I was just coming to post this. I should have known someone would beat me to it.

Re: ENDER'S GAME Movie Release Date
IMDB has had the release scheduled for 2013 forever. Its good to hear that they're shooting for an early release (March) instead of a holiday one (December). I can't wait until IMDB changes it from "pre-production" to "in production" so I can stalk its progress.

Re: ENDER'S GAME Movie Release Date
Yeah...I haven't been paying much attention because of the development hell problems, but I saw this today. Good to see that something is happening with this...though I'm naturally nervous about a possible mishandling of it.
Given the choice, I'm not sure which I'd prefer from a "make this successful" point of view...it's kind of hard to be impatient after this long, oddly enough.

I'll believe it when I see a trailer. Been let down so many times...

Same here! A real trailer (not a teaser) is the least I can get excited about.

Re: ENDER'S GAME Movie Release Date
There is a bunch of interesting stuff on this page which I hadn't seen elsewhere: http://www.endersansible.com/p/movie-info.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Some make me excited, others make me nervous. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it turns out.
[edit]
As with this: http://www.endersansible.com/2011/10/or ... nders.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I'm bummed we'll be missing out on seeing what the Fantasy Game could have been on screen. On the other hand, I'm excited/reassured that OSC appears to share my opinion of Peter Jackson's LOTR adaptation, which bolsters my hopes for the Ender's Game adaption.
[edit 2]
And what do you all think of Christine Bieselin Clark being responsible for costume design, ergo, the flash-suits?

Re: ENDER'S GAME Movie Release Date
I trust the release date, although I'm disappointed. March is not the time of year that awesome movies come out. If the studio had any faith/money in this, they'd push it back to May. Or ideally, around the holiday/oscar season.

Re: ENDER'S GAME Movie Release Date
Personally, I do NOT trust the release date.
Even though OSC has said that the film will be PEOPLE (as opposed to TECHNOLOGY and EFFECTS) heavy, there will still need to be a lot of effects in it, since the backgrounds do not exist anywhere in the real world.
Plus, given that the principal shooting has not started, and that some of the young actors are saying that they have not yet "even begun training," and there are rumors on the Web that "filming will begin February 2012"...that leaves 13 months to shoot the LIVE scenes (including some crazy stuff for the Battle Room, of course) and put together all the effects.
Considering the effects-heavy film "Pirates of the Caribbean" (which also spends a lot of time with its characters)
"Filming took place from October 2002 to March 2003 in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and on sets constructed around Los Angeles, California.
The world premiere was held at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, on June 28, 2003"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirates_of ... lack_Pearl" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
That's 8 months from filming to release. Effects running at the same time, though with an aready-well-established ILM. Digital Domain will be starting up a division in Australia to handle the film effects for EG. Add one month.
OK...so maybe it IS possible!!!!
Either way...it's not going to be any good unless they call me about it!

(I think OSC wrote dialogue for those video games!!!)Influence of the Monkey Island series of games
Although it has never been officially confirmed, there is strong evidence to suggest that the series was influenced by, and perhaps loosely based upon, the Monkey Island series of video games. Ted Elliott was allegedly the writer of a Steven Spielberg-produced animated film adaptation of The Curse of Monkey Island, which was cancelled before its official announcement, three years prior to the release of The Curse of the Black Pearl.[12] This film was allegedly in production at Industrial Light and Magic before being cancelled.
Ron Gilbert, the creator of the Monkey Island series, has jokingly expressed a bitterness towards the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise for its similarities to his game.[13] Gilbert has also stated that On Stranger Tides, a novel by Tim Powers which was adapted into the fourth film, was the principal source of inspiration for his video games.[14]

Re: ENDER'S GAME Movie Release Date
If my memory, non-cited as it is, recalls correctly, he wrote dialogue for one scene in one of the games, namely the famous "insult sword-fighting" minigame, in which the player character trades comebacks with the attacker. It lead up to one of the most famous insults in all of video game history:(I think OSC wrote dialogue for those video games!!!)
