It should be mostly fine with the pasta still in it, although the pasta will be extra soft when it's time to eat it. Next time, though, follow Ali's advice and add the pasta after defrosting.

I may try that one as we move into soup season. Yum!

What I may do is leave out the noodles before freezing, so they can be freshly al-dente when I reheat the soup.
Thanks! That was the one thing I was really worried about!

I really love soups also. Will never knew there were so many different types of soups before he moved in with me.

Soups freeze great, though adding the pasta after reheating is a great idea I probably wouldn't have though of!

Yum!!

I made almost 80 mini hand pies today. Mostly zucchini. But I did put peanut butter and nutella in 4 of them. :)

I re-read my post and I thought I should clarify, I didn't put peanut butter and nutella in the zucchini pies, but in their own pie crusts.

Love pie ! any pie, My pal Bill always announces my arrival "here comes that pie eatin bastard". Julie and the girls went to Greenbluff Saturday and bought a load of red haven peaches. They are so so good this year, when ya bite into one the juicy goodness runs down your arm. Julie has been canning peaches , making jam , pies cakes, ever since. I should be sick of them by now but I'm getting nervous about what i'll do when they're all gone!

I currently have homemade mayonnaise "pasteurizing" and homemade bread rising. The BLTs tomorrow are going to be AWESOME!

Tonight we're having grilled salmon that I caught on Saturday with homemade risotto and homebrewed beer.

This weekend I'm going to try my hand at smoking some of the salmon on our grill and I might try the homemade pasta from the kitchen challenge thread. And I'll be drinking more homebrew.

Going to be firing up the brewery again soon to make another batch of beer. I'm excited for all of these things. Life is good when you eat good food.

How does one do that? The pasteurization of it, I mean, I know how to make mayo.

All this talk of pies is making me want pie. And I really don't need pie. And yeah, chess pie is a very southern thing, and a very yummy thing. :)

"They" say that leaving the fresh made mayo on the counter for 8 hours allows the acid of the lemon juice to kill any bacteria. I don't know how true this us, but I'm not that scared of raw egg (when I'm not pregnant). Cookie dough is a staple in our house, as are runny yolk eggs.

Noodle, you makin' me some rootbeer? ;)

I made rootbeer once and it came out flat. I need to try again, but my wife was so upset about the last batch that she doesn't want me to try again.

Fortune favors the bold as they say. So I'm going to tackle the root beer again. Maybe this weekend since I'll be stuck in the kitchen area tending to the salmon.

...and homebrewed beer.
So, this has been one of my goals for many years now: learning how and then making my own beer. Any suggestions or tips or directions that you could send my way?

Ohhh it's a great hobby. Not only is it fun to do, but at the end you get beer. and really good beer. I could go on for quite a bit, so I think it's probably best that we start a separate thread for this topic so we don't crowd out this one.

I don't have the time to make a detailed post at the moment, but I'll come back on later tonight and write something up.

Dang it that you live so far away. I want home brewed rootbeer. Everyone around here that makes it just uses some extract and dry ice. It's good, but it's like making box mac and cheese compared to that bacon mac and cheese I made a couple of weeks ago. I want to try REAL home brewed rootbeer.

Actually, I want to make my own, but the herbs are going to be expensive to get, so I need to budget in order to do it.

I'd like to make some one day, but Nicole hates Root beer, so it'd only be me drinking it.

Also, where does one get Sassafras oil?

I'm sure online somewhere. I haven't researched it in depth, yet, just browsed enough to know I couldn't afford to do it yet!

Yeah, I haven't either. I just know that some still use it raw, which I wouldn't do.

i haven't been there in a long time, but in madison there's a store called the wine and hops shop all the home wine and beer making ingredients and items you could ever need. and they have the stuff for making root beer. it's a neat place.

I've been enjoying following Wil Wheaton's recent adventures with his son in making beer. He says it turned out very well and he has plans to make more.

Take a little flour, a couple eggs, and a splash of vanilla. Then mix in enough sugar and butter to supply Liechtenstein for a month. Bake.

Perhaps, if you'd like I can share the recipe for the next kitchen challenge?

I did look it up on wiki. If you add chocolate chips, it sounds vaguely similar to Tollhouse Pie.

I'd be glad to share the root beer, but before I give you the wrong impression, the only batch I've done of root beer is just from the extract.

I have big shoes to fill since we can regularly get Sprecher Root Beer here and that's the best Root Beer out there. If I homebrew the root beer I have to make it close to the flavor of the sprecher, or it's just not worth it.

psh.

And also, chess pie is not a pie, even a little. Which is why I can still eat it.
