I liked River and Eleven.
I LOVE Clara and Eleven.
And set your mind to it:
There will ALWAYS be Daleks.
Always.

Re: Doctor Who (yarr, there be spoilers here!)
I saw it and i'm excited!
I'm catching up. I'm literally watching the episode where he meets Clara for the second time right now. Only 7 episodes left until i'm caught up!
Haha, Amy making a joke in the last episode how they'll have to find him a baby sitter, and Clara is a Governess.
Is anyone else going to see the 50th in theaters?

I'm not seeing it in theaters because for some reason they are only playing it in theaters here on Monday, two days after the premiere. It seems silly to pay to see it two days later when I can see it for free on Saturday.

There is only one theater around here showing it the day of, and the rest are showing it two days later. Luckily, the one showing it the day of is only an hour and a half drive, so we're going!

So what did everybody think, by the way? I'm pretty sure I loved it. We're seeing it in 3D on Monday to help us digest it all.

The Daleks shooting each other thing was dumb, but otherwise no complaints.

Re: Doctor Who (yarr, there be spoilers here!)
I loved it! I honestly had a great time seeing it in theaters. The audience was really into it and it was fun being able to cheer and react with everyone. I've been in plenty of theaters with a happy audience, so it was pretty weird when "I don't want to go" happened again and you could hear almost everyone "aww" at the same time. Lots of cheering, laughing, screaming, crying, and just general fun. The 3D took me a little while to get used to, but it was pretty awesome.
I'm going to have to watch it again on tv to really process it, but right now I thought it was amazing!
Oh and seeing ALL the Doctors working together was exactly what I wanted! So, so cool.

Re: Doctor Who (yarr, there be spoilers here!)
I was excited for the 50th of course, but after seeing it I feel like I have embraced it much more. Before seeing it I was under the impression that it was going to the episode where we see that sometimes you have to do the hard thing because its the only way. What we got instead was an episode that showed even when you have to choose between bad and worse there's always a third way, that you should never give up. Which is what I love about doctor who. So instead of seeing something that I had accepted but never really wanted to see happen, I saw what I think we all hoped at some level. That the doctor has been, and always will be, a doctor. Even when he didn't know it himself.

I loved it. More than I thought I would, which is saying a lot. I absolutely adored seeing ten and eleven together. My husband said they should do a buddy comedy movie.

Re: Doctor Who (yarr, there be spoilers here!)
Pretty much hit it on the head. Some part of me really, really wanted to see that "you have to make the hard choice" moment, because it's, well, more realistic. But then the third option was found and that's really more in tune with the purpose of the show, isn't it? And I ended up loving how that third option came together. Before seeing it I was under the impression that it was going to the episode where we see that sometimes you have to do the hard thing because its the only way. What we got instead was an episode that showed even when you have to choose between bad and worse there's always a third way, that you should never give up. Which is what I love about doctor who.
Although, as Elf pointed out, the "Daleks all shot each other and died" bit was kind of silly and glossed over. I would have preferred something about their weapons firing setting off a chain reaction or whatever, but I can buy it either way.

Saw it Monday, in 3D, with a bunch of Whovians--in one of at least two fully packed theaters!
Wonderful! Corny as hell--as expected. As I mentioned to a friend, "They solve about 80% of the problems they set up, and figure that's close enough for an episode...let's move on!"

Late responding, but I also saw it in a theatre in the company of other Whovians. So much fun! I loved it. And I do need to watch it again.

Are we all watching Season 8 of Doctor Who?
I wasn't greatly impressed with the first two episodes of the season, but I really enjoyed episode three, Robots of Sherwood.

Re: Doctor Who (yarr, there be spoilers here!)
So I feel like somewhere on this forum I need to post an apology because I found a message from 13 year old me stating "I don't know much about Doctor Who" and MAN did I have some educational gaps... I would like to defend my honor by saying that I have now seen every episode, role-played as Clara with my friend as the doctor and her friend as the TARDIS, and have seen Torchwood to boot.
Perhaps some longer commentary in this thread to come... although I'm not a huge Steven Moffat fan so...

Wow, first post in this thread in two years!
Moffat will be leaving as showrunner after the next series, so we'll get to see what Chris Chibnall (who did Broadchurch) will do with the show.
During the hiatus from the show, I've been getting my Doctor Who fix listening to Big Finish audio dramas. They're pretty great.

Totally! The Big Finish stuff is awesome... and yeah, I can't wait to see what Chris Chibnal comes up with...
