Re: All I have to do is dream...
I had a dream last night that I was in Chicago on business, and I randomly ran into Alea. We spent the rest of the day just hanging out. This is odd, since I have never been to Chicago, nor met Alea in person. I'm taking it as a sign that I've been staying away from this place for too long.

Ali, the last info graphic at that link blows my mind! There is a DISTINCT difference between "Mary" "Merry" and "Marry." People really pronounce all three of those words identically?! :gasp: I'm really curious as to how you pronounce them. I don't know anyone who has ...

I think "adorkable" is my new favorite wordBecause it means to be. Just the whole idea of Lindsay trying to impress Daniel and crew and then her little brother and his friends being so hopelessly adorkable...I like the characters, it's a good show, it's just painful at times.

Re: Currently Reading / Just Read (Books/stories/whatever)
I was worried that the series was straying too far from its proven formula, which is: small myth arc reveals while Harry solved a mystery, great character development, and things mostly being to normal by the end with some significant changes. But it did not! Basically. I just love sinking back int...

I'm a die-hard Eagles fan, and hate the Cowgirls with a passion. The last few years have been disappointing, but I started watching football just after Andy Reid took over, and it'll be weird seeing someone else on the sidelines after 14 years. I really do hope he does well with a fresh start in Kan...

Argh! No no no no NO. NO. For no particular reason, I googled Atticus baby name 2012. SO MANY WEBSITES have it as a "hot" or "trending" name. It's even on a list of names for hipster babies! What. The. f***. In 2011, it was barely a blip on the baby name radar. It had just barel...

I'm thankful for Google.
Travelling to Canada for my brother's wedding, I didn't think about the fact that I wouldn't be able to use 3G/4G up there. The ability to download sections of Google maps to my phone over wifi before leaving the hotel was a life saver.

I'm from Eastern PA, and I've always heard George Washington. I think the first time I heard Columbus was from my girlfriend, who's from Iowa. I can make it work, but like others have said, it just sounds weird. I think it's because you end up holding the "um" for a long time, and it creat...

Re: Periodic Movie Review
I have a feeling the nerd-community reaction to this film is going to be vitriol on the level of Phantom Menace. I don't think it's going to be quite as bad as that. I definitely see the parallels, especially in how much they try to force a connection to the original trilogy. It's like they're wink...

I'm so glad they decided to include the songs in the movie, I got chills the first time I saw the dwarves singing! I know a lot of people just skip over the songs when they get to them, but they add so much to the atmosphere of the book.

My first thought when I heard about this was "at least George can't mess with them any more". He'll still be kept on as "creative consultant", but he won't be directing any more movies, which in my book is definitely a good thing. I am a little curious how they're going to handle...

Sending good thoughts to anyone in the northeast dealing with Sandy today. That's a pretty strong blanket statement, do you have examples? Time where the fact-checkers themselves are blatantly wrong? It's not really a matter of whether they're "biased." They're just wrong. (When they're not trying to spin their opinions as facts, that is.)
