NAFTA Super Highway and the North American Union

All right, so I will admit that I am not a 100% sure on where I stand on the issue, but I do know I do not like the secrecy and this information does affect Canada and Mexico, so you Canucks I want to hear your opinion as well.

I thought this idea was crazy and ridiculous, when I first heard about it, but I was doing my research and I learned the a little bit more about this. It is apparently a plan to connect the ports in Mexico to Canada and the US and completely bypass any national regulations.

So I have heard about the idea of a North American Union before and even now have mixed feelings about it, but these links make it sounds like it is also going on in secret, which is what I am completely appalled at.

Anyways, I am going to leave you be with these links for now and go ponder this issue some more. I just wanted to post this too let you discuss.

I also realize that some of you who have been around since 2004 may find it surprising that 1) I will post something like this and that 2) I would post mostly conservative sources.

What I want to know is how did you get ahold of a conspiracy before Sparrowhawk? Sparrow, get your s*** together, you're slacking off.

On a somewhat more serious note, does I-69 have anything to do with this? That's supposed to connect Canada to Mexico once it's built. We hear a lot about it here because it'll pass right though here and it's been in the planning stages for years. I believe they're supposed to start building the the Indy-Evansville segment sometime in the next few years.

Personally, I think globalization is a dangerous trend towards placing too much power into the hands of a very powerful few. This documentary does a better job of detailing why than I can, though I have formed many ideas on courses of action since seeing it:

The issue that we have come to believe that things are easier under a large, unified government, and indeed many things might be, but the way things are going, government has come to operate on the principle that serving the interests of the powerful serves the interests of the many, and until we correct that, I believe globalization and expansion needs to halt until we can properly structure a government to handle it in the ture spirit of democracy - with equal representation for all peoples - made more than possible through the advent of things like the internet and mass media.

A wise man once said that we should ask not what our country can do for us, but what we can do for our country. What we've forgotten is that a country is most principly, most sacredly the people that live in it, not the government that heads it.

If they want a free-trade superhighway, they should take a long, hard look at border crossing regs. Otherwise this is pretty dumb.
