Re: TV in General - Rants, Reviews, Etc.
Walking Dead comments, that I'm pretty much repeating from Fred's FB status the other night:
Shane is a douchebag. I thought, after what he did to Laurie (that's her name, right? I'm terrible with names, even after seasons of certain shows), he would realize how much he was losing it and would make attempts to get his act together...and then he shoots the one guy.
I get it, both Shane and the other guy probably weren't going to make it back to the vehicle to get the supplies back to the house but Shane's advantage of being in better shape went away when he injured his own leg in the fall. I also get there isn't much time left to really talk it out and sure, survival instinct will tell someone to go for living over choosing to die. But argh. Shoot the guy in the head or the chest, somewhere where he'll die sooner and with less pain and suffering. Because being torn apart for someone else's meal? Not a great way to go.
Has anyone caught either Once Upon a Time or Grimm? (I went from pretty much no TV in my life to 4 shows. I feel overwhelmed a bit by it all.)
Anyway, you can't really compare OUaT to Grimm, they're two completely different types of show. Both are a bit shaky right now but show potential to become strong and they have interesting premises. I would love OUaT more if they used less of the special effects; they're cheesy and cheap on a level even I am having a hard time stomaching. But between E1 and 2, I already got much more invested.
Grimm, having only seen one episode so far, is reminding me of early seasons of Buffy. It's campy and I wish it would try just a little harder to take itself less seriously and enjoy the campiness more...but not too much more. It's a fine balance; we'll see if it can get there.
Honestly, I'll be surprised if either show makes it for an entire season, let alone for more than one season. I know OUaT put up big numbers on the first episode but I didn't hear about the second.

The Walking Dead:
Completely agree with everything Alea said. The stupid thing is for some reason I really want to like Shane, but he's just such a jerk that i'm mad that I hate him (wow, that doesn't make any sense).
They really need to either find Sophia (I think that's her name, I too and horrible with names) or she needs to turn up as a Walker, because it's driving me nuts that it's dragging on this much.

Haven't seen Grimm but Once just doesn't work for me. I know some of the actors from other shows so I blame direction and script not acting. The premise is interesting but something just doesn't work. I can't get involved. ManUp on the other hand is great!

Wasn't that called "The Stand"?On another note, we just watched a British series called Survivors on Netflix streaming. It's only 2 seasons of six episodes each. It reminded me of The Walking Dead but without the zombies, which sounds boring but isn't! A virus wipes out 99% if the population and it's about the survivors. It's really good. The first season starts slow but the second season gets much better.
Which, in all seriousness, remains one of my favorite reading experiences EVAR.

Similar initial premise but no supernatural cause or storyline. Just straightforward survivors and what it brings out in human nature.

Bones --
I'm not sure how I feel about the episode as a whole. But I do like watching Booth and Brennan together as a couple. Also, I am in love with Emily Deschenal pregnant. It's so nice seeing a pregnancy on TV that is neither fake nor being covered up.
Also, for those of you who have seen it:
Last night, Donny walked in when I was half an hour through the show. And I immediately pounced on him and asked, "HEY! Does my baby belly symbolize your virility and give you a sense of pride and power because of that?" Hehehe. I found it hilarious. He found it -- weird.

I love Bones, but I haven't seen any recent episodes. I only discovered it earlier this year on Netflix and have almost made it through those episodes, then I think there are a season or two that aren't on Netflix yet that I'll have to find.

I'm like, 5 minutes into Bones, and I do not like this new kid. NOT A FAN. It's like attempting to have a new Zack Addy with a southern accent. However nobody can replace Zack Addy in my heart of hearts. Go away, Mr. Abernathy.

I'm most of the way through Bones. I like the new kid. He's too personable, too much of a history to be like Zack. Frankly, I like him better than the vast majority of the squinterns.

Re: Tonight's HIMYM
What the f*** is up with the cliffhanger or jaw-drop endings? ROBIN IS PREGNANT? Is this some new TV trend? Dual or close together pregnancies? Is she really pregnant? What are they doing to this show? I liked the ending of the last one. I liked that Robin stayed with the guy who loves her for a better reason than "you're nearly as messed up as I am" even though I didn't believe for a second she and Kevin would stay together. But now -- what is this new trajectory we're going on? And what has HAPPENED to this show?
More questions than answers. Alas.

Re: TV in General - Rants, Reviews, Etc.
Walking Dead was intense this week.
I was very excited when the old guy (I don't remember his name ) gave Shane a talking to about the kind of man he is. I also loved, for a certain definition of love, the whole baby debate between Laurie and Rick.
I also flipped a lid over blondie grabbing on Shane's penis; I think I shouted at the tv "What are you doing? You shouldn't do that!" Damn adrenaline.
Great episode. Can't wait for next week.

Haha! This! If I would have been drinking something there would have been a spit take. It kills me that next week is the mid season finale, while I feel like it's intense and I love every episode, I also feel like they're getting nowhere!I also flipped a lid over blondie grabbing on Shane's penis; I think I shouted at the tv "What are you doing? Re: TV in General - Rants, Reviews, Etc.
Walking Dead tonight:
Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God.
I was so, so upset at the slaughter at the barnhouse, and then Sophie walking out of the barn. I'm not surprised it was Rick that stepped up. Oh my God. I want to know what's next. I am stunned.
Good episode.
I don't know what I'd do in that scenario. If we had a safe haven and were being told to leave. Honest to God, seven months pregnant and freaking out, I'd be in favor of killing the old man and taking over, if it came right down to it. And, yet, I know myself well enough to know I wouldn't be able to do it... maybe.
And, yet, even feeling all deadly steel in my resolve to live, I f****** HATE Shane. Oh, I hate him.
Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God.

Oh my God, oh my God, OH MY GOD!!!
I was even joking about how Sophia was probably in the barn, and when she walked out I freaked out! I cried, I couldn't help it! The last 10 minutes of this episode were absolutely amazing, my heart felt like it was going to jump out of my chest!

What kills me is: How could Hershel's people not know that Sophia was in there?? These people show up looking for a little girl, "Oh, we just happened to catch a zombie girl a few days ago". Why would they let them keep searching?!! AGGHHHH.Oh my God, oh my God, OH MY GOD!!!

I was actually thinking about this all day. What kills me is: How could Hershel's people not know that Sophia was in there?? These people show up looking for a little girl, "Oh, we just happened to catch a zombie girl a few days ago". Why would they let them keep searching?!! AGGHHHH.
My guess is that Hershel didn't know she was in there. What if she made her way to the barn, crawled up inside thinking it would be a safe place to hide, and was bit by a zombie somehow? I mean, she could have gotten in the same way Glen did. I don't know how likely this is though, especially since if she got close enough to the zombies to infect her, why didn't they just eat her?
That, or Hershel has some explaining to do...

And, given that the boys went to Hershel right away about the walkers they found that Rick went after, I'm guessing they wouldn't put a new walker in without informing him. I am definitely on the "he has some explaining to do" side of things.
Although, lord, I felt so awful for him in that ending scene, before Sophia came out.
Did I mention I hate Shane?

I was sick for several days, and spent a lot of the time trying to find something bearable on tv. I tried watching an episode of Big Bang Theory for the first time...
Not such a fan. Sheldon is just plain... very annoying. I kinda like the two minor supporting nerds, though (the indian guy and the guy with the big nose and decades-old hair). I don't expect to ever see it again.

I've watched some of it (3 episodes? 4?) and it's pretty great. I just somehow acquired the habit of only watching it with specific other friends, whom I don't see very often, so I don't get through it very quickly. How come no one here watches Breaking Bad?! Re: TV in General - Rants, Reviews, Etc.
It took awhile for me to like BBT. I had pretty well the same opinion the first two or three times. I only watched it because Donny was watching it.
And then something clicked and it became hilarious.

I could see it going three ways.I am definitely on the "he has some explaining to do" side of things.
1) She was in there before they got there, Hershel knew and he didn't tell him. Obviously, people who have been victims of bites have been brought there before. His first words when Rick was running up with his son was "Is he bit?". It is very possible that they found a bit Sophie and into the barn she went.
2) Otis found her and put her in the barn. He obviously went out into the woods by himself. And when they were herding the walkers with Rick, Hershel said that Otis used to handle them. Otis "died" at the high school before he ever told Hershel.
3) They found her and put her in the barn while the gang was there. Hershel seemed to change his tune from, "You can stay until your boy gets better and you find that little girl." to "Your boy is on the mend, you had best be leaving." My thinking: he found her, put her in the barn, knew they would want to kill her, so he wanted them gone. Hershel not saying anything was the only way he could potentially save her.
I am thinking either 2 or 3, but leaning toward 3 more.

I'm caught up on Breaking Bad through the end of Season 3. Netflix doesn't have Season 4 streaming, and I've been too lazy to try to stream it other ways. I will catch up soon though.
Feel free to discuss. I'm loving the show.

How can you stand it, Noodle? I remember how season 3 ended. I had to watch the season 4 premier right after I saw the finale.
There are definitely some loose ends that are going to come back to bite poor Walt. There's something very mysterious about Gus's past. It's been implied that he had some high-up connections, so I think it's fairly certain that some not-so-nice people are going to want revenge. And since the finale represents pretty much the only time one of Walt's plans has gone perfectly right, you just know that he's going to end up paying for it.
So what are your predictions for season 5?Neo, I love BB. Currently my favorite show on TV. If you want to discuss spoilers, then fire away.

Well, to be honest, I just finished season 3 like a week ago, so It's not like I've been sitting on it for months or anything. How can you stand it, Noodle? I remember how season 3 ended. I had to watch the season 4 premier right after I saw the finale.
Where were you able to watch Season 4 online? I could pirate it, but if I can watch it legally just as easy, I'd prefer to do that.
