I've had this desktop now for a while, but it reminded me of Ender's Shadow.
"I knew you were searching for him. I didn't want to interfere until you found him. Just in case you think you were really smart, young man, we intercepted four street thugs and two known sex offenders who were after you."

No clue, I wish I did though
And actually when I saw it, I thought of a young Sargeant.
Like before Poke found him.

Just a point of pride that eri reminded me of:
I recently was able to abolish the cacophony of icons on my desktop. It is not perfectly clean.
Ah, so neat and clean. Especially with the hidden Start Menu (at the very bottom).
Of course, I would die if I didn't have shortcuts:
RocketDock makes me happy that you don't have to go Mac to be obsessively neat! Not that I don't want a Mac, for graphic-design purposes.

Shell the unshellable, crawl the uncrawlible.
Row--row.

Any distro that tries to resemble MacOS is a shame for the pc-users. Heresy i say!
Oh Fathers Stallman and Gates who art in our PCs,
hallowed be thy code.
Thy new distros and SPs come,
they will be done in our homes as it is in the demo.
Give us this day our daily bandwidth,
and forgive us our pirated software as we forgive those who leecheth our wifi.
And lead us not into Apple, but deliver us from Mac.
Amen

But seriously, what's so wrong with OS X? It's based on GNU! Stallman should have no problem with it. It's practically KDE's older, hipster brother.

There art two worlds, and both art good.
There is the world of the open code, and the free programmer dwelleth there. It is the world of the creativity, the challenge and the Linux..eth.
There is the world of the closed code, and the hired programmer dwelleth there. It is the world of the deadlines, where the money is made and payeth and earnedeth and much joy is had by everyone; it is the world of Windoweth.
Then there is the underworld, and it is bad...eth. The programmer doesn't dwelleth there, but the engineneer, the architecth and the artisteth, which are root of all evil*. T'is the dominion of Mac.
*Actually the root of all evil are lawyers, politicians and journalists, but everybody knows they don't have** computers, meh.
**Even if they had computers, they wouldn't know how to use them, lulz

Right you are sir... I thought that there was some sort of GNU blood in the unix underpinnings of OS X, but I was wrong.I think you mean BSD.
jota, I agree, closed source is not so great... however my needs are better served by a semi-closed-source system (the kernel, Darwin, is based on BSD and the source is distributed under BSD licenses) running open source (for the most part) software.

There is the world of the truly free code, from which all programmers can partake, regardless of the dividing lines of ideology. A world of common sense, without zealotry, without RMS and the GPL; of the BSDs. The world of non-copyleft free licenses. Oh, and "eth" and all that. There art two worlds, and both art good.

Seriously, I'm amazed by how many people actually believe in the laughable concept of releasing GPL'd code in the name of freedom or technological advancement. It's not a bad license, but by no means is it freer than most.
And hey, open source projects make money, too. Normally I say "look at redhat" and people laugh, but now you can say "look at novell, ibm, sun". The model is being proven.
Erm, where did he say that?jota, I agree, closed source is not so great...
Edit:
The source is distributed under the APSL, which is notably different than any BSD license (e.g. it's not compatible with the GPL).(the kernel, Darwin, is based on BSD and the source is distributed under BSD licenses)

Newest desktop... I've made the jump to DUAL SCREENS
I'm still tweaking it quite a bit. Right now I have it set to use both monitors as ONE GIANT 2560x1024 widescreen desktop, but we'll see what happens. It took me a long time to find a picture that I really, really liked that spread across both monitors.

And the beast shall come forth surrounded by a roiling cloud of vengeance. The house of the unbelievers shall be razed and they shall be scorched to the earth. Their tags shall blink until the end of days.
And the beast shall be made legion. Its numbers shall be increased a thousand thousand fold. The din of a million keyboards like unto a great storm shall cover the earth, and the followers of Mammon shall tremble.
And so at last the beast fell and the unbelievers rejoiced. But all was not lost, for from the ash rose a great bird. The bird gazed down upon the unbelievers and cast fire and thunder upon them. For the beast had been reborn with its strength renewed, and the followers of Mammon cowered in horror.
And thus the Creator looked upon the beast reborn and saw that it was good.
Mammon slept. And the beast reborn spread over the earth and its numbers grew legion. And they proclaimed the times and sacrificed crops unto the fire, with the cunning of foxes. And they built a new world in their own image as promised by the sacred words, and spoke of the beast with their children. Mammon awoke, and lo! it was naught but a follower.
