Watching this video, I had a weird feeling I was seeing what buckshot does with his spare time.
ME TOO! I was just coming in to post a link but you beat me to it.
Someone needs to poke him in here to watch it and tell us if that's him.

At the zoo today, I felt a weird twinge of conscience when I told Atty "Look at the monkeys!" when we were watching apes.
:grumble:

Did you say "Look at the lions" when you're at the tiger cage? :stoned:

Tonight's episode of Jeopardy had the category "Chicago the Beautiful" and it reminds me of Alea, as anything Chicago does!

Hey Elf n Thoughtreader! I have seen it and yes I have to admit to having a few homebuilt oddball machines at the homeplace. I can't figure what keeps that tractor from rolling over, any of you who have ever driven a little wheel tractor know well that the steering on the best of them have a lot of play. That guy is fearless or crazy. I have this real joke of a rig here made from mostly a Big Bud brand articulated tractor ( with a joint in the middle using 2 big hyd cyls to steer with powered with a really big cat diesel marine engine) and parts from just about everything else ever on the place even the diesel out of a smallish tugboat topped off with the cab from a favorite old combines cab and controls. Just to prove my lack of good judgement I hooked it up to a dying blue spruce in my son in law's front drive with a 200 ft 1 inch cable and when I locked both diff-locks and got those huge 8 tires turning I went right through the black top on the county road and turned it to gravel. Oh and the tree flattened the grandkids swing set up thing I got lucky and the county had a sense of humor about the road top. Just to prove it has power my pard Tim and I hooked the beast up to two of the biggest plows in this part of the country a 9 and 10 bottom 22 in moldboard plows . and it just went . I have no idea what it would do or what use it would have but I have had a lot of guys looking at it wanting to put it to work. A couple of logging outfits up north are interested in using it as a giant skidder in the woods but I have too much blood and knuckle in it I doubt I would ever sell it , maybe I'll use it for a sign along the hiway for our feed mill.

One of the writers of a sports blog that I read was doing an end of the year mailbag type of post. And the last question was what he was looking forward to in 2013. He started with a bunch of sports stuff, then went into some personal stuff and then he finished with... the Ender's Game movie! I thought that was pretty awesome and it also reminded me that I have been severely neglecting this place.

I've been playing Assassin's Creed 3, which is mostly set in Boston and NYC, and man, now I feel bad that I only thought of Kelly, like, once.

Plus I've been learning so much about Boston. Did you know there's this hill? With a beacon on it? And they call it Beacon Hill?

To continue with the Boston theme, it is my hope to finally go there sometime this year. I've been wanting to for years on end and with no major trips planned for the year so far, not even to AZ, I just might be able to do it.

I was riding the MAX on tuesday and pulled Ruins (I swear I will finish it this week) out of my back pack to read. The young man sitting across from me asked about it and we had a great OSC/Ender conversation. He had read most of his recent main works but I told him about Treason, Song master, and a few of his non series titles that I really enjoyed .

That is good to know. zero recently gifted me with Treason, Song Master and Maps in a Mirror, none of which I've read.

Well, more of a Pweb, Jr. Reading "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" to Atty reminded me of Ginny. And that reminded me to do voices.

Hm. I didn't know the Pope could resign. Does he get to join in selecting the next Pope? Is he kicked out of the Vatican?

Edit: reading one article answered all those questions. Just ignore me.

The first thing I thought when I heard about this is, "I MUST share this with Pweb!"

Humans can enter the Third Life!

(I realize this article is nearly 2 years old, so sorry if this is old news)

This is so cool. Every time I see an article that reminds me of Ender's Game I wanna write about it. Maybe I should start a new news category "Ender in Real Life" or "Ender-esque" idk I'm pretty terrible with titles.

It is for work! I should be getting my itinerary soon.. or so I am told. I'm there March 8-10th, I know the 8th and 9th everything is planned out unless you would want to go out late at night but in that case you would have to escort me everywhere because I am definitely not comfortable walking around by myself at night there. I might have some free time the afternoon of the 10th! I'll know when I get my schedule and let you know. =] I know I could have just responded on Facebook, but I wanted a reason to come back and catch up more here.

I work that weekend but would be willing to escort you around at night for a bit if you're comfortable with that. Change that lunch to dessert or warm drink, if you're so inclined.

Snowstorm In Chicago Delays Hundreds Of Morning Murders

CHICAGO—The city of Chicago is steadily recovering from an overnight snowstorm that delayed hundreds of murders on Friday morning and will likely continue to push numerous homicides across the city drastically behind schedule, public authorities announced. “As we speak, maintenance crews are working diligently to restore public transportation, de-ice roads, and clear back alleyways so that Chicagoans can quickly resume murdering again,” Department of Streets and Sanitation spokesman Dave Michelson said of the heavy blizzard, which caused numerous homicide cancellations this morning at peak murder times. “Unfortunately, we’re backed up by about 35 deadly shootings at the moment, but we hope to restore regular death tolls as soon as possible. We apologize to anyone forced to postpone shootings or other killings today and assure concerned murderers that they will be able to resume slayings by the early afternoon.” At press time, authorities reported that murders were up and running in many parts of the city, with four teenagers already gunned down on Chicago’s South Side.
Step softly; a dream lies buried here.
