Iceburg lettuce is so useless. Even worse, that's usually the only greens that people give to bearded dragons and it's really bad for them!

Huh. I prefer salads made from iceberg. Romaine is so blegh to me and I don't pay attention enough to know about other kinds.

Video games. Oh my lordy, video games.

Maybe you have to start young or have good eye-hand coordination or patience or a certain type of intelligence because I cannot, for the life of me, excel at any video game I've ever tried, save Tetris. I don't even know I'd do well on that if I tried now. Oh, I guess I was okay at one track of a Mario Kart game but that took playing every single night, for hours on end to get mediocre. I was alright at Street Fighter, too, I think it was but I was just pressing random s*** at that point and lucked into some wins.

I don't hate games but I don't really like them, either, mainly because every time I think I might give it another shot, I fail so epically that I get too discouraged to keep trying. And at this point, the only people I know who could help me are sooooo far beyond my level that I imagine it's like teaching someone to drive...frustrating and not worth the time to help.

All that to say, the obvious thing to do here is just not be friends with nerds or else my pride will be a constant shade of blue and black. :D

Irrational Irritation: Pens left unclicked so the ink is still out. I don't know if it even has a significant impact on drying out the ink at all, but it's such an easy thing to fix. Don't leave the poor pen ready to write when you're not going to write with it anytime soon!

Guilty Pleasure: Paper Mario.

Guilty pleasure: I love Mini-Golf. I find it so fun, and I actually like to play so that I get a good score.

Irrational Irritation: No one ever wants to go.

Jan, I feel that way about batting cages. Around here, mini-golf and batting cages tend to go together, but in my specific town, we haven't had either in years.

All that to say, if I were there, I'd definitely be in for a game or two if you didn't mind waiting for me to take a few swings after.

ok, from now on, i'm hanging out with the two of you, cuz that sounds like a bunch of fun.

there's a place in madison that has 2 outdoor and one indoor minigolf courses a 9 hole par 3 that's pretty fun, range, AND batting cages.

we should party in mad town!

Hold that thought?

If all pans out, we can have a MidWestCon next year. Since you and brain live in opposite directions, I vote we meet in the "middle": my place! *grin*

Speaking of cons, are we still wanting to go to Colorado sometime this year?

Wanting/trying? Yes. Not sure it's going to work out but the effort is being made.

Now, I'm not going to mention any names ( ;) ) but waiting for an okay from a certain someone pushed me from "No one else at work has claimed weekends past (at the time) June" to "Oh, we're looking at the next availability being in January 2012? Seriously?"

It's not that bad, exactly, but it is complicated since there are only 6 of us. To give you an idea of how much they all love to take vacations, I have the second highest bank of vacation hours and I'm second only to a 20+ year employee.

Portland worked out only because I was looking 6 months in advance and didn't try so hard at all to accommodate others.

Too long; didn't read? We'll see what happens.

Irrational Irritation (from yesterday):

Coworker, seeing me arrive on my bike: It's not too warm out. It's nice, actually.
Me:...yeah. Nice.

Me, thinking: You drove!! You have AC! What the hell do you know of warm?!

Ugh, car people, don't comment to me on how warm it is on the way to or from work. I'm in "Prevent heatstroke" mode every afternoon, no joke.

The stupid E-Harmony commercial. "At e-harmony, we sincerely care about you."

Bullshit. You sincerely care about making money. That's possibly the least sincere and stupidest relationship website ploy I have ever seen or heard.

*double post--apparently I'm irritable this week*

Irrational Irritation: Snooze buttons. If you can hit the snooze button 5 times and still be on time (and, indeed, seem to plan for it), just set your alarm for later. You'll sleep much better without it going off every 10-15 minutes, as will those around you. That 10 minute snooze doesn't help that much. I promise.

Guilty Pleasure: Setting my alarm 24 minutes earlier than I have to be up, so I can hit the snooze three times. *sheepish*

Some mornings I can pop right out of bed, no problems, but most mornings, I'm so tired, I want the illusion of getting to sneak a little more sleep in. It really does make me feel better to think I'm getting 24 extra minutes.

"I don't have to get up right now? I get an extra 8 minutes? This is a gift." x2.

On the flip side, I definitely see where you're coming from and if I had to worry about someone suffering as a result of my habits, I would, without a doubt, put an end to it.

Guilty Pleasure: Wedding photography blogs. I may be addicted...
Last Sunday, I watched at least 10 videos of the NYTimes wedding site.

(I want to get married at City Hall, what is this self?

Though, having nearly accidentally walked through a handful of city hall weddings on the way to the mail room, I would probably reconsider)

Guilty Pleasure: Being the jerk on the road that actually goes the speed limit when everyone else wants to speed.

Guiltier Pleasure: Being the jerk who enjoys them trying to push me to go faster by kissing my ass, vehicle-wise. I'm not going to speed for anyone and may in fact get my head blown off one day because sometimes I'll even drop a MPH or two if they're too persistent in their efforts. Is that road rage, too?

Yeah, it's passive-aggressive road rage. But that's okay.

My good friend recently told me that my other good friend told her that he can't believe I drive the speed limit. I knew that introducing them would be a good idea; now I can get all of the dirt.

But seriously, complaining that someone goes the speed limit? "Like, always. He always does." I've sped when it was an emergency. Not serious speeding, the "standard" five over. But it was pretty crazy for me.

i speed. cop friends basically say that unless the cop is in a bad mood or something, they won't do anything for 9 mph over, and 10 they'll flash you, 11 you're getting stopped.

i go the 9 over as a rule. and i get annoyed when i'm going that fast and people tail gate me to try and get me to speed up. if they get too close, i slow way down when they can't pass, and if that doesn't work, and they get closer. they don't get the hint, i'll go as far as to speed up for the times that they could pass, and then slow way down for no passing areas. i figure if you're going to be an ass hat, i'm going to be a bigger one. the slowest i've gotten was 35 in a 55. just to piss off the a****** behind me. but he almost hit me so he deserved it.
