And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears.
And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears.
Get over your hill and see what you find there,
With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair.

This is what I carry in my backpack most days. When I go places besides school I usually just have my phone, wallet, keys, and maybe my itouch and chapstick, depending on whether I'm bringing a purse or not. Anyway, the contents of my backpack:
Kleenexes
Chapstick
Hand sanitizer
Lotion
Gloves for the anatomy lab
Cell phone
iTouch
Planner/calendar thing
Band aids
Keys
Headphones
Jump drive
Pen
Pencil
Highlighter
Eraser
Extra lead
Anatomy lab notebook
Notebook
Newspaper with crossword puzzle
Wallet
Hair tie carabiner

I used to hate gravity because it would not let me fly. Now I realize it is gravity that lets me stand.

I fudged it a little-- not everything was in my purse at this exact moment, because I've been switching back and forth from my gym bag to my purse! I keep...
An umbrella
A water bottle
A smaller purse with my wallet, business cards and some movie tickets
Journal
Phone
iPod
Book
Keys (car key, apt key, bike lock key, gym card, library card)
Lip gloss
Pen
And usually my camera, but funny enough it couldn't be in the picture

Is that a blockbuster card? why.jpg
(I actually do like going to video rental places, but that doesn't stop me from thinking it's odd)

Other stuff varies, but this is fairly standard for me to be carting around these days.
On the left, you have my pregnancy records, my day planner, and my research notebook. You never know when you might need to jot down a quick thought on medieval disability! There's my wallet and my phone, and under them a little knit sachet of dried lavender. I like to have it - it makes things smell nice and soothing. On the right you have my avamys, in case my sinuses clog up, my pill case, which in the picture holds two calcium tabs but sometimes contains my other meds/vitamins, and under that a pack of tylenol. Some days I feel like a walking pharmacy. And then there's my keys and a piece of fruit, since I'm still chowing down fruit at an astonishing rate.

They're my work keys. Despite being aware of the 20th century's advances in lock security, England persists in using big honking old-fashioned keys. It's quite amusing.

I actually don't remember much from my childhood. I also don't have many things from that time period. Somehow, this tiny little diary has survived for over 25 years. I wrote in it for about six days when I was 7 years old. If you want to see the first sad entry, click here.

My best friend growing up got married last December. His brother and I had an idea to make a movie starring all of our childhood toys. The movie wasn't finished in time, but the end result is that I have a crate full of toys in my apartment.
A handful of that collection are shown below. If you're interested, here was our full cast of heroes and villains.
Only six-ten (depending on how you count the Turbo Megazord) of those pictured are actually from my childhood. Four belong to my girlfriend. The rest are more recent acquisitions, most all of them purchased to play a role in our ill-fated movie attempt.

Me too.I really, really want to hug little Nomi. (And grown up Nomi, too!)
My photo.
This is Max Wrinkles. I've had him since I was five. He has no fur on his nose because I used to suck on it as a child.
Now, Ginny plays with him and calls him Puppy.

Dude, I had that same Usagi figure, and no, he's not a villain.*squints* Is that a pissed-off usagi yojimbo in the bottom-right? I didn't know they made figures of him (and he's a villain?)

I don't have a Wind Swept Approved stamp. Imagine one here.EVIL BEN FRANKLIN. WE MEET AT LAST.... and villains.
We made him a villain for some reason... I don't recall, now.(and he's a villain?)
The concept behind the movie was that our childhood toys were giving my friend a wedding present, that present being a Buzz Lightyear. Krang put together a plan to disguise himself and take Buzz's place as the wedding gift. We swapped Buzz out and put Krang in the packaging. It was terribly amusing to watch my friend's face as he opened the present.

I had a Wrinkles handpuppet too. I think we got them as "mommy and daddy still love you" presents when my youngest sister was born.
This is Teddy Bear. I never managed to name him anything else. This challenge was actually a bit of a challenge for me, because I don't have a lot of childhood things in England. Teddy is just about it. I got him on my fifth birthday, and we've been inseparable since.

I'm going to start the very long process of sorting through my room tomorrow. I hope to dig up some good childhood artifacts. And if that fails, I think I still have my Lion King headband and Mickey Mouse clip.

I'm not too late! Good!
So, recent pweb-inspired thoughts prompted me to find Pretty Vision, my Brush-and-Grow pony from around 1987. (Brush-and-Grow ponies had super long manes and tails, and you could make the tails shorter by giving the head a few clockwise half-turns.)
Oh, my goodness! What fun. I cleaned her up as best I could, first, but she does now have quite a few stains. That's okay, though. Then I grabbed my husband's hairbrush and sat down to untangle that long, lovely hair. And, man, it was every bit as much fun as I remembered.
So, here's Pretty Vision, all brushed for the first time in years:
Turns out the Brush-and-Grow mechanism still works! Here's her tail at about half-length.
The sound the mechanism made attracted Tara, and we had some trouble keeping her out of the rest of the photoshoot (and from attacking Pretty Vision, actually. Sigh. The cat was born around the year 2000 and has no appreciation of 80s pop-culture toys.)
Then, as must happen when a woman is reunited with her My Little Pony of girlhood, some serious four-strand braiding ensued.
We also tried a ponytail. Alas, my hair accessories are now adult sized and don't look quite as cute as in years past.
We also tried the romantic curl.
What to do, what to do?
However, in the end, we agreed she tends to look best with her locks in their natural state of glory.
And, now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go and call my parents and make sure the rest of my Ponies are safely in storage. Not that I, um, want them really badly and am having urges to recreate my childhood ponyland or anything. No. Just, you know, out of curiousity.

That is awesome.
I don't remember personally owning the toys, though I did play with my cousins' collection whenever we were in San Diego. I did, however, own this sleeping bag:
which I guess can be my picture for the month because I haven't uploaded the thing I was originally intending.
ETA: About Lisa Frank, I remember wanting some stationary and various stuff but never being allowed to get any for some reason. It made me terribly sad way back when.
