Are you having the baby at home or the hospital? And you have a midwife? Doula? I know you've mentioned one or both.
In the hospital again. I seriously considered a homebirth this time around, but it's not as possible in Newfoundland. I have a doula.
I had a midwife in Manitoba, but I had to switch to a doctor when we moved, cause midwives aren't coved by healthcare in this province.

Well duh, everyone should name their babies Joshua Andrew. It's a pretty awesome name and common enough that you never have to explain to anyone how it's spelled or pronounced.
Dude, we have the same middle name and first initial.

Really Jan, if it's a boy, and he's born on my birthday, I think you almost have to name him after me. Same name, same birthday, and here's the real crazy part... my mom's name is Janis!

Yes, but if it's a girl, and she's born on MY birthday (which is the DUE date, after all), then they have to name her after ME.

All I ask is that if you name her after me, you spell it properly, with only one L.

If she's born way late in December, like I was, then they --

Don't have to name her after me.

I mean, I love my name, but MAN, I get tired of telling people how to pronounce it. Plus, I almost accidentally got my name changed to Kristen on our marriage license. DESPITE slowly and carefully and clearly spelling it out to the clerk.

There's another life out there...

Funny. Naomi and Kirsten were the top two choices I came up with when Jan mentioned it but then, I thought I'd really like for them to have a boy and there are some nice boy names around here but I'm not sure there's anything that really sticks out. No offense to the boys.

I haven't mentioned this, but one of our big contenders for a name is the same (real) name as a poster here. So there is actually a small chance that it will seem like we've really named our baby after you!
So, you're naming him after Jebus?

Not at all. It just takes people a while to realize that it's actually pronounced almost exactly like the more common name, 'Jason'. Some people even go so far as to spell it that way.

I have to admit, I was kind of hoping that you'd squeeze out the little guy/girl today so that we'd share a birthday.

Maybe if I...

I doubt this but the only option that leaves, in that case, is it's a boy. The surprise is not that I got Jan pregnant or that she's a surrogate for my spawn.
