One of my best buds has an old 1942 AT 11 version and a later B-18 tri gear conversion called a Volpar. I fly the taildrager often it was a gunnery trainer and had turrets at one time and maybe again someday. I just barely fit in a twin Beech.

I forgot I do have an old boeing stearman apart in my shop where it has been for way too too long which has the P&W 985 or 450 radial and the C119's both have twin Wrights

I'm house/dog sitting for some good friends of mine this week and get to hand out with this little bear all week! Normally I would consider this a "puntable" or fake dog, much more of a german shepherd kind of guy myself, but this lttle guy is so freaking cool and hilarious and fun! Also his name is Oso, which means bear in Spanish, which I just think is awesome and funny given that he's about 8 lbs Image

I mean I'm just a bit outside of Washington DC and I haven't seen that many, not enough to make it seem odd anyway. That could be because I'm close to the city though.

I'm freaking old and also dorky. Apparently saying people are "going out" has gone out. I did not know this.

Really?? Says who? I think it's still in. Granted, I say people are going steady as well...So I may not be a good harbinger...

As far as I know, "going out" is still in. But I'm not in high school, middle school, or even college any more, so maybe the cool kids all stopped that?

Yeah. I said it to a nineteen year old who started giggling. "Oh my God, going out. I haven't heard that in SO LONG."

Not sure if there are any other Jens Lekman fans out there but I really like him and am on a kick the past few days. Specifically the songs "Shirin", "Friday night at the drive-in bingo", and "Rocky Dennis' Farewell Song." You should all look them up!

Not sure if this will work...but for some reason, I cannot stop watching this. It's possible it's my version of the type of girl who goes baby crazy, only I'm doing it for a pet.

Back when I was a cat person (9yrs old and under), Siamese were the types of cats I had. Gorgeous animals and no more or less friendly than other cats.

Are you allowed any pets in your current apt? If not, get a beardie!! I know Zero is on my side. :)

No, no pets allowed. :(

zero knows the rule is "A puppy or nothing at all." Funny thing is, he made that rule up himself but mostly because he knows whatever pet we eventually have will be for my emotional needs, not his, so I'll be taking care of it and I'll only put the effort in for a puppy.

I like the beardie thing they are neat calm cool critters maybe someday, but I don't trust my wiener dog girls to play nice. Next time they cut on me and I'm stuck at home I'm thinking about buying three or four of those low line angus mini cattle and one bull. They are really neat looking and not half as wild as the standard size, not to mention the way faster growth rate and the meat and breeding stock fetches top dollar. It would be fun to have some cows just for fun but then a beardie or a siameese would be a bit easier to clean up after.

I just noticed that, completely on accident, all but one of the things hanging on my bedroom walls are from/inspired by books. That's pretty cool. 8)

Everything on my bedroom walls is book related. Granted, there's only one thing: this, signed and framed. I need more things on my walls.

My (our) bedroom just got completely "girled" up! was told I have no say and that I "junk up" every other room I spend time in with my deer n elk horns hunting pics, aircraft stuff and baseball pennants. The lady says I hav more square footage of stuff than is believeable and made me promise to never bring anything else into the bedroom.

For any Calvin and Hobbes fans out there (which, if you're a rational human being, should be everyone) a buddy of mine sent me this article. Not really anything I hadn't heard but I think it's still good!

If only I had some experience in giving interviews, I might be less nervous about the interview I am giving Friday morning...

So over the weekend I met this girl, suuper cool, we hit it off and we'll see where things go, if anywhere. But the awesome part is that she works for NASA and is partly responsible for the LADEE launch that took place on Friday night (Launched from VA and was visible all the way up to Maine and down through the Carolinas, very cool. I saw it from my back yard.) She's going to give me a private tour of the Goddard Space center including the clean rooms that we have to suit up head to toe to go into and such. She also said that they have another launch in a few months and if I want to make the trip back from Nashville she can probably hook it up so that we can go watch it. I'm geeking out a little bit right now. Awesome, super cute girl, AND she works for NASA and loves motorcycles...This sounds too good to be true haha

I always thought people who voluntarily did not have health insurance were kind of foolish. Medical care is expensive--why would you choose to have to pay for it all yourself? But looking at how much my new job's health plans are, I can understand. Health insurance is a heck of a lot more money than I thought it would be. And for someone who hasn't been to an emergency room or to see a doctor in a decade (bad on me for not getting annual check-ups, I know), it seems like a huge waste of money. Which, I know, is pretty much how insurance works--you pay for something that most likely isn't going to happen--but yikes.

New job? Congrats!

The nice thing about my last job was, we (single coverage people) paid nothing out of our checks for the best plan they offered, which was, surprisingly, really good. Family plans weren't terribly expensive. Here, were I qualified for health insurance, it'd be $130/mo for single coverage, which still seems okay-ish but definitely more than the 0 I used to pay for it. So, in a way, I am kind of saving money not having it but it's also not my choice.

Are you looking at plans with high deductibles? Those often make more sense for young healthy sorts.
