Osama bin Laden
Osama bin Laden
I'm not sure as gto how much this has been speculated in forums or discussions anywhere, but do you agree with me that bin Laden was payed off by our government, whatever branch is responsible, be it Bush himself, or in a covert branch.

OK, it's easy to say something like this, I mean, the internet is abound with conspiracy theories. What I want to know is what do you base this assumption on? Do you have evidence that bin Laden was paid off by the US Government? And for what? What did bin Laden do that he would receive a reward from the US government? I am not a US citizen nor do I ever hope to be but such a question seems a bit (OK, a LOT) far-fetched. It is OK to assume things, but make sure you have your facts before you assert that your assumptions may be fact. As far as I've seen, there is no evidence to suggest that bin Laden was paid off in any way by the US government for anything. Bin Laden is likely in hiding somewhere or dead, that is as simple an answer as I can give you.

I'm not making any claims, I was really just stating a possibility. It's a speculation as to how deep the corruption of the government goes. The government, in my opinion has a a few objectives or purposes for war. This is pretty obvious though.
1. Protect imports/exports
2. Take out anyone who the government "doesn't like"

Well, that pretty much sums up as century of US foreign policy but conspiracy theorists tend to over engineer it. It's usually easier just to make s*** up (Gulf of Tonkin, WMDs) than it is to create elaborate conspiracies involving things actually happening.2. Take out anyone who the government "doesn't like"
The key you're in a bad conspiracy as opposed to one that might be credible is either 1) no evidence (a boring but useful point to remember) or 2) absence of evidence is seen as proof because apparently Government's only area of competence is cover-ups. To be honest it's sweet you guys are trying to bring back the glory days when people felt the secret service was actually competent enough to assassinate Kennedy. Who totally isn't dead and lives on the moon.

Yes, the United States government funded Osama bin Laden.
In 1984, when he was helping us kill commies.
Oh. Is that not what you meant?
Also, each "war" has a raison d'etre all its own. It's a tool of foreign policy, anything more specific than that can usually be disproven by historical example. It's obviously very difficult to predict the future of foreign policy/warfare, but I doubt you'll see us going to fisticuffs with any of our major trading partners anytime soon, and the people that the government "doesn't like" are, frankly, better, and more appropriately dealt with by means far less conspicuous and energy consuming than warfare.

America is one of the most fear-driven countries around. We get little bits and pieces (Katrina, floods, Mt St Helens etc.) But we never get what the "other guys" get. And we all know deep in our hearts that one day we will.

Oh, sorry. I guess I should have prefaced. The content wasn't a bit funny. I guess I just find so-called experts who slip up when attempting to sound relevant and informed and end up sounding incredibly deluded instead amusing. Any time Ann Coulter speaks, for example. It just seemed relevant to the conversation in ridiculous level. Just don't mind me, I guess.Found this today, followed by much giggling.
I may or may not regret this, and I should probably just not go there....
But how is that funny?
