Something about this bench makes me think Alea would appreciate it. A rare example of municipal art that I enjoy!

I've been following Chris Hadfield's tumblr and whenever he shows NFLD from the ISS I think of Jan and Paul.

The book I finished yesterday had a character who was an eccentric older gentleman. For whatever reason, I thought of buckshot. I don't think they're too similar (character owned a Christmas tree farm and had a pet possum) but still, it was pretty great.

Poor buckshot. He's probably such a caricature that we all have built up in our minds. Can't say he doesn't inadvertently help that, though!

I don't think you're really that eccentric. You're just different enough from most of us to seem a little odd from our perspective.

I'm in Rotterdam. I haven't read Ender's Shadow in a long time, but it's not at all how I imagined it.

indeed: i have a feeling the Rotterdam of ES isn't at all comparable to the Rotterdam of Earth 2013. Probably a good thing.

so in my English class there is one girl who is smart, but she is always smart-mouthing off the teacher, she reminds me quite a bit of Petra. We were in the middle of discussing immigration and she was going off on some thing about who knows what. (I wasn't exactly paying attention in class...) Then she happened to mention that her dads family had immigrated to the US when her father was a child. So we ask her where from.

I was entertaining Nom on our walk through the park, and I spotted some pigeons and sped up with the pram, to chase them. Then I remembered it was spring and I was probably being disruptive to them (beyond the usual), so I felt mean and stopped. Thanks, Nomi!

I must confess, that when I happen to be in a city and around large numbers of pigeons, I too occasionally chase them.

Doing a google image search for "yarn bombing" has left me totally amazed. How did I not know this was a thing?

Courtney and I harvested honey today with my dad, and we spent a lonnnnng time rescuing bees that were trapped in the honey, because I felt so bad for them trapped and struggling in the food we had stolen from them. Then I realized the Hive Queen would be entirely perplexed by this line of reasoning.

buckshot, I would have thought an old farmer like you would have seen it before! We do it the old fashioned way too, with my grandfather's hand-cranked extractor. The best part is scooping out "pawfuls" of honey mixed with scraps of comb to snack on before it gets filtered and cooked (don't want any yeast turning it to mead while it's in jars waiting for us to eat it)!
