This morning was a mixture of english muffins with butter, cinnamon, and a bit of sugar, fresh ground and brewed coffee, and paint...From the hutch that was painted in the dining room last night. Way to ruin delicious smells paint. :grumble:

Bread pudding, lasagna, Hong Kong egg tarts, naan dough.

Those are my responsibilities for dinner for our 80 days Prom on saturday. My parents are doing most of the cooking, but they are busier this year than in years past, so I have to cook a bunch. So I've been in the kitchen all day!

It doesn't smell like them anymore but the other night I made Double-Stuf Oreo-stuffed chocolate chip cookies. They are a s***-ton of sugar, so I try to have a liquid on hand to wash the aftertaste away as soon as possible but the actual consumption of it is kind of heavenly.

Those look amazing. I hope "liquid" means milk in this context.

Also, we're smoking salmon to bring home, and will be cooking up jam and cobbler in short order (raspberry and blueberry, respectively). Had a cranberry/banana/trailing-black-currant smoothie for lunch :D

It was mostly milk but the few times I brought one with me to work, it was water.

I love this part of summer when I get the best tomatoes and piles of fresh herbs with every meal. Even lettuce wraps are great now, but it's getting to be a challenge to beat the deer to the best veggies first, they're getting smarter about getting in the gardens and they shure make a mess.

Brian just informed me that some coworkers have been begging for my strawberry lemonade cupcakes (that I made once over a year ago!) and that they are willing to pay him for one. I guess I may be starting a cupcake business.

God I love oven pancakes. What recipe do you use? I think my recipe is pure eggs, flour, and butter.

To answer both of your questions: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/oven-pancakes/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And yes, I ate the whole thing (with homemade raspberry jam on parts, and maple syrup on other parts), and yes I feel some amount of shame regarding that decision.

If I make it again I'll probably use a bigger pan so it can puff up more.

Yeah, we always called them German pancakes, but whatever floats your boat!

The cinnamon is pretty key, by the way. Enhances it ten-fold.

You guys are making me hungry and lonesome for where I'm grown from . Gramm's cookin was the grandest and I so miss the blinnis, abelskievers and her dutches cakes with that hot strong thick boiled coffee. Most of all I need one of Gramms hugs and her telling me I am still her "little butterball".

My kitchen reeks of sauted mushrooms, we had good luck with the white chanterells this year the rains must have been just right. It's always a challenge to get them all conserved. They are so so damn good and luxurious.

OK, so here's what's going to happen:

1) I win the lottery
2) I buy a couple of planes for you to finish
3) I bake some bananabanana bread
4) You make some coffee
5) I come by, with the bananabanana bread
6) We have some bananabanana bread and coffee, and go up in in a boxcar, or one of your radial-engined planes
7) You promise not to tell my girlfriend that I went up in a radial-engined plane.

What the hell do women have against aircraft? I'm often shocked at what I hear .Even my father in law gets atacked for taking any intrest and he was in the AF at the end of the Korean conflict. I get treated like I'm piloting a goram missile, if im flying over the farm and she's working in the garden and I'm trying to get the grandkids attention and they are jumping around waving she wont even look up . I thought we would fly all over the place n do stuff like this together. I did'nt want to retire this young and hate it , I got to keep movin can't sit on the damn porch!

Boothby I was going to ask you about that soup, never had anything like that .Is matso ball made from like ground up crackers or some type of ground meal or fish? It looks great regardless and I'm known to try anything that dosen't try me first. PS. I'm finding a lot of great wild shrooms this year and am on the prowl for new great ways to cook em up. Anyone have any favorite mushroom recipes to share please?

By far our favorite mushroom recipe is Smitten Kitchen's Mushroom Lasagna.

Buckshot,

Matzoh balls are made from matzoh meal. You can buy it in a container, like oatmeal:

Image

Or in boxes, pre-measured:

Image

I've found that I prefer making the matzoh balls according to the instructions on the box, rather than the slightly more complicated recipe on the larger container.

But here's the trick that they DON'T tell you: when you boil them, boil them in the stock you'll be serving them with, whether it's vegetable stock (with the gumbo), or chicken stock (more typical).

I also add garlic powder to the mazoh balls when I mix them up.

Matzoh meal is, of course, made from ground up matzoi*:
