I got a new kitten on Saturday. It's my first non-reptile in 10 years. Her name is Monkey (because my husband has always wanted a monkey), she's 10 weeks old, came from a shelter, had her first vet visit today and is sleeping and purring on my lap right now!

Mark and I both grew up with cats so it feels right. Since we've been married we have lived places that didn't allow cats until now. Plus, I developed a cat allergy as a teenager but I got allergy shots for a few years and it has been reduced to a minimal amount now. Mark really, really wanted a cat. So, now I have my baby (Pheeny) and he has his (Monkey).

Haha, that's awesome.
It's common for us to walk into our kitchen and find up to three of our cats laying like that...

And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears.

I had caught frogs (and maybe toads) when I was younger but the house we moved into last year is very close to a creek which must be the breeding ground for LOTS of American Toads. Last year my husband found tons of baby toads in our yard all summer long but only one big adult. The one above is the first one that he found this year.
I'm sure I found all kinds of critters when I was younger but it's only in the last couple of years that I have gotten really interested in nature and using the internet to identify the plants, animals, insects, etc. that I find outside!

Awww, Kimmie, new kitty is sweet. Looks kind of like my Tara in body size and stripiness, except the eyes are less sea-green than hers. Your cat's eyes are more an olive green. She's got some of that tangerine in her fur like Tara does, though, which is neat.
I LOVE tabbies.
