It is raining and cold; the tip of my nose is chilly to the touch and since I'm wearing neither slippers nor socks, so are my toes.
I am so, so happy, tucked under my comforter in bed.

I am genuinely 10 times more frightened at the idea of snow this year than I was coming here in February. On the flip side, I'm about 10 times more excited, too.

I am more scared of snow this year as well, since I now have a job that I have to go to no matter the weather (sometimes at 5:30am).

It rained really hard all last night, and then I woke up to sunshine. I know i'll be tired of the rain in probably less then a month, but right now it's pretty welcome : )

The rain and wind combined to take out my umbrella for good. It was already limping along as best as it could and it finally died after a serious battle against the elements.
It rained most of today, it rained most of yesterday, and is supposed to rain most of tomorrow.
When am I supposed to go to the store, Weather?! It's difficult to drag even a little bit of groceries around while trying to stay dry.

It is rainy again today. I'm really confused by this whole days of raining thing. Why and how does the water keep falling after 10 minutes, for days on end?

Yay, Fred!
And...how can you not notice rain for a month? I don't have SAD, I don't think, but I do get decidedly unhappier the longer I have to go without sunlight and besides, my pants get soaked every time it rains around here.

Re: How about that weather, then, eh?
I think one's rain-awareness level increases with the amount of time one spends in the rain. And with how heavy the rain is. It rained significantly less frequently in Minnesota than it does back home, but it always came with a vengeance. A month of that rain would definitely be noticeable. The continuous drizzle that is Alaskan summers? That doesn't hit you until you realize you've been wearing a jacket they entire month of July and can't even remember what a blue sky looks like anymore.

Re: How about that weather, then, eh?
I love the rain. It makes me feel happy.
I'm not sure how it would affect me to live somewhere that had days on end of rain, though. Colorado averages around 300 days a year with sunshine. A lot of those days do have clouds or rain, but Colorado rain typically rolls in for an hour in the afternoon and the rest of the day is spent in full sunshine. We only have a few days a year where it is cloudy all day long and it's REALLY rare for 2 of those days in a row.
Vit d is a great suggestion, Adam!

Re: How about that weather, then, eh?
To me, fall and winter around here are just one big rainy day. You stop counting the days and start counting the rainy weeks. I feel like it's rare to have more then a day without rain. It's almost comforting to me though, but that might be because I haven't really known anything else. Our summer lasted clear into October this year, which was beyond crazy!Yay, Fred!

Wet pant legs are one of my BIGGEST pet peeves. I guess that's why when I get home I change into some lounging pants and let my other pants dry.

Btw, is it windy? because if it is windy and that's how your trousers get wet, i can suggest getting a really large umbrella. I had one i had bought in the UK (which was crazy, 3 months rain, then snow, then other 3 months rain XD), and it was awesome. When it was windy and i had to point it to the sides instead of upwards, i felt like a Spartan with a shield. There are only 3 things that are more awesome than that, and 2 of them involve ponies.

Re: How about that weather, then, eh?
I'm guessing Chicago is windy, since the one thing I know about it is that it's called "The Windy City"
It's windy and rainy here, and it's a joke that umbrellas are for tourists - much too windy. I find a decent pair of rubber boots (Bogs!!) and a waterproof (gore-tex) coat with a hood are what helps.
ETA: And I totally agree with Adam about Vit. D. It's so helpful in a cloudy/rainy climate.

Re: How about that weather, then, eh?
It is windier in the city, where the buildings act like wind tunnels but it does get windy out in the 'burbs. But that's not why my pants get wet. They get wet because puddles form basically everywhere and I can't avoid stepping in them; my pants start absorbing the water and it gradually spreads up, sometimes getting as high as my knee but usually mid-calf.
I recently figured out rain boots would go a long way in helping with this but haven't acted on this new discovery of mine. Sooner or later I'll get tired of having wet legs.
And yeah...360 days of sun, on average, in my hometown. I don't mind the rain and on the one hand, still get excited by it but that doesn't change that I also notice a decrease in feeling okay overall the longer it lasts.

Anyone who's met a Chicago politician!Who knew!
Seriously, though: the city has a pretty strong wind (though it's much calmer in the summer months). Like Alea said, that probably has a lot to do with the urban wind tunnels (and the fact that most of the major roads seem to run east-west).
