what could we do in person that we cant do here?

aside from meet and greet.

though if there were actualy one held I suppose I would still try to come...

but these people here live all over the world.

but I guess i'd have to say yes.

I vote yes but in truth I could only make it if it were held somewhere in the midwest.

There are lot of things we could do in person that we can't do here! Most of them are not suitable for children, and some people do them anyway, but that is besides the point! I didn't get to go to EnderCon, I want PwebCon!

Three's something to be said for meeting folks in person so you can tell when someone's being sarcastic and when they're being an ass.

After you meet someone in person, you can see the expressions on their faces as they type. Take this from someone who met online friends and had it improve my relationships with them.

May I reccomend sunny Sacramento? Or not-sunny-at-all San Francisco?

I vote midwest because it's in the middle. I don't want to go all the way to California.

The smart thing would be to have it in Greensboro since Card actually lives there. Maybe we could finagle him into hanging out with us. :-p

Well, who can come and who can't depends greatly on where it is, and when. Those two questions really need settling first.

Here is the way things are turning in my head:

1. Figure out who would be interested
2. find an approximate middle ground (the state or province)
3. get everyone to decide on the activity
4. finalize location

I think it's safe to assume most people are interested.

Pick a location, and a time, and then people will be able to say with much greater certainty. I have a feeling this won't be so much a con as a regional meet-up. I like meet-ups, so I'm fine with this. But the general Pweb demographic is too young and too subject to the whims of school to make a big event.

I'm pretty sure there are far more than that. (And I'm sure some have just not shared their age; with good reason, in my opinion.)

I actually may be interested in such an event, as antisocial as I am, but probably only if it's somewhere in the midwest US.

Except that a middle ground doesn't make as much sense. Because, well--it'd be a lot easier for 7 out of 14 people to go to a coast than it would be for 11 out of 14 people to meet in the middle.

At any rate, I could only come if it was in NYC or, possibly, Toronto.

I agree that a big city on either coast (or in the middle, like Chicago) would make the most sense because flights are always cheaper to big cities with hub airports.

Bah humbug.

Me, Yebra, Jota and Falka will have a EuroPWebCon. We'll have it in the place between Ireland, England, Spain and Luxembourg: France.

...

Ah, screw it.

I think what she's saying is say you have three people on the west and eight people on the east. You have the con in the east and eight people would go, you have it in the middle and maybe five people will go from either side. So anon is saying the place needs to be chosen in order to get the highest number of people, not to even out the travel distance.

I'm so there, if I CAN be.
If we're going to do it on the east coast, I vote that its over the summer or during a break. If its not on the east coast, I can only do it if its within a busride from St Louis- meaning no west coast for me- or Canada, probably.

No, because not a lot of people live there. That means hotels for everyone. Plus, there's not much to DO in Kentucky. It's as depressing as Ohio.

It has to be a big city with (preferably) a lot of members. It's cheaper to fly to, and cheaper to stay at. Also, there are events we can go to.

Seems that it makes more sense to go to a place where a fair number of members live. That saves on hotel fees for them as well as for people who are able to stay with them.

That means that NYC or TO would probably be a good choice.

I would prefer the west coast, but anywhere could work for me.
