Database rollback (again)

So yeah, pweb broke again :(

But now it's fixed! :)

But I can't access the database we were using (I don't know why; don't have control over it) :(

But I have a backup! :)

But it's a little old (early in the morning on Monday, Nov 17 2014), so we lost some stuff. :(

But that's pretty good, and certainly better than nothing. I've gone ahead and restored the db to one I have control over, and pointed the forum over to that. So anything that was posted on 17 Nov or after (for about a week) was lost, but the forum is back again. So :) I guess?

As mentioned in the note I put up, I never really tried to contact Ami or anything, since usually that goes nowhere. It's possible there was a reason the db became inaccessible and maybe it will become usable again, but for now, I just don't know. (If anyone wants to know, feel free to try to contact her.)

Oh also, I only updated the phpbb configuration. I don't know if anything else on the site uses the mysql database stuff, so other things might still be broken. If they are and someone reading this knows how to configure them, just look at the configuration in config.php, which should tell you what you need to know to reach the new database.

:kisses: Thanks, mister. Love your face.

Going to be honest here, I was most scared of the forum losing Kirsten's posts this go around, so I'm pretty happy that doesn't appear to have happened.

:point&laugh:

I don't know why that made me laugh so hard but it did.

It was pretty hilarious, Steph. zero started poking around and I thought he might even post something until he accidentally landed in the Pweb Kids thread and high-tailed it out of Pweb altogether. Maybe I should explain that I can't become with child if either of us reads about other people's children.

I could have sworn it was one of those things that was contagious over text. Huh!

Anyway, weekly backups: cPanel's little friend to all database admins.

Is anyone else still having issues? Pweb is almost unusably slow for me :(

The emotional roller-coaster that is PWeb. Yes, I'm experiencing some slowness as well (late 90's dial-up flashbacks) but it's tolerable.

Hey, Claire (and anyone else having intolerable slowness issues): is the issue constant or intermittent? I'm assuming constant for you, Claire. Any error messages involved (if so, happen to recall what they said) or just slow to load?

zero might be able to look into it but he needs a bit more info on the issue. I told I him I occasionally have slowness but not terribly often, and I have occasional server errors. Next time I get one, I'll give that info to him so he can check up on things but in the meantime, any info on what happens, how it happens, when it happens, etc. would be helpful. :)
