The Kid Actors

Postby human. » Sun Jan 07, 2007 4:16 pm

So there is a thread for the adults, and Ender, but what about the other kids?
Like Ender's Jeesh. Even though most who will be suggested will be too old by the time the movie rolls around, who do you think would fit their roles?

Since it's been said that Petra is blonde I was thinking about Annasophia Robb.. She's too old already so I think, but she seems to fit my description of Petra (besides the fact that I think I should be Petra).

Hmm, I wonder who would fit Crazy Tom.

I like Annasophia Robb a lot. Just keep Dakota Fanning OUT OF THIS!!!!

Honestly, I don't think there should be any celebrities. Not that I have anything against celebrities as a general rule, but I think it's a lot more important to get people who fit the role than to search within the small group of child celebrities. Especially considering there are so few, and they will all be too old by then.

The adults are a different story. Celebrity adults could get some good publicity.

I would agree with you Brain, but I understand irrational hatred of Dakota Fanning, so I'm okay with the nerd's motivations.

It is not irrational. It is very well-founded.

Well the thing about child actors is that you also want actors that can, well, act. Many of the child actors that can actually act worth a damn are already fairly well known because they've had good performances in the past. It is alot harder to find talented child actors than adult actors, so the pool of them is neccesarily smaller.

Come on, now that's uncalled for. People are now going to associate lum (or his blog, or whatever) with bad spelling. And nobody wants that.

Another problem is that with the story being centered on children, and running over a six-or-seven year period, they'll need at least two and possibly three children who resemble each other strongly for each child character, unless they want to _film_ over at least five years. Adults can be aged pretty easily with make-up, and more so now with special effects, but children grow and mature between age four and age twelve.
It is better to keep silent and be thought a fool, than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt.

I link to my site because I don't want to explain things twice. I already put thought into doing it once.

When someone else posts a link, you don't pull this kind of s***. But just because my links happen to be to my own website, it's wrong and spam?
I agree. I think just about everybody is dying to tell you something:

First, some people do care. I've got about 50 daily readers, which may not be huge, but it's something.

Second, it's not like I'm trying to recruit visitors! I'm just trying to avoid the hassle of explaining my thoughts twice! Is that so wrong?

What's up with all the hostility towards me!?!

Dmitry Martynov, from the Russian movies "Night Watch" and "Day Watch," impressed me with his take on ruthlessness. I'd like to see him (were he young enough for long enough) try Peter, who is more complex than ruthless.

Best picture I could find.

That looks more like an Achilles to me, and as far as I can guess, Achilles probably won't even be in the movie since the movie is supposed to largely cover Ender, and scarcely Bean.

But that kid is definitly an Achilles.

Also as for Bean, me being a major Bean fan obviously...

Sequoyah Adams-Rice

I think if you cut his hair (right now he has some mushroom dou going on) cut ti reall thin adn short, maybe darken his features, I've seen this kid act, adn by the tiemthe movie comes to fruition, if it does, he should be maybe aroudn the right age.

The kid needs a bit of makeover to fit Bean, but I can see him as Bean.

Then again I can see alot of Beans, Peters, Petras, Alais, Shens, Dinks.

It all just depends where you look.

Gotta love IMDB

Out of curiosity, in what production have you seen him act? I think that he's a phenomenal actor, but so far his exposure is rather limited!

Thanks!

I always thought of Petra with dark hair. I think Annasophia would be great as Valentine.

I like Annasophia Robb a lot.
The first time I read Ender's Game, when I read about Petra, I thought of AnnaSophia Robb as playing Petra. I'd probably have to re-read it, but when you mentioned her as Petra I remembered thinking that. She usually performs outcast roles so well.

Has anyone seen Little Manhattan? I could totally see the lead female, Charlie Ray, as Petra...
Cute movie, btw. :)

the girl who stars in this film would make a killer petra, methinks. :) too bad she's already too old.

She does have a very good face for Petra. I think I'd have to see her moving and hear her voice to completely agree, though. She has to carry herself correctly!

Alex Pettyfer would be a good Dink in my opinion. The only movie I ever saw him in was the film adaptation of the Alex Rider: Stormbreaker book. I know Dink wasn't from England, but whatever.
Rubina Ali, who played the yongest virsion of Latika from Slumdog Millionaire, could play a young Virlomi.

I think that diversity in the Battle School needs to be recognized, so Ender will be American and Petra Armenian/Polish/etc., so that race plays a factor. I don't mean to sound racist, but that's how you make a good movie. I'm sure casting won't be a problem, since there are probably plenty of Japanese and Slavs in the US.
