I can't believe it. I mean, haven't we always, always said Ben Kingsley?
IS GAVIN HOOD ONE OF US?
My vote is Taalcon. His whole "please let me work on this movie" is a smokescreen.

Nah, Steve's the beggar. I gave up ambitions on working on the movie like 8 years ago. What I want is for the community to get involved and recognized in the Behind the Scenes/promotional aspect of it.

A couple of things: it says he's taken the role but it also says that he's in talks for the role. Also saw that for petra.... Putting the cart before the horse a bit I think.

I'm an 8th grade English teacher and I'm envious of my students that they do not have to wait decades for a movie version.
I think Wil Wheaton would make a great Dap.
I've been posting on Ender's Ansible for a while now, but I'll add this here (I'm sure it's been discussed, I haven't explored thoroughly yet). Tommy Lee Jones for Graff.

Re: Mazer
Welcome to Pweb, AviLocke. When was it that you first read EG? I read it at 14, so I've only had to wait 14 years (so far) for a movie but you know what? For all the disappointment over the years as they attached names and scripts to the project, only to watch it fail miserably, I'm kind of glad I've had all this time with the Enderverse without the image I created being tarnished.
I'm not sure how I feel about Wil Wheaton or Tommy Lee Jones being in the movie but I'm also not sure I want it to be all "big" names; I'd be fine with unknowns, so long as the chemistry amongst all the actors is right.

Se paciente y duro; algún día este dolor te será útil.
Re: Mazer
I actually agree about the previous scripts and waiting until everything is right. I was nervous about Gavin Hood, but Roberto Orci makes me hopeful.
I first read EG in 1997 as a required summer novel for 9th grade and I remember reading it three times that Summer instead of reading the other two books I was supposed to. I have since read it well over thirty times and when I teach the novel I actually read it five times simultaneously. I pick up on little things here and there with each read (reader response theory). I have also read most of the Enderverse multiple times.

Re: Mazer
I hadn't heard this confirmed previously but evidently somewhere within this hour long podcast, Kingsley confirms his involvement with Ender's Game. http://podcastdownload.npr.org/anon.npr ... 188574.mp3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Haven't listened to it myself yet, but my writing professor from last semester mentioned she'd heard it while we were talking about the movie. I'll listen to it later and see if that indeed seems to be the case.
[edit]
Skip ahead to 43:30, right before the end.

Re: Mazer
Nice find! I listened to a lot of it, just because he's such an interesting guy, and that sounds like a pretty positive signal.

Re: Mazer
Looks like it MAY be official:
http://www.thewrap.com/movies/column-po ... kham-34945" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
They also note the Fly Molo casting... however, while they note that 'producers said on Tuesday', I'm not seeing any other press releases yet. Not sure if their source was through a call, or if they are just trumping up the IMDB material. I'll keep looking.
