Re: Things that I hate
I just got an email from my son's school. It's a kindergarten center, meaning that it has special-needs preschool students, kindergarten kids, and a class or two of first-graders. They had a lockdown drill today. You know, to prepare in case someone enters with a gun. Like a fire drill, because it's apparently something we now treat as an unlikely but realistic threat to prepare for.
I am profoundly, profoundly, profoundly sad.
I mean, on the one hand, I get it. On balance, I guess I'd rather they do that than not. I'm just sad that it's come to this.

Probably not a comfort, but I had lockdown drills all through my schooling. Definitely at least since 9/11. Not that that makes the world any less crappy...

The school down the street from my library has active shooter drills, which involves sending the entire school (or the portion of it they deem safe from shooters) running out of the building and down the road to the library. A few showed up at the library when they practiced this a month or so ago and were in tears. It was awful to see.

Just how did people get so screwed up! I still can't fathom how anyone could get so twisted up so, that they could do such pointless violence to the innocent. Makes no sense!

Re: Things that I hate
I really hate trying to coordinate anything around Christmas with my family. I don't know if for some it's a feeling of "You left us to go to Chicago, so we're not going to go out of our way to make time for you when you come back around" and for others it's a feeling of "I'm your brother's wife/girlfriend and seeing my family will always trump seeing yours" but hot damn is it obnoxious. I only get to go back once a year. Can they really not try a little more to be around for me to see? They all live in the same state, if not the same city, so they have the luxury of driving over in minutes or a few hours (on the super cheap, compared to flights).

Re: Things that I hate
I've been pondering my heart on the matter all night long. How do you stand up for injustice when both sides are acting irrationally?
I'm not an artist by any means, so I can't draw the image in my head, but the picture my heart has drawn looks a bit like this:
A crowd of Black Lives Matter, shouting in anger toward the other side - The 2 Most recent Black victims looking toward the middle - open space - me, sitting on the ground, knees up, head down, crying - The Police that were shot last night looking toward the middle- A crowd of Blue Lives Matter, shouting in anger toward the other side.
I'm having such a hard time putting my thoughts into words. I don't want to "choose sides." I want one side to know that I see their struggle and understand that it's real. I want the other side to know that I see their sacrifice and know it real. And vice versa. Because we are all the same. Or we should be. But we're not.

Re: Things that I hate
*hugs*
I don't know. I'm just sick with sorrow over everything.
I just, I don't understand how it's taking sides to be appalled by anyone killing anyone, but somehow so many people spin it so that it is. The fact that I am sickened by what happened in Dallas does not mean that I am willing to exonerate those police who have committed abuses, I'm still extremely angry about that. The fact that I want police held accountable and am horrified to my core about the latest two Black lives lost (the four year old in the backseat just undoes me whenever I think about it) does not mean that I somehow do not respect those police who do their jobs well and do not want them to be honored.
The violence, the violence everywhere, the callousness and ease with which it happens. Things I hate.

I made the mistake of not avoiding a classmate's fb status of a picture that said "Enough" on a tall building, where someone questioned them saying "I agree. But, why weren't you posting this picture about all the unarmed black lives lost?"starlooker wrote:*hugs*

Her response started off saying... "Look, I don't think anyone doesn't feel irk when they see these videos of cops killing unarmed men...."
I took a quick second to make sure my definition of "irk" was the same as hers, via Google.... if the full extent of what you feel when a unarmed black life is unjustifiably lost is "irk", I don't think you truly care to the same degree and I don't think you can speak for what people are feeling.
I honestly don't understand why people feel the need to frame support for the police or support for the movement as excluding the other. Seems like the end goal for both is loss of lives. http://www.kansascity.com/news/state/ka ... 47307.html
Though, of course, only one of the two groups has a significant degree of centralized control over its members and systematic issues. You can't solve poverty, crime, or mistrust of the police as easily---that comes from history.

Re: Things that I hate
It has been a tuff week for us here, nearly a week back my best pup Delilah (Lila) her back went in a bad way. Her mother the great "Lexie" the most wonderful canine companion had suffered and died from the same genetic fault so common to Dachsunds. We only wish we knew that Lexie had the condition before we bred her. Our trusted Vet says that a surgery is out of the question as it's quite a bad case and Lila is older. We have been trying predgazone a steroid treatment at home and pain killers to try to keep her as comfortable as possible but I feel she is in too much pain and I will take her , My most wunderbar smart ,loving and loyal companion back to the Doc and put her down , same as with Lexie I just cant do it myself. All our kids n grandkids and even many neighbors n friends have come to see her one last time, she is liked and loved that much around here. I am very proud and will always miss her, she has been much more than just a dog. I dug a grave near the old cottonwood she liked to snooze under in the summer and will soon go to the shop and finish the fir box and fashon a marker and paint it white.

Hate? Our current administration. Criminal and reckless, to say the least. The comparisons to Obama are laughable (as in, "When Obama did...").

Painting (as in rooms, not as in canvas or other similar art things).
Taping so I can paint.
Paying people to do something I am capable of doing, even if I hate it.
Being so stubborn, I don't just pay someone to paint already.

I forgot to mention tea.
Tea.
I hate it.
I tried it again last night and it just...it's not strong enough to taste like anything more than diluted sewage and it's not weak enough to just taste like the infinitely better water.

While this is possible, I had got to question how strong the tea you've had has been. Because strongly brewed tea should have flavour... But then I also really love tea.

Eh, couldn't tell you. Over the years I've had green tea, black tea, Chai tea, etc. both prepared myself (following the advice of the internet and possibly Pwebbers) and by others who know much better, and it all tastes awful. :)

I often get sick of too much of the usual brew and go on a tea kick. I love the taste and smell of "Lopsang" tea, don't know if its the smokey smell or the taste but I love it.

This persistent back pain...
I usually get bad soreness in my lower back after exercising that area, but nothing like this. It's been almost 3 weeks and I'm still in dull-throbbing pain that runs from my groin to my upper back.
I hate it but on Monday I'm calling in for an appointment. While I'm at it I might as well see my therapist sooner too. Not feeling so hot lately, in more ways than one.

That I can't get FCS Express to analyze my CP data.
I've been at work for 6 hours and feel like I have accomplished nothing.
I could have been spending time with my dad on his last full day in town.
But I have a HUGE urgent project due the second that I have to get done.
My boss for giving me this project and taking days off the deadline ever time I talk to her. At Thanksgiving it was due on the 15th.
Stupid work
