Things that I hate
Re: Things that I hate
I cried a couple times at work today over this, I think I'm becoming a parent in mentality years before we plan on becoming parents. This hit me harder than the Joplin Tornado, in terms of instant emotional response.
So, Lone Star, now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

Re: Things that I hate
I've been trying to feel numb all day. It was the stupid (and hilarious, my detached part says) Onion article that really got to me.
People are s***.

There are two. Both of them sum things up very well.
http://www.theonion.com/articles/report ... eta,30741/
And pweb censored the other url. But it's on the top if you go to the onion. "f*** Everything, Nation Reports."

Saw the medical examiner explain what happened. Heard a TV station read the list of names. Crying again.

Re: Things that I hate
I think this is absolutely the best response I've heard to the whole thing.
Turn off the news You want to know why. This may sound cynical, but here’s why.
It’s because of the way the media reports it. Flip on the news and watch how we treat the Batman theater shooter and the Oregon mall shooter like celebrities. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris are household names, but do you know the name of a single *victim* of Columbine? Disturbed
people who would otherwise just off themselves in their basements see the news and want to top it by doing something worse, and going out in a memorable way. Why a grade school? Why children? Because he’ll be remembered as a horrible monster, instead of a sad nobody.
CNN’s article says that if the body count “holds up”, this will rank as the second deadliest shooting behind Virginia Tech, as if statistics somehow make one shooting worse than another. Then they post a video interview of third-graders for all the details of what they saw and heard while the shootings were happening. Fox News has plastered the killer’s face on all their reports for hours. Any articles or news stories yet that focus on the victims and ignore the killer’s identity? None that I’ve seen yet. Because they don’t sell. So congratulations, sensationalist media, you’ve just lit the fire for someone to top this and knock off a day care center or a maternity ward next.
YOU CAN HELP BY FORGETTING YOU EVER READ THIS MAN'S NAME, AND REMEMBERING THE NAME OF AT LEAST ONE VICTIM. You can help by donating to mental health research instead of pointing to gun control as the problem. You can help by turning off the news.

Re: Things that I hate
Don't tell me how to process this, please.
I agree with some of the points. And I disagree with some. And that's fine. But it rather pisses me off to be accused of causing the next mass murder because learning about and trying to understand different aspects of tragedy is just how I cope, has been since 9/11.
Also, gun control AND mental health are both aspects of this, and important ones. "You can help by not pointing to gun control." Um. Just. No. Really.

Who's telling you how to process this? I'm saying that I liked what the originator of that quote had to say about it the best of any of the responses that I've heard so far (even if they weren't really Morgan Freeman).

Whatever. It belongs here in this thread, as I hate it.

I hate our kitchen! It's all still 1940's and we try to keep it all in good repair but you know how that can go . We just got back from town and dinner and julie got the big pie machine going , she only had 2 more pumpkin pies to go to be ready for our family Xmas dinner at our girl Molly's house tomorrrow. She came and found me and with a defeated look on her face told me the oven is dead! And here we have to get 2 turkeys stuffed and in ovens in the morning! I thought of hauling the second bird up to my hunting home in Chewelah 20 some miles north but I have'nt plowed up there in a couple weeks and I'll bet theres 3 feet up there, we got out one of those old electric roaster oven things Gramm gave us and we will make out but holly crap!!! Merry Xmass all!

Re: Things that I hate
I hate that the phones are unusually busy tonight at work. My older sister called to see if I could talk to my nephew for a couple of minutes because they don't think his gerbil will make it through the night and whenever they put him on the phone I get at least a couple more calls waiting when normally the phones hardly ring past 5.
I hate that he's hurting and sad and I can't talk to him for more than 30 seconds right now : ( I hate that I don't know what to say. I know i'm not going to make him happy, but I don't know what to say at all. I told him it's alright to be sad, and that Spike has had a long, very nice, loving life with him and he did a great job with him.
I hate that i'm crying at work.

Re: Things that I hate
So, I have an Aunt to falls for almost every pyramid scheme out there. That would be fine if she kept it to herself, but she is CONSTENTLY shoving whatever she is selling down my family's throats! I absolutely hate hate hate that she never ever talks to me unless it's about whatever she's selling at the moment. I hate that when we were worried about my Mom's cancer coming back, all she said to me was "you should try this product, it'll keep her cancer away". I hate that she's constantly messaging me and commenting on my Facebook statuses about the stupid product! I can't get it across to her to leave me alone and I’ve told her multiple times that I’m not interested. I delete her comments and never respond.
The thing that gets me the most is my Dad can be pretty gullible too and she can really get to him. Most of the time it doesn't go anywhere because my Mom knows better, but this last time she visited she dropped a $400+ box of some weight loss program stuff off for him and now he's more interested.
Just, GRRRRRRRR!

A bike ride when you realize half way through that your tires aren't properly inflated. They seemed well enough when I started, but the ride back was on a slight incline. Made for a hell of work out though.
I don't want to do things. I want to not do things.

This also could have gone in irrational irritations and first world problems but...I hate my current toothpaste (the taste makes my mouth salivate in a non-pleasant way, like, "please get this crap out ASAP") and forgot to pick up another tube.
I think it's a Crest All-in-one or something and I possibly used to get Colgate but got confused at the store. Or the other way around. This is why I got the wrong kind, apparently.

Sunday evening staff meetings. Especially in football season. ESPECIALLY on Championship weekend. This would only be worse on Superbowl Sunday.
Why not next weekend on ProBowl weekend. Nobody cares about that.
And apparently it's going to be 2.5 hours about our performance in 2012....

Re: Things that I hate
I woke up not once, not twice, but three times last night from bad dreams. The first I wouldn't classify as a universal nightmare but it absolutely was to me. I was, at one point, mentally screaming at myself to wake up and once I did, I couldn't fall back asleep at first (nor did I want to). I laid there for just long enough to have to go to the bathroom but I didn't want to go because the nightmare somehow spiked my irrational fears settings and I was now also afraid of there being Critters on my floor that would devour me as soon as I stepped down.
Yes, Critters, from the 80s movies.
No, Critters do not count as monsters under the bed.
They are people-eating aliens.
I finally gave in and texted zero for backup.
So I could go to the bathroom.
It was after 2 in the AM.
Yes, I am technically an adult.

I hate that since I'm a sucker for a sob story, I'm now covering a shift for a coworker tomorrow morning. That will mean working nine out of ten days in a row. That's a lot for part time!

Re: Things that I hate
For no apparent reason, my cousin did not wake up this morning. She was 34. Her birthday was going to be next month. She lived with my sister and my sister tried to wake her up when she didn't get up at normal time. And that's all we know. All anyone knows.
