Gotta love the tal bachman, I actually just finished listening to Shes So High and now Aeroplane is playing... for some reason A Horse With No Name is after that song, I dont know how it got mixed with my Tal Bachman songs. *shrugs*

I never liked Greenday, could be because I never heard of them til about 3 years ago.
I fell behind in the music section of life in the mid 90s to present day bands.
My friends make jokes about kids slitting wrists for some reason now. I don't really know any of these new bands, but everyone seems to make fun of them so I wonder why they are so popular.

also, the fact that you never heard of Greenday until 2003 both appalls me and makes me feel ridiculously old. i mean, come on.
you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

Well don't feel too old, they wer enew to me, but so was Nirvanna, who I also don't really like.
My music has always fallen in the much older genre. I think there was a 10 year period of my life, where instead of listening to the newer bands, I was finding the older ones and listening to them.
though I'm not necessarily a fan of classic rock, I can name more bands there, then anywhere else.
But I'm not too far on the times, I mean hell I listen to Jimmy Eat World, even though they are like 95 or something.
Thats considered new to me. Anywhere from 1990-2006. For me there really couldn't be Greenday's old stuff. I dunno, I try not to classify the music I listen to too much. Thats why my above lists were so mixed up. Never let me burn you a cd.

No, its not that. Heck, they def did one thing right with American Idiot, they got stinkin rich off it, as they should. Releasing it under their own label was a really smart move, and proves that artist dont need a huge label to leech all their money...You're not one of those people that thinks they're a sell out just because of the American Idiot CD, are you?
And i respect any band that manages to get a 9 minute song played on the radio.
I really, really like old greenday, so i guess it just makes me sad about how political their music got. Not that i care if the band is political, i just thought the album was to political.
Oh and i do hate U2, so doing a song with them seemed sorta stupid, at least the moneys going to charity...
Oh yea and I just got that... the emo thing, thats what my friends called it. Said the emo people cut their wrists. I think they called Hawthorn Heights (I think thats the band?) emo, I remember the lyrics though..
Cut my wrists and black my eyes.
Sadly my friends used to listen to that and now they make fun of it. Now they've moved on to heavy metal or something.
*shrugs*
I'll stick with my Who and Blondie and JEW

well, i mean, my dad passed on a love for all his favorite music to me, so i mean, i love me some classic rock, ect. and my mom was all about the musicals, and hey, i almost majored in musical theatre until i chickened out at the last second, and yeah, i like pretty much everything with the exception of too much country (although a little bit is fine).
and i'll believe that you never actively listened to or paid attention or or enjoyed the contemporary music of the 90's (although how could you NOT?!?! soooooooooooo good!) but to say that you've never even HEARD of Greenday, let alone Nirvana?
like, ok, i'm not saying that i pulled a George Thoman (8th grader in my middle school who carved "kurt lives" into his arm with a staple on the 1 year anniversary of cobain's death) but i mean, come on. it's Nirvana. whether you like grunge or not, whether you like the band or not, it's pretty much unanimous. they greatly influenced music.
(also: did i just start a paragraph up there with "like, ok"?! it's as though simply talking about the 90's transports me back there... suddenly i feel fourteen years old...)

Well let me clarify, I hear dof the bands when I was in school, I never listened to them. Not until the past few years, and I just wasn't very influenced by either Greenday or Nirvana. Not saying they are bad bands, just not my type. My main issue with Nirvana was the whole mumbling thing and then the rape me being the only coherent sentence in a song. Just couldn't get into it. I just never really fell into the punk scene so that counts out alot of bands like The Killers and Greenday.
By the way, now I'm listening to Offspring. A mix of all their cds.
