Presidential Election 2008

Is it too soon for this concept to start taking shape? Well, probably. But the first of the primary debates have already begun, the field is taking shape, and early opinions abound. So let's kick it off right for PWeb's inevitable U.S. election conversation.
In the red corner, the incumbent party, weighing in under the weight of an unpopular war and record-low approval ratings, is the Republican Party. The contenders (with a Drudge Report skeleton poll rating last night's debate winners) are:

Senator Sam Brownback - 2% 1,278
Jim Gilmore, former Governor of Virginia - 2% 897
Rudy Giuliani, former mayor of New York City - 20% 11,304
Mike Huckabee, former Governor of Arkansas - 4% 2,113
Representative Duncan Hunter - 3% 1,680
Senator John McCain - 6% 3,426
Representative Ron Paul, M.D. - 17% 9,682
Mitt Romney, former Governor of Massachusetts - 35% 19,673
Representative Tom Tancredo - 5% 2,942
Tommy Thompson, former Governor of Wisconsin - 6% 3,488

Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House

The biggest surprise was how well Ron Paul did in the Drudge poll following the debate. Third out of the whole field isn't bad. Perhaps the dark horse of the race? I certainly hope so. I don't think I, personally, would vote for any of the other Republicans.
In the blue corner, the Democrats; weighing in under a failure to stop an unpopular war and an unpopular President, and struggling to find a coherent voice. Here are the nominees:
Hillary Rodham Clinton
Barack Obama
John Edwards
Bill Richardson
Joe Biden
Chris Dodd
Dennis Kucinich
Mike Gravel
Yeah. I wouldn't vote for any of them either.
In the no-ones-going-to-give-a-s*** corner, the possible independent candiates: with no one other than a Republican or Democrat elected to president in what, like a 150 years, you'd think Americans would want to, I don't know, try something else now?:
Michael Badnarik, Libertarian Party
Jerome R. Corsi, Constitution Party
Elaine Brown, Green Party, former Black Panther leader
Micheal Moriarty, Independent, former actor
And, the most interesting:
Jonathon "The Impaler" Sharkey - self-proclaimed satanist, "sanguinary vampyre", Hecate Witch and professional boxer as well as wrestler (under the name Rocky "Hurricane" Flash) and perennial candidate for public office.
Ahem. So. Would you vote for any of these tools or what?
