Re: Ender vs Bean
What the heck do you mean "before Ender's traumatic experience"? There's no such thing. From the time he was taken away from Val and the rest of his family and put into BS he was having traumatic experiences. You keep describing Bean's words "you're the best Ender" as patronising...

Riiiight..., c hm... yeah, okay. I never said you treated me like one just that I didn't like to think I was coming across as one. Yeah, sorry, I did lose it a bit. Really though, I didn't specify what I'd shoot them with so there were no actual death threats. I realise that this is a technicality an I probably look like I'm trying to make myself look not so bad, but I was aware of it even as I typed the word "SHOOT"....

Just to clear up some earlier posts: I do NOT believe that we will soon be seeing the arranged marriages of dead infants. Like I said, they were disturbing tangential side thoughts. I resent that Steve saw me as coming across as an idiot-class, right-wing, fundamentalist Christian, theocratic wannab...

Re: Ender vs Bean
D_e, you have presented some good points but I'm going to disagree with you. First of all, I'd like to say that I'm either handicapped or helped in my opinion of Bean because I read the EG novel and never actually read the short story, so my view of Bean is based on EG and the Shadow series only. Yo...

I don't think that those things logically follow from same-sex marriage... :? They don't, not directly anyway. They're just related and somewhat tangential. Interesting and rather disturbing thoughts really... that were sparked by stuff in general. I'm a firm believer (like Dirk Gently) of the FIoA...

TARDIS isn't cryogenics and you know it. At least, DW fans know it and anyone googling 'TARDIS' should know it. As it is, the concept of using time travel to avoid waiting for stuff is an attractive one, but who knows what the repercussions on one's self might be.

I don't use magical thinking or try to convince myself of anything because I want to believe it. I use logic just as much as anyone, atheist, agnostic or believer. Don't ask me to use logic to justify God's existence or my faith in it, you and others have been down that road and I didn't like the wa...

Re: Movies for the rest of the series
In fact, OSC intends to do exactly what Transky said, make an EG/ES movie. It would explain the story better, conversly reduce movie time and solve some inherrent problems. It would still be called "Ender's Game" but would use both the Ender and Bean storylines.

Dibs using the chicken! If that turns out to be the case, I think that we would be totally justified in smacking Gavin Hood about the head and neck with long slabs of raw meat.

Space-time is infiniet? I found this once: If space is infinite, the relative velocity of light is 0. If light-speed = 0 and motion in space × motion in time = light-speed... According to the nul factor law, one of these is 0. Since we appear to be moving through space and time, space must be finite...

Depends how old you are. There's a lot of Hunger Games hype and its a pretty good movie and an excellent book (sequels too). You may want to try the Alex Rider series (9 books) by Anthony Horrowitz. I'm not sure of the spelling of his name because I've only listened to the books. Welcome to Pweb, by...

I'm all for what BWB is saying. Also, clarify for me which religion allows the rape of virgins by priests. Now for simplicity of speech, can we call the God that we believe in personally (if we do believe in one) "God" and the general idea of god or a god(s) "Ish". This is a nice...

I don't cling to my faith because it is some kind of "security blanket". I've explained my reasons for belief and if they seem paradoxical and self-referential then that's because they are. Additionally, I don't "leave room in my formulas" or anyone else's to allow room for God, ...

Yes, but I took it as meaning that each Formic worker was free (and your fingers aren't!) so while you do control your fingers without enslaving them the HQ controls workers by enslaving them. Nice thoughts. I like them. And I guess I am a little impatient. I just try to move so quickly through stuff and the school thing doesn't help. Been away for a few days, no internet. Backlog of a few points to discuss: Colour of God: I guess we do instinctively attach physical attributes to things. Yeah, I think it just didn't hit as hard until the revelations in SiF, which I just finished. But you are right and it even describes first-hand the oppression of the HQ's presence in your mind. Apart from this piece of nastiness, I enjoyed SiF. But did OSC really realise what he was saying about En...

Eh, very exciting!
I've not heard of this comparison between EG and THG but it has its merits.
Read The Hunger Games, its great and better than the movie.
Read the rest of the Ender books too, they are fantastic and better than The Hunger Games.
P.S. Welcome to Pweb!
