Well, here's the weird thing. I feel like Ginny was born just yesterday but in my head, both her and Maggie came out as Big Kids. Or at least, they don't seem so baby-ish to me. It's like that with Tyler, too.

I passed the one hour glucose tolerance test! No three hour test for me!

I am also anemic, but I can fix that.

Woohoo! Those three hour tests are the pits. Not that I've done one, but I've drawn the blood for them and I just feel like a cruel person.

Also, on the GTT, I had the fruit punch flavored drink, which is apparently much less awful than the orange one. It just tasted like red gatorade.

Yay newly pregnant pweb person!

And, I had my first pregnancy craving yesterday! Life cereal and bananas. Not as gross as the stereotypical pickles and ice cream, though, I don't like Life cereal OR bananas, so most definitely strange.

Yeah, what is the deal with this? Life is great! Does it maybe get too soggy?

Hi. I'm Confessions. I'm pregnant. PLEASE HELP ME.

I feel like such absolute s***. I feel like the worst hangover ever in existence, multiplied by a million. I am nauseous and exhausted and I hate food and my head hurts so much that I might actually be crying right now. I have no idea how I'm going to make it through work today. Or the day after, or the day after that.

I haven't actually vomited yet, but I almost wish I would because it might be better than the constant queasyness. I'm a hair shy of 7 weeks (early, I know) and up until this point have been feeling great aside from the fatigue.

All your tips and tricks and coping methods, please, please share them with me. I am so miserable.

*giant, giant hugs*

I swear, I swear. It will get better. I'm so sorry you're so miserable now. It may get worse before it gets better, but it will get better.

Other people might have more tips for working through nausea/headaches - I had a couple weeks of nausea, but it wasn't a major part of my pregnancy. One thing I did was have lemons on hand to sniff since my nausea seemed connected to my super sensitive nose. I know some people swear by ginger. Pharmacies sell pregnancy pops, I've heard, too, but couldn't tell you how good they are.

The tired part - well, you do what you can when you can, and when you can't you take a break, then do a little more. Small goals and short naps are friends.

On a big-picture level, I'm happy for you with all my heart and am sending all my best wishes for a healthy pregnancy.

Yay! My suspicions confirmed! :grouphug:

I'm sorry you're feeling so crappy, Kelly. I echo everything Kirsten says, plus if you haven't seen your doctor, it might be good to do so if you're feeling that crappy - there are drugs you can take to help with morning sickness.
If you're worried about taking anything for headaches or pain, check out Mother Risk, it's a great resource for what's safe and not safe during pregnancy.

The only way I found to keep the nausea at bay was eating constantly -usually carrot sticks. Take each day at a time and consider telling your employer early so they know what's going on.

I KNEW it!

I'm sorry you're feeling so sick!, Unfortunately for me, nothing helped except rx drugs. (zofran, phenergan) Oh, and NOT taking my vitamin, but I was only that brave once I hit 2nd trimester of my 4th pregnancy. (Try taking 2 gummy vitamins at night, instead of a prenatal.) And Jan is right about keeping something in your stomach. All my body wanted was carbs. Carrot sticks would have been better! Haha!

Things that are gross to throw up: meat, dark colored sodas, salad, acidic things (tomato products, fresh citrus).

Listen to Kirsten and try and take small naps whenever you can. Lunch time maybe? Go to bed early as often as possible and have David massage your legs, feet and back as much as you can convince him to!

Remember, you are growing a whole new human being. It's practically a full-time job, so cut yourself some slack and cut back on things that aren't important.

I'm so excited for you! And I'm so excited for this baby to have you guys as parents!

I second (third) the constant eating suggestion. I feel like all I ate from 6-10 weeks was bland carbs. Lots of mashed potatoes. Mac and cheese if I was feeling "good". I also ate a lot of freezer pops (Pop ice, etc. Those popcicles in the plastic that you cut the top off of.)

As for fatigue, I don't have any better advice than to sleep whenever possible. I'd get home from work and pretty much go straight to bed. I took naps in my car at lunch. I pretty much napped all day on my days off.

I can't add a whole lot to what other people have said aside from that I found I was less nauseous on days when I had to get up and eat breakfast. It really helped.

Oh, and if there's a chance your headaches might be sinus-related, there ARE baby-safe things you can take. Pregnancy seems to mess with your mucus glands or something, and I found most of my headaches lessened if I could clear out my sinuses some.

Congrats for baby, hope things get better fast!!

Thanks guys.

I left work after two hours yesterday, which I feel a little guilty about, but I was totally blindsided by nausea and pain (yesterday was my first run-in with morning sickness, and I was NOT prepared). Driving on the highway while dry-heaving is not my idea of a good time.

I went home, called a friend and begged her to pick up some supplies for me. I spent the day in bed slowly eating an entire sleeve of saltines and sipping on gingerale. And sleeping.

Assuming Day 1 is anything to go by, my morning sickness will pretty much stick to happening in the morning. The intense symptoms faded by 1:00, and I was just left feeling mildly s***** for the rest of the day and evening. When David came home I sent him out for popsicles, which also helped a bit.

I put a packet of saltines by my bed and ate several this morning as soon as I woke up, before even getting out of bed. Dry toast for breakfast. I'm at work, and determined to stay my full shift, but I'm already starting to feel like s*** again. Saltines and popsicles, it is.

ETA: I gave up drinking soda with corn-syrup in it about six years ago--the one exception being ginger-ale when I'm very sick. But I am drinking a can of Coke right now, and it is THE BEST THING ON EARTH. It is a MIRACLE ELIXER, Y'ALL. Coke is my new best friend.

Coke is no longer super magical. Tragic. I bought Sea Bands out of desperation, but I hate having things pressing my wrists, so the experiment has been unpleasant so far. Told my boss about the pregnancy because he's been vocally concerned about how terrible I look this week.

Water amplifies my nausea, which is a problem, because dehydration just makes the nausea worse.

My first pre-natal appointment is today. I think science and medicine is rad. I also happen to have a major medical phobia. The clinic I go to has plenty of midwives as well as doctors, and we hope to give birth at the birthing center adjoined to the hospital (with medical professionals and equipment nearby--I'm aiming for a drug-free, surgery-free birth, but if the pain becomes unproductive, or if there's an emergency then I am all too happy to let medicine and science save the day).

I know the appointment will be long, and I know that I'm going to have blood drawn, among other things, and this has me panicking slightly. I know any pain or discomfort I experience will be fleeting, I know that I trust my providers and that this (and the many appointments that follow) are to ensure my health and the baby's. I know David will be there the whole time and will take care of me.

But I still hate it and am anxious and ugh.

The unknown sucks. I hope it all goes smoothly today, so you can put yourself at ease. Most appts will be easier, with weight check, urine dip, belly measurement and a doppler for heart beat. Those appts are fun!

Water made me throw up. It was horrible. Even dumping a cup of water into the sink would send me to the bathroom! I so feel your pain! Do try to stay hydrated a much as possible. I really think my stretch marks got so bad so early because I was dehydrated.

Drinks that worked for me:
Sparkling grape juice or apple juice. (maybe invest in a carbonator to save money in the long run?)
Warm Beef stock. (I don't really like chicken soup, so chicken stock was no good for me. It may be wonderful for you!) Homemade with lots of veggies would make it super healthy!

I will send good universe vibes out for a successful birth experience!
