I agree whole heartedly. I've read some of the victim's grand jury transcript and anyone who defends him deserves only scorn, both for their attitude and utter ignorance of the facts (Whoopi Goldberg would be both, what an idiot).Reading about or listening to anyone who is in any way defending Roman Polanski.

Why are they defending that guy anyway?
Dude raped that girl. I don't see anyone defending her saying, what a bad thing to go through.
Same with that Phillips chick. I thought her father sucked for introducing her to drugs. But it got so much worse. It's the victim I sympathize for, not some scummy person who raped and cohersed her.
That is just warped
Also I hate being broke! That check was only 3 dollars! Why do I have to be punished by losing all of this money I need for clothes, food and other stuff because-
Unemployment stops if you work too much for 10 bloody days!
Because this job won't pay me until tomorrow!
And why the hell does a check I wrote on the first take this long to clear!
I frigging hate checks! And I hate being punished for being broke especially when I worked hard and dealt with office politics for over a week!!!!! AUGH! I NEED THAT MONEY!
27 dollars is nothing to them, but it's a huge sum of money to me!!

Not just rape, he got her drunk, gave her drugs and then raped her, then while raping her he asked her when her period was, on finding out she didn't know when, but that it had been a couple weeks he proceeded to anally rape her. then a women there interrupted him, and he called through a closed door that he was dressing after getting out of the jacuzzi. he then went to the door to talk to her through a crack. The victim then put her underwear back on. Then he closed the door again, stripped her and began anally raping her again until he climaxed. Then he chatted with the woman there for a while (who was allegedly oblivious) while she waited in the car for him to take her home. Why are they defending that guy anyway?

Why do they defend him? basically they like his movies, but since no one can really feel good about themselves for giving this reason they justify it some of the following ways: She was consenting, she initiated it, she wasn't a virgin so it's not as bad, she wasn't a virgin so that means she was a slut, she's lying, he wasn't convicted so he might be innocent, he was going to be 'betrayed' by the judge and not given a light sentance, the victim wants the charges dropped, and 'it's been so long it doesn't matter anymore,' it's okay because he survived the holocaust, it's okay because the Manson's murdered his pregnant wife.
In other words a bunch of incredibly stupid, absolutely heinous reasons to defend someone. There's no defense, the perp should be rotting in jail.
He wasn't even going to be charged for most of this, because he worked out a plea bargain (because the prosecuters/girls family wanted to spare the girl from having to testify in open court) where he'd have received a relatively light sentence of only a few years imprisonment. The judge on the case allegedly told a prosecutor unrelated to the case that he wasn't going to sentence Polanski lightly, word of that got back to Polanski and he absconded to Europe to live the rest of his life in relative ease and luxury, so long as he stayed in countries that did not have extradition treaties with the united states.

UGH! I knew he raped her, but I didn't know all that!
He should have gone to JAIL for that! Why they don't put rapist in Jail for life, I'll never know. Rapists are way worse than murderers, and plus SHE WAS A CHILD! AUGH!!!!!!!!!
What the heck is up with this put the person who raped someone on a pedestal and blame the victim thing? She was 13! If someone did that to my child, I'd kill him.
It's like all of these folks dissing poor Mackenzie Phillips. i feel bad for her. What a terrible thing to go through.
People should be more compassionate towards victims and less towards people tormenting them.

I love the olympics, I may go to part of the vancouver olympics this fall. and I was really hoping to go to the Chicago olympics. in 96 half the people I knew made the trek down for one weekend at least and I was very jealous and have wanted to go to an olympics ever since.
If george bush had secured the chicago olympics I'd have been jumping up and down in excitement and I wouldn't have thought it was some policy victory for democrats if he had failed (or considered it a failure of his domestic policy).
I really hate the reactions I've been seeing to Chicago losing the bid for the 2016 olympics.
So I say to all the asshat far-right punditry: So much for putting country first, eh, you traitorous f******. (ETA: for those unaware the far right punditry has been inappropriately celebrating all day)

30 Republicans say "Yes" to workplace rape: http://thinkprogress.org/2009/10/07/kbr ... amendment/#
In 2005, Jamie Leigh Jones was gang-raped by her co-workers while she was working for Halliburton/KBR in Baghdad. She was detained in a shipping container for at least 24 hours without food, water, or a bed, and “warned her that if she left Iraq for medical treatment, she’d be out of a job.†(Jones was not an isolated case.) Jones was prevented from bringing charges in court against KBR because her employment contract stipulated that sexual assault allegations would only be heard in private arbitration.
Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) proposed an amendment to the 2010 Defense Appropriations bill that would withhold defense contracts from companies like KBR “if they restrict their employees from taking workplace sexual assault, battery and discrimination cases to court.â€
30 classy individuals. On the Senate floor, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) spoke against the amendment, calling it “a political attack directed at Halliburton.†Franken responded, “This amendment does not single out a single contractor. This amendment would defund any contractor that refuses to give a victim of rape their day in court.â€
In the end, Franken won the debate. His amendment passed by a 68-30 vote

random cuts that appear on my body out of no where. WHERE DO THEY COME FROM? I hate that!

The fact that I want ice cream. Dang it I do not NEED ice cream. Sure Ben and Jerry's brownie ice cream is heavenly in its chocolateness. Sure it's cold, creamy and good and sweet, but I don't need it. Just because it's on sale, doesn't mean I have to buy it.
NO
ICE
CREAM!
ARG!
And yet I still want some.
I hate being broke and running out of Ghirridelli Cocoa powder.

Evolutionary psychology. Which amounts, imho, to a bunch of modern-day "Just-So" stories dressed up as science that oh-so-conveniently happen to justify and entrench the most pernicious of modern day stereotypes.

I hate it too!
Loathe it. Especially when OSC has it in a book with characters going on about it as if it is the biblical truth
Now what about mutants such as myself?

Being a camera-whore.
Being emo.
What Kirsten said, only as related to what Adam wrote in the Things I Love thread...though now I'm wondering if she or someone like-minded wrote that confessions post in which they got angry over the ladder theory, even though I had been trying to say I disagreed with it but not the idea of friend-zoning people, and where I wasn't trying to stereotype men but rather get a general idea of the behaviors of some of my closest male friends.
I guess I hate when I ramble and make terrible run-on sentences.

Actually, this "Thing I Hate" it was inspired by Adam's post in the "Things I Love" thread, but the application to OSC's work is definitely valid as well. And I find OSC's use of it far more irritating. But, really, it wasn't meant as an attack. I hate Evolutionary Psych in general, doesn't really matter the source.
I did not write the ladder post confession, though I really don't like the theory. The subsequent conversation didn't really bother me, and I found parts of it interesting.

It was amusing. He gave my teeth a pep talk and would cheer himself on every so often. He even tried to hold a conversation with me and then he'd answer with what I was thinking, "Oh yeah...my hand is in your mouth. I guess I'm being a bit silly."
Overall, the best dental experience I've had.

I didn't take it as one and if I know Adam, he didn't take it as one, either. I've certainly said far worse to him and he's taken it in stride. But, really, it wasn't meant as an attack.

It was my best dental experience ever too! She was so nice and just kept talking. The second round went way faster then the first.
