I'm assuming the first week was survived. How'd it go?

Definitely survived. I love it.

It's a newly-created position and I'm the first one in it, so things are sort of all over the place right now as we try to figure out what it is I'm actually going to be doing. In the meantime, I'm doing a bit of everything.

I've already read a dozen manuscripts, brought one to the YA editor, and now he's bringing it before the board on Thurssday. Though I didn't know it at them time, the book is repped by my friend and former colleague at WH. So I'm really hopeful that the board will pick it up and the first book I'll have a hand in here will just be a super positive experience on all sides.

I'm also the de facto contracts manager now, which is interesting, but I think I'm equal to it. I've spent a lot of time creating a highly organized filing system (color-coded, alphabetized and all). We'll see how long I can manage to maintain it!

My coworkers run the gamut, but all are really lovely.

I am busy as a freaking bee, which is such a wonderful change.

Being on the other side of the fence is hard.

I'm in contract negotiations right now with WH. These people were my former coworkers, and they're still my close friends, but we're in the midst of some pretty savage back-and-forth right now. I feel the pull of dual allegiances, and I know I need to cut it out.

*Sigh*

If this deal goes south I will be so upset, because this is the first book that I found, here, and I love it so much.
