Oh Jebus. I only deleted my break-up posts after the horrid fallout in that thread. But not before saving them all. Alas, I can't be bothered to repost them, as I haven't got that kind of time.

I'm glad you're willing to look past it and still consider me a potential sexual partner, though. You're already so good at knowing when my face is warning you to stop checking out my considerably awesome rack.

I briefly considered removing them from the list of people I would bump uglies with, but ultimately decided that was too harsh a punishment.
Right, displeased, whatever. What I want to know is, which list -the females you will sleep with versus the ones you won't- is more exclusive? Whichever it is, I want to be on that one; I'm guessing it's the latter.

Also, in the interest of randomness, I have a question for anyone who cares to answer: How do you pronounce the word "aunt"? Similar to "ant" or the other way?

As for myself, I say it like "ant" because the other way seems very...proper or snooty.

It actually depends on which family, paternal or maternal, I am with. My father's family all prefer "aunt," either because they believe it is more proper or because that's just how they've always pronounced it (I've never been able to figure it out), while my mother's family all go by "ant."

None of my relatives are six-legged insects. I pronounce it like "awnt."

Actually, that's in part a regional thing. Much more common in ND. It's just how I was raised. My whole family pronounces it that way. "Ant" seems disrespectful, somehow.

Having been transplanted to the south in my tender youth, I have had enough people tease me and tell me how weird it is that I pronounce it that way to last a lifetime. It's actually a bit of a sore spot.

Yes. I used to get it a lot but not so much anymore. I think because I would get it when I would take naps and I don't really nap much now. I would feel totally conscious and sometimes be able to open my eyes and see my surroundings but not be able to move or talk. The scariest thing was trying to yell or scream and not being able to.

Those are my favorite parts also. I always love watching Yo-Yo Ma perform, he just gets so into it you can't help but enjoy yourself!

Also, their first dance was just cute. They're so cute.

I've seen Yoyo Ma in person, he is amazing. It's like he and the cello are a single entity. :)

I love Michelle's body language in that clip, the way she holds Barack as they dance, you can tell they're really in love with each other, so completely different from the stiff formality of the Clintons or the Bushs. :-P

Yea it happened to me last night when I was trying to get to sleep, then I had multiple bouts of it during a nap I had after I posted that. I only realised it wasn't a messed up recurring dream recently. Knowing what it is makes it only slightly less disturbing.

I just re-watched "Stranger Than Fiction" yesterday for the first time since seeing it in theaters and thoroughly enjoyed (again) the scene where Harold gives Ana flours -as opposed to flowers- because she's a baker. All sorts of sweet/thoughtful.

That reminded me of "The Wedding Singer" and the fact that Robbie wrote a song for Julia, because that's what he's good at.

Then there's one of the Three Panel Soul (comic) guys, Ian, who I'm pretty sure made a video game as a means of proposing to his then girlfriend, now wife.

Boys need to do more personal things, that are unique to them and their talents and stop with the impersonal candy/cards/flowers/other purchased gifts. Really, it's the thought that counts. Unless they just suck at everything, then the candy/cards/flowers/other purchased gifts are better than nothing.

This randomness brought to you by the fact that I have been reminded by Hatrack that the perpetually disappointing day also known as Valentine's Day is in less than a month. Maybe it'll do someone else some good.

ah valentines day, upon which a very special girl who lives 3500 miles away will attempt to get something (likely moroccan cookies) in the mail to me, and I reflect on how little I can afford another trip to the west coast any time soon.

On another slightly randomish note, Fanboys is due out rather soon

This is one of my favorite movies. I'm glad you brought it up so I can dote on it. Will Ferrell is so sweet in it, and Emma Thompson so amazingly depressing/awesome, and Dustin Hoffman so relaxed and wise, and Maggie Gyllenhaal so likable despite acting like a bitch for the first half, and Queen Latifah actually being likable in a film, period. It's amazing, plus has an amazing story.

I have the movie poster. I get compliments often.

Some people ask the question with a cake or a ring. Possibly even a webcomic, power armor or a pile of corpses... Me, I asked with a pixel side-scrolling video game.

As Dom has told me, the way you ask should be true to who you are. Me, I make video games. Hell, I get paid to do it supposedly. So when I asked Jes to marry me, I had spent the last year secretly making a little 8bit game for her. An hour here, an hour there, I slowly put it together in cover of night. It worked out great. Well... it would have been better had the final boss not glitched and got stuck in a wall. ( -_-)

Have you not seen Hairspray? I know, I know, it's a musical and a lot of people hate them...but I thought she was likable in that. I mostly agree with you about the others.

ETA: back to Stranger Than Fiction here:
I was pleasantly surprised by Will Ferrell in it, and wish he'd maybe try more stuff like that as opposed to his more popular but also more annoying characters.

There was also much excitement on my part because it took place in Chicago.

*nods* It is indeed a decent movie. :)

I saw lots of previews for Hairspray and I didn't feel that intrigued, but since then I've heard nothing but good things about it....is it worth seeing?

That, obviously, depends on your tastes. I mostly like musicals, so it was a no brainer for me to give it a try. (Also, I'm a little ashamed to say, I fangirled a little over Zac Efron in the previews I saw before the movie actually came out and before I knew he was the HSM kid.)

I know a few people who like the John Waters' Hairspray better, but I've yet to meet anyone who has seen the new one who hasn't liked it period. Catchy soundtrack- especially You Can't Stop the Beat- good but not too heavy-handed in terms of the plot (segregation, racism in Baltimore), good actors (and c'mon, John Travolta in drag? Not distracting and very well done), good dancing...yeah, I recommend it if you're willing to give it a shot.

Stranger than Fiction is one of my favorite recent movies, one I need to rewatch. :)

Hairspray is excellent, and yes, Queen Latifah is fantastic in the film. It was a good date movie too when I saw it in theatres. :)

I know there's a sickness thread, but for the life me of me I can't find it.

It started about 1:00am and I haven't stopped throwing up about once every hour since. It's now 4:00am. Before this I haven't thrown up in years.

I feel like i'm dying.

His only positive quality is that he played Young Simon in Firefly.

One day while flipping channels, I stumbled on a movie, Miracle Run. It wasn't the best movie in the world, but Zac Efron had a great performance as an autistic kid. Really, he did an excellent job. The kid can act.

*Anxious Question*

I'm reading everywhere about Kirsten Gillibrand, but I have not been listening to the news so I have not heard anyone yet pronounce her name. Curse-ten, Kyer-sten, or Keer-sten? Or are they just guessing and we're hearing multiple pronunciations (like they do with Kirsten Dunst)?

*crosses fingers*

If she's a Curse-ten and they're pronouncing it as such, I will be so happy.

I think Kyer-sten is usually spelled Kiersten, so she's either a Keer-sten or a Curse-sten

No, Kirsten is fairly often pronounced "Kyer-sten." Unfortunately for me (Curse-ten).

Kirsten Gillibrand is from my area and I'm pretty sure I've mostly heard it as Keer-sten. But on a somewhat related note, this commercial always reminds me of you Kirsten...I *think* it's pronounced correctly (like you do) AND the accent is like Wisconsin or North Dakota or something:
