classes next semester/quarter
What are you taking? I know that 90% of pwebbers are students of some sort, and I want to know what classes you signed up for!
I'm taking:
Microbiology 521--This is the second course in the "General Microbiology" sequence fo micro majors. Probably going to be boring.
Microbiology 522--Immunobiology. This will be my hardest class next quarter. I am excited though, because I love anything that has to do with health-related fields and I've worked in an immunobology lab before. Also, I'll know a lot of people in this class.
Comparative Studies 526--New Age Religions. I'm semi-happy about taking this one. I wanted to take an honors philosophy class on medical ethics for future health care workers, but it only had spots for 20 students. I signed up for this instead since I had to fill the spot with another 500-level humanities class. Hopefully it will be interesting. And not a lot of work, but we'll see about that one. I'm not sure exactly what religions we'll be talking about though.
Pharmacy 600--Pharmacology. I'm taking this in hopes it will help me for med school. It's a class about general mechanisms of drugs. It's also an online course... don't really like those because I tend not to be as motivated, but I'll decide for sure once I see the syllabus.
Education and Physical Activity 172.01--Women's self-defense. So I can beat up those rapists.
This past quarter I finished up food microbiology, microbial genetics, environmental microbiology, medical applications of radionuclides and radiopharmaceuticals, and mythology of ancient egypt and mesopotamia. I am so glad this quarter is over.

Mathematical Physics II. That's exactly what it sounds like. Conformal mapping, eigenfunctions, eigenvalues, and Green's functions, integral equations, calculus of variations, numerical methods, probability andstatistics, and group theory.
Biostatistics II. Hmm.. thinking about it... this seems like more math. Damn. More SPSS fun for me.
Independent Research. I'll be looking at the physics of a flattening-filter free LINAC and modeling it using Monte Carlo. Then, if I'm lucky, I'll plug that beam model into a treatment planning system and take some feasibility measurements of an IMRT plan. This will be the work for my PhD proposal.

Let's see...
Visual Communication II-
This is the second half of my most conceptual, theoretical design class. I adore it.
Communication Imaging II-
The Graphic Design version of a photography class, focused more on connecting images to type and ideas than artistic shots.
Illustration II-
Fairly self-explanitory, and the bane of my artistic existance. I'm am officially NOT an illustrator.
Typography II-
The first semester is learning hand-drawn caligraphy and the history and vocabulary of type, and the second is done on the computer. I'm looking forward to that.
Design Procedures II-
This is my most technical class. This is where we learn about the programs we're supposed to be using and the more technical skills of all of this design stuff.
20th Century art history-
The final installment of our 4 semester long in depth art history survey. Woo.
Space, Shape, and Symmetry-
In art school, this counts as a Science credit. Which works for me.

*nudge nudge*... *cough* linguistics! *cough*.... what? I'm not biased!-possibly either statistics or linguistics, haven't decided yet
This semester I'm finishing Weather Disasters, Computer Models of Language Representation and Processing, Elementary Hindi, Theories of Linguistic Analysis, and History and Development of the English language.
Next semester I'll be in Barcelona, so the classes I'm hoping for are Spanish Poetry, Spanish Cinema, Contemporary Spanish Narrative Texts, Catalan Language and Culture, and the mandatory language course for which I will test, hopefully at a high level.

Classes next semester:
Managerial Accounting...
Science 102...which is basically a lab science for non-science majors...a breeze...
Design Algorithms...I'm not really sure what this class is going to be because I was supposed to take a math class to fill this requirement but alas they changed the requirements...
Capstone II...basically the thesis course for computer science majors...the first semester we went out...found an independent client...designed a computer program/system/whatever in theory...in this semester we will be implimenting the project and making all the documents necessary...like a user's guide a such...

Data Structures & Software Principles
Computer Architecture I
Physics E&M
Linear Algebra
I wanted to take "Zen", too, but it conflicts with a required class; alas. I was also wondering about a music theory class... but that would put me at 18 hours, which is the maximum you can take without special Dean approval, which doesn't sound fun.

I am currently finishing:
PUR4100- Public Relations Writing
PHI3930- Evil (Yes, evil. It's a philosophy class.)
RUT3415- Russian Fairy Tales
MAN3000- Intro to Management
Next semester:
PUR4404C- International Public Relations
MMC4200- Mass Communication Law
ACG2101C- Intro to Financial Accounting
RUT3503- Violence and Terrorism in the Russian Experience
I've been on a Russian kick lately. The other classes are just gonna kinda suck.

Vigilant I shall be, though I do not fear the ways of managerial quality.Wow, someone that loves coding, you my friend are now my mortal enemy. Be vigilant for your downfall is nearing!zeroguy: I thought data structures was a relatively fun class, though I love coding which may have something to do with it.

Likewise, and it better be fun. I'm looking forward to Comparch slightly more, though, as the high school class I took in that was just awesome. Low-level is where it's at.zeroguy: I thought data structures was a relatively fun class, though I love coding which may have something to do with it.

Well now hold on! A bad instructor can easily ruin a class that should be fun, so I just can't be held responsible for that!Likewise, and it better be fun. I was kind of disappointed with my CompArch class, though I think I may have expected too much out of it. My assembly class rocked hard, though, and if you like low level, then I'm hoping it's a class you'll get to take (if it's available).

I had that attitude through high school and the first year and a half of college. Then I pretty much stopped going to college for about a year or so. Now, I'm actually trying to graduation with as much gusto as I've ever had for school!

I appreciate the offer, but I'll pass.i'm not... wanna take it for me?
I'm interested more in a "how is marketing going to distort the science that is math" way. I just finished a marketing class and frankly, it disgusted me. According to my professor and the book I read, the only reason anything sells is because marketing makes it happen. There are other reasons I couldn't stand the class, but most of them fell along those lines.
