Mother's Day

Postby fawkes » Thu May 08, 2008 9:59 am

What are you doing for your mother this year?

My folks and I are going to California this weekend for Mother's Day (they don't want to stay home this year). We're going to surprise my Aunt and grandmother on saturday.

For my mother's gift, I made her (with help from Walgreens ~_^) a teddy bear with a photo sweatshirt, the picture is of my sister and me when we were little girls. I'm crying, and Toni has her arm around me. It's one of her favorite pictures. I also made a photo blanket, with a picture of all three of us from our first winter in Colorado.

So, what are your plans this weekend?

That sounds really cool, blue. I bet your mom will love it.

I don't have any plans, since my mom lives in a different city. I'll likely give her a call.

It's kinda crazy this is my last mother's day without being one. Freaky.

we're sending my mom and her best friend to a dolly parton concert as a sort of mother's day, birthday combo gift. she's so excited about, I don't think she's been to a real concert since she was in college and never to an act as big as dolly.

This is a crazy weekend for me, as Friday is our anniversary, Saturday-my birthday, and Sunday-Mother's Day. So, yesterday, my husband dropped me off at the beauty school and left me there for a while. Color, cut, mani, pedi, facial, face wax, the works. Heh. I'm still getting used to the cut, but I like it a lot.

Alright, gang, spill the beans. What are you all planning on doing/have already done?

This year I found out that apparently my mom likes a few songs by Plain White T's, so I made a mixed CD of other "more modern" bands and songs and mailed it to her. Took me a few hours to actually get the dang thing burned, as apparently my computer doesn't like burning CDs. Plus, I had to wait in line at the post office, with other people presumably mailing things for Mother's Day... it was great.

In my homeroom class, my teacher told us to bring a stamped envelope. We all wrote letters to our moms, and addressed them to them from us. My teacher mailed them for us. My mom cried when she opened the letter this morning. So did I  :D

I got both of my sisters to come over and we took our mom out for a pedicure, coffee, a movie, and Chinese food.

My second time getting a pedicure, I think I kind of like them.

Happy Mother's Day, Steph, JL, and Ela. :)

I ended up calling my mom to wish her a Happy Mother's Day. Then, after the morning laziness wore off, I got out of bed and made her breakfast: strawberry shortcakes with powdered sugar. I was very proud of how pretty it came out and it supposedly tasted pretty good, too.

My little brother surprised us with a visit (yay!), followed by my older brother and nephews stopping by for about 6 hours. Of course, tons of phone calls for the mother to receive and make, so I just hung out with the little people.

my siblings and I pooled money for mothers day and fathers day gifts to get our parents about 200 in gift cards to target. The vacuum cleaner broke and while it's fixed now, Mom's always wanted a really nice Dyson pet hair type vacuum. So now they'll be able to get one. She's quite excited. :)

A day late but I was thinking of you all yesterday...

Happy Mother's Day to all our Pweb moms, whether present or future. I don't use the word "blessing" terribly often, or with some of the meaning others attach to it but I do want to say: It's been a true blessing getting to be in the audience, hearing your triumphs, your struggles, and your stories in general about your little ones. I have no doubts that you are all the best mom you can be to and for your children and you are all so lucky to have each other.

Thanks for being a part of Pweb. :)
