly hold my eye open with my fingers. I'm not sure if that skews the results but they let me do it. I like the version of the test where they use numbing drops and touch a sensor to your eye much better. And I literally cannot sit still for the glaucoma test where they puff air into your eye. Oh, definitely. That's what they have to do for me. Except for a couple of years I couldn't do that, either, because I didn't have glasses and you can't put contacts back in for a few hours after, and that means I can't drive (and I was never motivated enough to bring a friend). But I have glasses now, and a family history of glaucoma which I didn't know about before, so I get that done instead.I like the version of the test where they use numbing drops and touch a sensor to your eye much better.

27 boxes of cereal sure wouldn't be very comfortable in my shirt!
It was matching a sale with a manufacturer's promotion with coupons. I'm really trying to dive into this coupon world. It took a couple of hours to figure out what to buy, which coupons to use and how to break up the transactions to maximize my savings (I had to do it in 6 transactions), but I saved almost $100! With my time at the store and time after I got home to go over my list for accuracy added into my prep time, it was like "making" $25 an hour!
