David and I are reading aloud to each other every night before bed. So far we've devoured THE HOBBIT, THE PRINCESS BRIDE, and most recently PETER PAN. Our next venture is, I think, THE WITCHES.
Most of you know how much I love PETER PAN, and there are more amazing quotes bundled up in that book than I have time to list.

I am putting this on every workspace I own, from here on out. I may have it tattood across my hands.
Note: that resolution comes in the midst of trying to complete my last class paper EVER that I've been putting off for weeks now till it's ridiculously overdue. It happens to be about William James.
For anybody who ever takes a class on the History of Psychology: When you have to write a paper on Pioneers of Psychology, pick someone interesting but only semi-famous and not particularly prolific. That limits the number of sources you have and prevents you from having to write about the implications of five million theories and their legacy in psychology and the world.
I love William James. But I wish to God I were writing this paper on someone else.

I got Night Watch, what I thought was my favorite Terry Pratchett book but now that I've reread it, I think it is probably second behind Small Gods, and maybe third behind The Truth.

Something else I'm getting tired of in this country is all this stupid talk I have to listen to about children. That's all you hear about anymore, children: "Help the children, save the children, protect the children." You know what I say? f*** the children!

Pretty much sums up my thoughts on the subject.Any research done on how to efficiently use computers has been long lost in the mad rush to upgrade systems to do things that aren't needed by people who don't understand what they are really supposed to do with them.

The Brothers Karamazov, DostoevskyAND Ivan, on parting from Alyosha, went home to Fyodor Pavlovitch's house. But, strange to say, he was overcome by insufferable depression, which grew greater at every step he took towards the house. There was nothing strange in his being depressed; what was strange was that Ivan could not have said what was the cause of it. He had often been depressed before, and there was nothing surprising at his feeling so at such a moment, when he had broken off with everything had brought him here, and was preparing that day to make a new start and enter upon a new, unknown future. He would again be as solitary as ever, and though he had great hopes, and great- too great- expectations from life, he could not have given any definite account of his hopes, his expectations, or even his desires.
Ivan is my new fictional crush, with Alyosha running a close second.
That aside, this pretty well sums up my mood over the past couple of weeks.
