Moving...?

So I'm moving to Seattle... maybe.
We moved From Portland OR to Chattanooga TN so my husband could go to grad school and get his MBA and he graduated (yay!). But there really are no jobs for him here, and no offense to the south but I really don't fit in and its really hard to like living in a place where i can't make friends because i just don't fit in.
So we're moving... maybe. Moving in with his parents.
My Father in-law just got stationed in Seattle, they are house hunting as i type. they are moving there on July 1st. We will be leaving on July 1st if a job doesn't happen.
To make matters more difficult I'm on a LOA from work because I torn my labrum carrying a 5-gallon bucket of paint. I had surgery to fix it and now i can't work... I can't lift push or pull anything with my left arm. This makes packing difficult. this makes getting a transfer to a different home depot practically impossible. this makes moving just all that harder then it has to be.
But I am excited! I love the Pacific NW. My crazy liberal hippy self fits in there. I can be comfortable and be myself and I'm really excited for that. And i really love my in-laws so moving in with them should be fun.

Enjoy Seattle! It wasn't entirely for me but a lot of people I know love it! Though I apparently did like it enough to not be completely adverse to moving back at some point so yeah, it could be awesome!

Moving sucks.

Safe trip, good luck, and all that jazz! I hope it's not too much of a pain!

The last time we moved, four years ago, I was still healing from a broken ulna and surgery to insert a metal plate and screws into it. I couldn't do much to help and it was very difficult! I hope your move goes well, if it happens.

no offense to the south
Pfft, it's the South...it deserves all the offense it can get. ;)

I very selfishly want you to end up in the PacNW, so I can hopefully see you in October.

Less selfishly, I hope your shoulder heals up nicely and I hope jobs are found wherever it will best suit you and the Mr.

I will now try not to get my hopes up too high, just in case.

Is it bad that I'm hoping my husband doesn't get a job in the south?
Is it ?

But I am hoping he get the job of his dreams in the Pac NW!

Based off this:
I really don't fit in and its really hard to like living in a place where i can't make friends because i just don't fit in.
I'd say no. It really is its own culture there and sometimes people are incompatible with other cultures. I don't think that's wrong or bad, regarding either the person or the place, it just is.

Seriously, whatever outcome is best for the both of you is what I'd like to see happen.

So the in-laws found a house its a nice 4 bed near the bus lines (a very good thing because i don't drive...). And it has a HUGE fenced back yard for Cleo (the dog) to run in! She will also be pooping in this yard and i have been put in charge of "land mine: clean up :(. But i'm still excited for her, I told her in my best super excited voice and she moved one ear. Not the response i was looking for, I think she'll be happy when she see's it.
On our end we are getting everything ready to go, slowly packing boxes, selling on craig's list the things that just wont fit in the 4x6 trailer we bought. my house is starting to feel empty.

Renton has the only Fry's Electronics in the state and you have a nice mall one city over in Tukwila and the Beoing Museum of Flight too.

s***!
SO our plan was to dive our Subaru across the country towing a small trailer...
Subaru is totaled :( A crushed pile of sad.
we were in a car crash tonight, we're ok I'm worried that i might have re injured my newly fixed shoulder and my back is a little sore but i think (hope) we are all fine. All the people from the other cars seemed to be fine too.
But this really sucks we were going to be leaving in 10 days. how in the hell are we going to find a good car to get us there in 10 freaking days!!!!

not sure how that happened

Too bad for you and your car! That sucks to have to trust a new used car to move cross country in . Good luck and welcome to the state of Wa. 8)

I'm looking at apartments/townhomes next weekend, which is the only free weekend I have between now and planned weekend move (a few days before my new job starts). Cross your fingers that we find something that we like and that's in our price range!

*fingers crossed*
good luck finding a place to call home.

So the car is officially totaled. The insurance company finally told us what we already knew. So it looks like we're renting a Penske Van to move. SO i get to keep my bed and crapy dressers :). But it is going to cost WAY more then driving our car would have. hopefully we can get the other cars insurance to pay for some of it.

Best of luck to both of you.

I might be moving to New Jersey. If this does go down, it will be for all the right reasons. But I hate New Jersey.

*kicks New Jersey*

We're moving tonight, all of 40 blocks.

It's about as painless as a move can be. It's just across town, and we've got until Thursday to make sure we've got everything out and to give the place a final cleaning.

Even so, I'm in a bad mood over it. Packing, unpacking, figuring out where to put everything in the new place, finding back important things after the move, worrying about getting the deposit back on the old place, sorting through to get rid of things there isn't a place for at the new place...

A handful of people keep asking if I'm excited to move. No, I'm excited to be moved, I'm not at all excited to actually move.

Chris, didn't you just move into this apartment you're leaving? I could swear it wasn't that long ago that you posted those models on FB.

So because we are still without a vehicle out friend Rocco is going to drive Chris to get the moving truck in the morning...
Then they will be joined by a giant ginger viking to load the heavy things while i continue to try and finish packing the rest of the house up.
It is no where near packed, but Chris says "we're almost done". All I can think is "are we looking at the same house?!?!?!"

And WTF is with the freaking gun case locks not locking. Thats your freaking JOB! To keep things locked!! I'd feel much better if you did your job and secured the guns like you're supposed to :(

It's been a year. The new place is much more conveniently located as far as work and school go.

ETA: And as far as views go in Fargo-Moorhead, it's one of the best:

The Truck is all packed up, packing a moving truck around a small 4x6 trailer is a pain in the ass. but we are packed. Now just a but of house cleaning and we will be on our way in the morning.
A day late but we're still getting there.

Internet access may not happen while we're making the cross country voyage. but i'll be sure to check in when we get to Washington.
