I hear ya, Alea. I finally found a pair of tall black dress boots that actually fit my scrawny calves at DSW but they are also $80 and I just can't justify spending it. I couldn't find them any cheaper online either. Grr!

I had a dream about those boots, as in, I saw a pair of the exact ones I wanted but all in the wrong sizes, so I had to go to about a million other stores trying to find them and never did. Both the multiple stops and the inability to find them pissed me off greatly.
My brain is seriously weird.

Wanted: This shower curtain from Target. I don't want to pay $30 for it but I want it all the same.

I finally picked up the first one, as it was a whopping $8 on Steam the other day. Which reminds me, Mr. Mich: Have you with your Double Fine related avatar played Brütal Legend? I found it quite amusing, but I don't know it was worth quite that long of a wait, let alone the $60 I paid for it.Left 4 Dead 2. All of my friends can afford it but me.
Harumph.

Alas, I have not played it, owning only a Wii and a DS to my name. I've heard... middling reviews, but I do, indeed, wish to partake of that game. It just requires an addition $200+ that I also do not have.I finally picked up the first one, as it was a whopping $8 on Steam the other day. I'm kind of dismayed that the ibookstore is only available to the American market as of yet. I'm very curious to see how this will affect the publishing industry. Personally, I really hope that someone cottons on to the idea of publishing rare and out of print books as e-books.

Project Gutenberg has 25000+ out of copyright books as ebooks. I haven;t heard of any other efforts though.I'm kind of dismayed that the ibookstore is only available to the American market as of yet. Yeah, I'm familiar with them. I'm more thinking not just out of copyright, but out of print. There's a world of books that are long out of copyright but still solidly in print, or easily found. But there are books like Susan Kay's Phantom which I know people hunted for for years to find until they brought it back into print relatively recently.
Especially when you get to certain academic texts it gets more difficult. A couple years ago I had the opportunity to speak to a representative from Brill about a particular book I was hunting high and low for a copy to buy, and they basically told me they were never going to print it again, good luck.

The only problem I can see is that it isn't quite laptop-y enough to be used as one - no word processing etc. Otherwise, I would get one as a cheap, small, awesome laptop as opposed to an almost-laptop with glittery awesomeness

That was actually something I was looking at, as well. In that great and glorious future where I have money (HA!), I'd love to have something small like that which I could tote around and use for writing at the library, etc., and have my main desktop at home. I figure they've still got some time to fix that oversight for me before I actually try to get one such device

Yeah one of my bffs is promoting purchasing an iPad and an iMac, because it still is the same cost as a 15 inch Macbook pro or something. I would rather than a Macbook pro. I mean, the iPad doesn't have flash or wordprocessing and that makes it void in my world.
I want...plane tickets to California, and yeah, a week off. A new computer. Not having to take a Chinese test in the next 6 hours. A boyfriend.

I want the HP Slate, which is basically an iPad except it runs Windows 7 and doesn't suck. Then I want them to take that HP Slate, toss in the Pixel Qi LCD that can essentially be both a color LCD and an e-ink screen. Then I want them to make the capacitive touch screen pressure sensitive. This is a useful tablet.

This actually still puzzles me a bit (sans wacoms being the only tablets). I knew a few people in college that had tablets that were programmers, and were not artists; what do you use a tablet for?I'm actually kind of surprised that they're calling these "tablets", mostly because for years the only thing I understood to be a tablet was a wacom tablet, and was an art tool, not a computer in itself.
For most of the people I'm thinking of, it could probably just be answered that they had more money than sense, but still...
