I'm 5'7'' and through out school I was considered tall. I'm the tallest girl in my family (they're all around 5'2''-5'4''ish?

And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears.
And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears.
Get over your hill and see what you find there,
With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair.

I have no problem with my height. I would rather be "average" height than a 6' tall girl. That would be much harder, I think. I'm considered fairly tall in my family, since most of the females are 5'2" or shorter (except for one branch of cousins that are really tall).

I used to hate being short because of all of the teasing. Even if it was playful teasing, it mixed with the mean-spirited stuff and it all became too much. I don't mind it now that I've been out of school for forever and a day, and actually think it's fun to be pocket-sized, on the whole. It has the added bonus of meaning most guys can easily tower over me.

I went to a Coast Guard day picnic today and a random woman called my mother in law a "cute little peanut" and reached out to pinch her cheeks. my mother in law is 4'10" and weighs 85 pounds, and was less then pleased with this.
I have never had much of a problem being short. I just pretend the top shelf in every cabinet doesn't exist, have lots of step stools and three step ladders around, and practiced making eyes at tall boys to reach things for me

What's that? You'll have to speak up; it's a little hard to hear you from way down there.squeek squeek squeek squeekI think all you're demonstrating is that the average girl is short.Jan's 5'4" is actually about average for an adult North American female.

I'm with Kirsten and Helen and the other tall girls. 5'10, here.
Jan, for some reason I always imagined you as being tall. It's messing with my mental image of you to know that you are short! I remain unafraid of you, though.

you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

(By the way, Kelly, something to look forward to with regards to the whole wedding thing -- being 5'10" meant they didn't have to hem my wedding dress, so that was one less expense and hassle, minor as it might've been.)

There's another life out there...
