So hey they have internets at camp sites now! cool beans.
So today we drove through Tennessee, to Kentucky the land of bumpy s***** roads. then on through Illinois and we are camping about an hour outside of St. Louis in Missouri. A little over 500 miles.
The drive went really well, About half way through Cleo decided she was a lap Dog and made my legs fall asleep. But other then that she was less neurotic the she had been for the past week so thats good.
The camp site has a pool, great for cooling off in and showers to get clean in before the drive tomorrow.

Re: Moving...?
So as you know from some of my other posts we are moving again, and I needed a place to get my venting and celebrations out. Then I remembered this thread. So here it goes...
to recap, Chris my wonderful husband got a job in Beaverton OR as a financial analyst at a credit union So we are moving back to the Portland area. The place we have wanted to get back to since we left almost 3 years ago. We are both super excited to get back to where we feel at home. He officially got the job about 2 weeks before his start date of April 2nd and in that time I needed to find us a place to live and car to drive. (our last car was totaled a week before we left TN for WA and we haven't purchased one yet because of lack of cash flow from him being unemployed)
Rant
After much searching I have realized that it it impossible for us to find a place to live. there is nothing anywhere close to out price range available. As of right now we have nowhere to live. Thankfully we have a few friends in the area so Chris is going to sleep on a couch for a month while I keep searching. I think there are some places that will be available in May but I guess I'll just keep looking until I find something. I just don't know when! Its getting so freaking frustrating!!!!
Woo! We have a car!
We finally found a car, chris and his dad have been searching craig's list and the like and every car in our price range was less then desirable, had check engine/air bag/abs lights one or the one good one sold within hours of getting posted before we could get out to see it. They were getting really stressed out Today we drove to try dealerships, the first one we went to was super sketchy and after a quick walk through we got out of there as fast as possible. then we went to a Subaru/VW dealership. the cars were nice but overpriced. But a nice guy names Bill came and helped us. He showed us a bunch of cars and we eventually ended up with a 2002 VW Jetta VR6. They were asking $9,980 and somehow my FiL talked them down to $5,068 out the door. less then the clean trade in! I really don't know how he did is and Bill was awesome going back and getting the price knocked down 3 times.
Its a great little car, big trunk, drives great, good gas milage, and it BLUE which everyone knows I like.
So even though I'm failing on a place to move into at least we have a car for chris to get back and forth in and a couch for him to sleep on until I find a place for us to move.

Re: Moving...?
I've made some progress on the living situation. After many phone calls and emails. I have left close to 20 messages, eliminated a few complexes, and most importantly we are heading down to OR tomorrow to look at a duplex! It sounds nice and the pictures on craig's list are nice as well. Its a 2 bedroom with a one car garage small fenced back yard, and pets are aloud in case (when) i get another dog. Its $25 more then what we budgeted for (we have plenty of cushion and some of out expenses our coming out cheaper) but that should be ok. and the current tenant is moving out this week so it should be ready in early April which is awesome.

Re: Moving...?
We took the condo. The guy that owns it is being really awesome about everything and working with us on paying the deposit over time. Super great guy! So excited, it's our first place together. We're moving in starting Saturday!

Re: Moving...?
YAY! CONDO!
If only my search for living arrangements would work so well... SO we didn't get to look at the duplex today because the current tenant wasn't finished cleaning so he told the landlord it wouldn't work. but hopefully we will get to check it out sometime this week. I also found another duplex for $750 and emailed/called the owner. But is get to keep playing the waiting game

Yay!
you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

Re: Moving...?
So Chris is leaving for Portland tomorrow morning, I'm going with him!... for the day. We are driving down together and have 3 apartments to look at tomorrow. Then one on Monday and Tuesday for Chris to check out after work.
The first one is our favorite. so hopefully I get to call and cancel the rest. But I guess we'll just wait and see. I'm just glad I've finally found a few places to look at.the first and last are in Forest Grove. the town we really want to live in because a) I/we like it and enjoyed living there while going to college b) I'm trying to get a job at the university so my "I don't know how to drive" self could commute on a bike or my own feet and c) Chris is most likely going to get a second job coaching wrestling at the university, so he would have to commute there 5 days a week anyway so might as well live close. The middle three places we are looking at are in Beaverton where chris' bank job is. the are all within .4-.7 of a mile from public transportation the goes right to Forest Grove, incase I get the job.
I'm actually getting hopeful about finding a place for us!
So I'm going to stay the night with Chris after going out to dinner with friends and in the morning when he goes to work I get to catch a train up to Seattle to make it back intime for my surgery on Tuesday

Wow, exciting and I really hope you get the first place! But also, stressful! I'm sorry he won't be there for your surgery. That stinks.

Re: Moving...?
OMG! I think we finally found something! It is really close to the MAX (public transportation) .7 mile walk. there is grocery shopping just down the street. and Many other shops close by in super close walking distance.
Its in Beaverton so it is only 7 Miles from Chris' new job. And an easy Max + bus ride from where I am trying to get a job! (and a 15 min MAX ride from Mich!)
The units are very nice and the grounds are great, nice green, nature trails near by. and there are 2 pools and a small gym too. nice little extras.
There is a really nice 2 bedroom that will be open on the 28th so we can get in soon. (and the money we save not paying rent this month will pay for the $100 in extra rent over the 6 months of the lease)
AND our friends Little Rob and little Jenny are moving into the complex in May so the SHIRE WILL RISE AGAIN!!!!!! (we are all very tiny little hobbits )
I'm going to go fill out the applications and reserve the unit in the morning before I take the train back to Seattle.
I'm super excited!

How in the heck did I miss your last post, Teresa? That is awesome for you and Chris and I'm especially jealous that you'll be living so close to Mich; he was one of the best things about Portland. :)
