LURKERS!! Come out, come out, wherever you are...
We are not alone...
Chances are there are people who visit pweb, maybe even on a regular basis, who do not post in the forums and are not even members. But I want to know if there's really anyone out there. I want to know who's really reading these words that I type and present to the whole world.
Secret visitors, I implore you; if you are reading these words and you are not currently a member, sign up (it's free and it only takes a few minutes) and answer my call in this thread. In fact, even it you're already a member but have been an inactive lurker as of late, post in this thread. Step out of the shadows. We mean you no harm. Even I was once as you are now.
Lurkers...
I await your response.

Seriously, guys. Listen to this and obey. Pweb has been way to slow lately. It's driving me crazy. The slowness has caused me to post for the 3rd time, and as you can see by my post count, I'm not one to do that very often. Save me from having to come up with anything interesting to say!

not a lurker, just got extraordinarily busy of late. not to mention now that i'm no longer employed at EDS, i don't get to sit on the computer all day every day with nothing better to do than to come on pweb. heck, my new job doesn't even use computers! i'm now doing electronic assembly (circuit boards, soldering... that stuff.) made supervisor a couple weeks ago. pretty sweet really, cuz i've only been there a few months.
so yeah, sorry i haven't been posting as much lately. i'll try to fix that when i can. the wedding, school (last class WOO!) and the band. and recently my car... all keeping me from spending any real time online. school will be over and done with completely next week. THANK GOD! and the wedding stuff will taper off on my end soonly. so yeah, catch ya'll when i can!

My Story.....for what it's worth.
I wasn't going to post in this forum any more, but after reading this thread, I thought I might post one more message.
I occasionally visit this forum, but after I was chastized for my posting habits and, to me, generally cool to and perhaps unfriendly responses to posts I have made, I have found this to be an unwelcoming forum. I know that this does not reflect on the community as a whole, and in fact is limited to just a few personalities. But so far, I have been left with a negative experience for being here.
There are probably those of you out there who will think, "Well good....we don't want you here anyway," and you would be exactly who I am referring to. There are other forums I regularly post to that seem much more receptive and welcoming than this one.
Perhaps in a year or so I might make another attempt here, but then again...who knows.

i'm sorry. i didn't realize people were making you feel unwelcome. we are admittedly a tightly-woven bunch, and it often takes newcomers a bit to break into the circle, but it's not meant to be exclusive or unwelcoming. generally it just takes us a while to get to know people. and we certainly snip at each other as much as we do at newbies. we're also going through a pretty rough dry spell at the moment, and when activity is down, it somehow makes it easier for everyone on the welcome wagon to get a bit lethargic. i'm sorry if the experience has been unpleasant, and i wish i could coax you to stay around for a bit.
you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

Re: Mimx:
Hey, it's the gemstone guy! I wondered what happened to you. Assuming you're talking about the gemstone threads regarding the negativity, well, honestly, you didn't seem all that upset, really. There are those who might have tried to make you feel more welcome had we known you really felt that way.
But quite frankly, if you felt unwelcome by that... well... things could have been much worse if you were on a different section of the board, or different people were around. I don't really think of this place as unfriendly, but things can get rather harsh pretty quickly sometimes if you're not used to it.

I haven't posted in a little under 2 months.
But that's because I'm in Africa! I do periodically check in on my favorite threads (Bob, DY, Confessions, My life in a literary agency) when I have an internet connection.
I will be back to my normal activity sometime after July 21st (the day I hit the ground in the states. Can't wait. Seriously, you have no idea.)

Lurker reporting for duty.
You guys may remember me as Alai1 (a LONG time ago, before the Great Crash of Pweb 1.0). When the second incarnation of Pweb appeared, I changed my name to Hawkblaze. Then for a while I stopped posting anything, and when I checked again, we had yet another new board.
In the previous incarnation of the Pweb forum, I remember having a vicious flamewar with...oh jeez what was his name...it was *something*_2 about such varied topics as radical Islam, the Supreme Court, and the 2006 midterm elections. It was a sight to behold for a few weeks.
With Harry Potter 7 coming out next week, I'm coming here to opine after I finish it. So you'll have to put up with me until then
Best,
Tim

Yeah, what she said. Except not in Africa, and I won't be back till the beginning of August. I'm sort of semi-around when I can find internet though.I haven't posted in a little under 2 months.
