Re: Look what I got!
Monday Night I got back froma late movie and thought, "I wonder if that criterion sale has started." I checked BN.com and it had, 50% off sale had begun at midnight EST. Interestingly, their previous sale, Buy 2, Get 1 free, did not end until midnight PST. I put some titles in my cart and ...

Re: Wedding Planning!
Well we won't get wedding photos for a month yet, we just got a HD to ship off to our videographer so we can have a copy of all the raw footage as well, and we still haven't even gotten honeymoon pictures posted to facebook. And Renee's still in the middle of thankyous (I'm not allowed to do them), ...

Our work has been sending out emails scolding everyone not to connect to one of the six wifi networks for our floor with our phones or laptops. ethernet only, the smart phones were all clogging the system.

Hangovers are so so so much worse when you had a salty dinner, eat lots of salty chips and don't drink water as well. I knew all these things and still didn't forestall problems (I did try to stay up drinking water when I realized I was in for trouble the next day, didn't work out, fell asleep). Yes...

Here's our photographers' blog, it'll probably be another month yet before we get pictures and longer than that before we make the blog, but our engagement pics do have a blog entry on here.

LA fitness is our gym. :) I rather like the treadmills that have an interval setting, a lot easier to switch from walk to run speeds with a single preset button. I just did my second day of free weights, deadlift, press and chinups. Chinups are more difficult with a wedding ring on--ouch. Shooting f...

A Storm of Swords, my second favorite in the series. All you johnny come latelies get to enjoy five books while I had to wait eleven years to find out what happened to Bran and Jon. :/ Hunger Games was really excellent. The scale makes no sense at all. Districts stretch from appalachia to the rockie...

I'm finally caught up on Breaking Bad and now unsure what show I should move onto next, since the last season doesn't start for a month and even then, I have to wait for zero to watch it. I've put a hold on Falling Skies S1 but that might take a while to get to me. Maybe it's time to go back to BBT...

Yesterday we started to make progress on the infamous spare room.
This boss fight is going to take quite a long time.

I agree with you whole-heartedly about romance being the focus of recent novels (often to their detriment) and that most of those romances are poorly executed at that. I've just noticed a trend lately where if there is a female in a lead role, (and a strong female at that) she is usually emotionall...

I love my Kindle Touch a ton. Some of my summer reading always includes Terry Pratchett, the footnotes are tricky, because the touch screen isn't super sensitive, but it works with minimal frustration. I'm trying to control myself and not go buy all the discworld kindle titles immediately... in part...

4 days including today! we booked our Luau last night. Old LaHaina Lu'au. And ziplining, we went with the older ziplining tour because it was shorter (only 3.5 hours rather than 5) and less expensive. It was the first zipline in Maui, so they've technically 'lost' the ziplining arms race for most fa...

I got a 10% raise, I've been downplaying my expectations since I asked for it, telling myself I would really push for 3% if they weren't going to give me any raise at all, and I was conservatively hoping for about 5-7% max. I've been at this company a year now, I was already near the very top of the...

I agree on Men in Black III, better story, somewhat in the vein of MIIB, not as funny as the first movie. I think they did a great job with the villain and visually the film was wonderfully inventive in its production design. They made the story hinge on how much these two partners matter to each ot...

the first avengers movie clearly had to fulfill all the mallrats esque fanwank wet dream arguments about who would beat who in a fight. a myriad of questions were addressed, like: Can Hulk pick up Thor's Hammer? speaking of, Trader Joe's new all beef jumbo hotdogs are incredible. Not quite a mouthgasm, but very delicious, last night I made myself a burger made from Lindy & Grundy's 50/50 mix. That's 50% ground beef and 50% ground bacon. It was actually a bit much, I think a 70/30 blend in favor of beef ...

I am so tempted to go a half-cocked epic comparison of OSC's literary tendancy to give his most godlike/saintly characters planets to caretake (and have them have ways of 'scientifically' be able to live for millenia via sleep or relativity or whatever) which has been a common trope of his from Wort...

I love dill pickle relish! I'd never put sweet relish on hotdogs, sausages, burgers or anything, but I will put dill relish on all of the above. Dill relish on a hot dog with ketchup and mustard is amazing.

I used to lick the inside of the cheese packet when my mom made kraft macaroni and cheese. I'm not sure when the last time I had it fresh was, but I didn't really care for it--too brunt on the tastebuds, too rubbery in texture, the cheese flavor still has that unique cocaine addictive quality though...

I've used diskinternals to recover stuff from harddrives. Their NTFS reader at least allowed me to browse them, and move data to new HDs without having to purchase the recovery/restoration software.
