Really, I tend to only read back the most recent few pages, if even that. It only really matters if there is a current discussion on a specific topic. Especially for threads like Bob or Dear You, you really do not need to read back any posts, although I'd suggest reading the first post because that will tell you the general idea of the thread. After that you can read back or not read back as you like.

That's basically it. Longer-term stuff you'll tend to pick up from context. Or ask questions if someone is confusing.

Long story short, for me: I met Rei here, we went to a meet-up together, he moved to my city, eventually we got married. There's a thread floating around somewhere with the details.

Okay, so the bit about the wedding has a thread. Re-reading it, I'm totally smug that we managed to surprise a few people. We'd been planning that for years.

Still have to come up with something good for when we finally have kids, though...

We all already know #1 is on the way. Rei's name thread was a bit a dead give-a-way.

No, Rei is just that nerdy. And we've talked about baby names since before we got married. Tip: living with a linguist makes even minor discussions bizarre and nerdy.

Also, you seem to have missed my post in "Things I hate". I'd advise you to go review it before you get a biff on the hooter.

Oi, that is direct from the British/Canadian translations of the Asterix comics! Loved that phrase since I first read it when I was, like, 10 or so.

Linus, why would I ever insinuate that you're the one who's pregnant, that wouldn't make any sense. Unless you're secretly the Governator...

You have been, Fred! And here I thought it was because I poured my heart out to you. *sniffle*

Unfortunately, I usually don't have enough time to do more than just lurk, but I do drop by to read the threads from time to time. :)
