More Police Brutality

Postby Oliver Dale » Wed Nov 22, 2006 8:49 am

I wonder if re-creating this thread is going to be one of those things I come to regret later.

At any rate, more people are claiming brutality:

Meh, depending on how they "knocked and announced", it doesn't seem like they did anything particularly wrong. It's just a Sad Story because of the woman's age.

Funny thing is that I just sent this article to someone else.

I am not sure if the warrant was mistaken or not, but it seems to me that the cops did what was right. They knocked on the door, got no answer and then entered the premises. What the hell are they supposed to do when you have a warrant to search for drugs?

Once they went in, she started shooting. Well... what do you want them to do? Get shot a few times and say, "please stop shooting at us, it is very rude and not lady-like"? Naturally they shoot back. That is the only reasonable response when a cop is being shot at.

As long as, to the cops' knowledge, the warrant was valid--what the hell else could they have done?

"Excuse, ma'am, can you please stop shooting at us? Ho, we're just gonna mill around here 'til you kill us. And, if you run out of bullets before seeing reason, well, you can borrow our guns!"

I also sorta disagree with Jebus about her age making it worse. I think it actually makes it better. Realistically, how much longer could she have lived? She has lived a long life already, more so than most can expect to. I think it is more tragic when it is a 20 year old whose life has barely begun.

I don't think anyone would even be talking about this if the "victim" wasn't a geriatric. I don't think of this as "brutality." While we don't know all the facts, especially concerning the validity of the warrant, the location it was to be served, and the "victim"'s actual criminal actions that brought about the warrant, on the surface the issue seems plain.

What was a 92 year old woman doing with a loaded gun, ready and able to shoot at people? Don't they just usually have a heart attack when they get "startled"? While her bravado is certainly interesting, it doesn't support the family's claim that she was a law abiding citizen who meant no one any harm.

This is actually one the situations a taser might have proven its use. But I can't knock the cops in this one for the use of deadly force. You have to protect yourself, at the very least. And seeing as she was a pretty good shot, to hit 3 cops before they even got a shot off, it seems justified.

Uhm. No. Just because you're old doesn't mean your heart's in trouble.

One question I would like to ask the complaining neice in the video is... Did you buy your aunt a license for using that gun as well? If not then she doesn't have much of a case to begin with. And that 92 year old was such a law abiding citizen that she hid narcotics in her house. Poor innocent granny. Shot to death for ACCIDENTLY shooting 3 officers. There are mistakes, and then there are accidents, and mistakes are accidents and accidents are mistakes.
"I knew you were searching for him. I didn't want to interfere until you found him. Just in case you think you were really smart, young man, we intercepted four street thugs and two known sex offenders who were after you."

Yet more police brutality

The police fire a total of 50 shots - and only 20 actually hit the car, let alone the suspect. My question is not just what the hell these cops were thinking, but who trained these guys to shoot? A chimp?

20 outta 50 hit? I feel alot safer now, in case I'm actually being shot at.
The Makeout Hobo is real, and does indeed travel around the country in his van and make out with ladies... If you meet him, it is customary to greet him with a shot of whiskey and a high five (if you are a dude) or passionate makeouts (if you are a lady).

yep. you're safer if you're the person they're trying to shoot than if you're an innocent bystander.

I am a fire starter. I believe none of what I say. I just say it to start trouble.

I got you to respond to me didn't I?

I would say I am doing what I came here to do. Make people who think they are smarter than me respond to my purposely stupid remarks.

Hope you are having fun.

Well, I can certainly understand the motivation.

As a fellow "fire starter" I would add that it helps if your s***-stirring comments also have some veiled point you're trying to make, it adds some value beyond being a tool.

Personally I prefer just being a tool.

If there was some kind of genius in my remarks people might actually read them and not get annoyed that I am here to begin with.

Not exactly it because you are forgetting I am just reading what you are writing. You do not matter to me and neither does anyone I haven't talked to before.

Other people matter to me. You paticularly don't.

I care what those people think, but since I only know of your exsistance because your fighting with me on a forum I don't see why I should care about what you think.

I'm confused, why try to annoy people if you don't care what they think? If you're truely so apathetic about all these people you've never talked to, what the fook are you doing here?
