You have got to be kidding me. I'd have said two weeks, tops.

Also, little Nom is so freaking adorable.

Not even a little bit kidding. I've cried over it more than once.

My stupid kid won't give me kisses, but will chase the dog to kiss and snuggle her at any opportunity. :grumble:

Nom says:
Nin-NAA (Virginia, our dog)
Uff uff (woof woof)
Baba (baby)
Dup (yes)
Dadda
DAAAAT (that)
Grandma*
Grandpa*
Mamma*

Nom signs:
Milkies
Please
More (but more often uses it to mean "I want that")
Food
Drink*
Book*
Thank you*

She's becoming quite the communicative little cuss.

*Intermittent and/or still developing

She's not old enough to be stomping in puddles yet--she was just born! Man, time flies.

Well, since I'm posting/procrastinating, might as well update on Atticus.

Who is fourteen months this week, a full-fledged toddler in every sense of the word. He walks everywhere, now. He is getting into everything, including trouble. Bless him.

He says: mama, dada, doggie (dah-GEE!), water (wah-wah), and today I convinced him to say more (mo!). My fears about language or other delays are pretty well mollified at this point.

He's SO funny. One of our rules is that he is not allowed to bang on the glass front of my aunt's TV stand. "NO, Atticus!" we say. And then take away the toy he's using. He pouts a minute, then, glancing back at us slyly, sneaks his hand up on the glass front of the TV and starts patting it gently, slowly increasing the force to see at what point we're going to intervene again.

Still nursing, though a bit less than before we moved. More right now, since he has a cold and wants it more. Cuddling and nursing him in bed is one of my favorite things in the morning, despite the early hour. I love nursing an older baby/toddler. I did not really enjoy it that much when he was newborn or a young baby. My doctor said she really started to enjoy it at six months, but for me, eight months was when it really became enjoyable/easy/fun/rewarding. I'm going to be sad if I can't do the same for my next baby. But that's way, way down the road.

It's a terrible feeling, turning your back and sarcastically thinking to yourself, of course, this will be the [first] time she falls down the stairs, AND THEN SHE DOES.

Poor Nom. Atty was sincerely concerned for her. His own mother was horrible last night and tried to feed him delicious chicken he always liked before. It was terrible. So, he gets her suffering.

The language fears are back since the last post. He soon quit saying those words. He'll spontaneously repeat a word we use or use a word -- once. Then not again. I'm not overly concerned, though. His receptive language is excellent, and he is jargoning all over the place. He babbles with inflection and gestures and excited gasps! in the middle! of nonsense! sentences. But, really. He mamamamas when he wants me, sometimes, or dadadadas for Donny, but it sounds like babbling and not real words.

Except.

One day, excitedly tugging at my shirt and anticipating nursing:

"Bwee! Bwee! Boo-wee! Boo-bee!"

And that one has stuck for about a week now.

At first I tried redirecting him to "Milkie," but screw it. It's a word, it's a word and he's using it correctly and happily. "Bwee!Bwee! Boo-EE! Boo-BEE!"

And it's really pretty cute.

Tyler is starting 3rd grade in a couple of weeks.

Brayden starts kindergarten.

When the heck did I get that old?

I'm very proud of them, though.

I'm working on planning Jocelyn's Luau. We always do a big luau for the first birthday. Brian has uncles that live in Hawaii and he visited several times growing up. So this was his dream. Planning a party for 100ish people is so daunting! I've already done it 3 times, I don't really want to do it again. But if I don't, Jocelyn will notice in pictures some day and I won't have a good explanation (I was lazy?) and then I'll feel bad. So I'm plowing forward and getting it done. I did postpone it to be one year after her near-death, since her birthday was just 2 weeks after new years.

I'm MUCH more excited for Kinley's birthday coming up. She'll be 4, and I'm inviting her 3 closest friends over for a tea party. (this is much less daunting than a party of 100.) Kinley is SO girly-girl (which is kind of funny, since she's grown up playing with "boy" toys and "boy" movies, etc.) and I'm just gonna roll with that and have fun. Fancy dresses, cream puffs, macarons, petit fours.

Atticus is two today! We're getting him a balance bike. He's going to have a party with his cousins at the local children's museum on Sunday!

Crazy. Crazy, it is. A big two year old.

Looking through this thread makes me wonder one thing; has anyone ever done a study to figure out why pwebbers create such ridiculously adorable babies?! Seriously, something is going on here.

I have dreams about Lizzy's first birthday party. But I worry nobody's going to want to come, so it makes me nervous.
