Brayden HONESTLY believes that if he adds a rolled R to every syllable he says that he's speaking Spanish. It's the funniest thing! Brian and I just die laughing every time he does it.

Re: Pweb Kids
At a restaurant:
Anne (21 months): (points at steaming Mongolian grill): "Hot!"
Me: "That's right Anne. It's hot. Like fire."
Anne: (After a moment, points at Mommy.) "Mommy's Hot!"
Daddy: "Yeah, she is!"
Mommy: "Anne, Did Daddy teach you that?"
Anne: "Yes."
Daddy: (gives thumbs up to Anne)
Also, she now counts all the way up to 14, and always follows up any iteration of counting with the "Ah-Ah-Ahhhh!" laugh from Sesame Street's The Count.
Can't make this stuff up.

Pwebbers have the funniest kids!
Nom wasn't particularly funny today, but today is the first time she's tried to play with her playmat instead of staring at it in perplexity and then squeaking to be picked up.

I can't roll my r's, so I guess I can't speak spanish. Well, I can do a faux-roll thing with my throat but not the proper rolling thing.
Also, The Count was always my favorite on Sesame Street, which isn't surprising since I love math.

My nephew met Santa! (sorry--I have no pictures of the event)
He's a big boy--over 17 pounds at his 4 month checkup. But he might have a deformed head and have to where a helmet thing to make the bone grow right or something. Sadness.
And that is the best Drone Thanksgiving dinner ever. My cousin had the Ewok neighbors visit his Lego house...

Every syllable? Including the ones without an unrolled r? That's got to sound pretty damn interesting :)Brayden HONESTLY believes that if he adds a rolled R to every syllable he says that he's speaking Spanish.

Yep. Every. Single. Syllable. It's SO hilarious. We're working on getting a video of it, but none of my kids like to perform for cameras, so w haven't succeeded yet. I will surely post it here as soon as we are able to capture it.Every syllable? Including the ones without an unrolled r? Re: Pweb Kids
My 22-month old daughter bumps her elbow.
Anne: "OWW!"
Me: "Do you want me to kiss it to make it better?"
Anne: 'No.'
She then bows her head, folds her arms, closes her eyes, and begins to pray.
"Bless the food. Elbow hurts. Amen."
And then runs off.

Dave, I know I'm sounding like a broken record, but do you know just how smart your daughter is? Do you realize how advanced she is for her age? Because she seriously is.

I think Totoro is to me what SW is to a lot of other people around these parts; I've seen it, I enjoyed it well enough, would probably watch it again with others who wanted to, but I'm not in love with it, it's not a thing for me. So I have a hard time mustering up a lot of excitement when people around me are obviously excited by it.

Re: Pweb Kids
Looking for a bit of reassurance from you more experienced parents...
It's been snowy here, but I've got pretty good footing in general, and I'm quite used to snow. I took Nom out in the sling this morning, and slipped on some black ice. I think my knee took the brunt of it, but her head did smack against the pavement. No broken skin, and an hour later she's nursing like a mad beast and the red marks have faded. After the initial shock she sounded angrier than in serious pain, and was distractable by the nice man who came out to help us.
1. She's alright, right?
2. I'm not a horrible mommy, right?
3. I shouldn't let this deter me from using the sling, right?
I know the answers to these questions, but it would help my frazzled nerves if someone else told me so, too.

You are not horrible at all! All of us moms (I know for a fact, steph and I!) have bumped our kids heads. They are often more resilient then we give them credit for! Maggie has climbed and fallen off three things this week and ended up in tears (she's a climber - oh dear lord, why?).

Thanks. They were my treadiest shoes, I just didn't see the tiny patch of ice. I had my hand behind her head, but it flew out to try to stop my fall. Ah well. She has a bit of a goose egg, but otherwise seems her normal self. When I told Rei, he just said he knew one of us was going to have it happen sooner or later. My knee definitely took the brunt, with a big ol' abraded goose egg. I'll take that any day.

Re: Pweb Kids
Today in Sacrament Meeting (the main service part of church), we sang Where Can I Turn For Peace. I've been having Tyler read along as we sing lately. When we were almost through the song, he leaned over to me and whispered in my ear "Mom, I think this song is about anxiety. I think it's a prayer." He really touched my heart as he took this hymn and applied it to his own life. Sometimes, my kids just blow me away. I don't teach them all the kindness and inspiration that comes out of their mouths. I have sure been blessed with amazing children.
