Re: Pweb Kids
You asked for it:
One day, I suddenly heard a 'clop clop clop', and found my 18 month old had put on Mommy's high heels, and decided to perform her own version of "Pat-a-cake", which goes, "Roll...Pat...a BABY CAKE!"
She learned from her 17 year old aunt the skill of not only knocking on a door, but eavesdropping afterwards.
And this is what I often find when I go to get her up from a nap.

Very, very, very cute, Taal. Also, I gotta vote your daughter video series as "Best use of the new YouTube embedding feature."

I've already figured out how to do a backwards D: bMan, she's not too bad at all. Next up, backwards alphabet!
And a backwards B, look at that: d

*gasp*(I can say the alphabet backwards. It's my only special talent.)
ME, TOO!
I freaking love doing that. It never fails to impress. Plus, you know, going through things that are alphabetical is somehow a little easier for it.

Re: Pweb Kids
So my wife has had a set of Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs plastic banks from when she was a kid, that Anne has fallen in love with. Because the first one she brought to me was Dopey, I gave that name when she asked me what it was. She thought that was hilarious, and called him "Dokie". Now, all seven of the Dwarfs are "Dokies".
She's been setting the Dokies up in pairs, and arranging them around the house. Today, I decided to give her some context, and put on the DVD of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs while she was playing with the Dokies.

Re: Pweb Kids
I'm pretty excited by how excited he is to read it. It will take him some time, just because the size of the font is a little hard for a 6 year old and the length is a little overwhelming for him. Normally, a book that size he writes off as too long. But he loves the movie so much and he's WAY excited about the map in the middle, so he's taken on the challenge. I promised him a "Princess Bride" Party when he's done, so if anyone wants to join us for the movie, MLT's, Miracle Pills (aka peanut butter balls or cookie dough truffles), feel free to dress up and join us!

Re: Pweb Kids
Steph, I don't know how I missed that Tyler is reading this book. Awesome! (And, for the records, I want to come to your Princess Bride party SO much!)
I love this movie and I love the book. It's the second book David and I ever read aloud together, and it's really, really ideal for that.
Is Tyler starting at the beginning with the chapters about Goldman and his ficticious family, or is he skipping right to the story of Buttercup and Westley?

you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

He started at the beginning, but he said it was boring, so he skipped to the Buttercup part. I couldn't fault him for that. He is a 6 year old boy, after all!

that reminds that as a child I had the habit of rearranging the letters so they were in the proper order from about the age of three or so. even at other people's houses. The letters were all mixed up! so bad, must fix puzzle letters by unscrambling the mess.
I'm in awe of Tyler reading that book at six. I was reading boxcar children and thought that was pretty awesome and grown up.

Adam, I totally can't wait to see what your kids are like. They are going to be pretty freaking awesome.
I'm in awe of Tyler's abilities, too. Unfortunately, he hasn't had much time to read Princess Bride since that day. He has reading assignments from his normal teacher and from his 3rd grade teacher that's working with him for reading. Between those every day, math, spelling and needing time to just be a kid playing, he's not getting a lot of time to free read. Maybe over Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks he can finish it.

Re: Pweb Kids
This week, during Thanksgiving break, we're doing science lessons at home! We are learning how sugar acts at different temperatures. Yesterday, we boiled sugar syrup to test how sugar at the different stages acts when dropped into cold water. Each day, we are making a candy that requires being cooked to each of the stages of cooked sugar. Today is fudge. The rest of the list includes caramels, marshmallows, salt water taffy and toffee. So far the boys and I are having fun and Brian's looking forward eating all of our scientific results!
