Kill first, ask forgiveness later

Postby locke » Sat Jan 22, 2011 4:28 am

Is this an acceptable summation of Ender's preemptive strategy against Stilson, Bonzo and the Buggers? Is it unfair and hypercritical, or all the more accurate because it encapsulates the somewhat troubling twist on a Christian tenet and theme within the story of Ender?
So, Lone Star, now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

I think it's more like, 'kill first, so you'll be alive to ask forgiveness later'.

well the military does love the saying "its better to ask for forgiveness than permission." Maybe its an implication that some things never changed?

Also it seems to me like "follow survival instincts and feel bad about it later so you can ask for forgiveness."
-Because you protected this ephemerally floating world by your own hand
Now simply fold your wings and sleep restfully
Be wrapped up in an eternal tranquility, and love through all eternity

Sleep, by this hand of mine that gently watches over you
I remember you laughing, you crying, you angry
I will never forget for all time until my life is exhausted-

Is it fair to say Ender had no choice?
Better off alive and regretful than dead, right?
Ender isn't a murderer- he's trying to survive in a world where everything is pitted against him.
