What songs have you recently heard that are now your "favorites"?

What songs do you love that will always be special (or cool, for you macho types! :P )

For me my new favorites are:

"All These Years" by Sawyer Brown (Actually the song is a few years old but I just heard it)

"Last Last Time" by Bleu Edmondson (Local singer)

My all time favorite song that will always be my favorite is:

"I Don't Have to Be Me 'til Monday" by Steve Azar

Yes, they're all country

Dreamin by Weezer is pretty much my newest favorite

Better as a Memory is another great song, very me.

"Someday" by No More Kings is my most recent favorite, I think.
"Icarus" by Jason Webley shall always remain a favorite.
"Shadow Stabbing" by Cake is definitely a keeper.

And, on the subject of Weezer, "El Scorcho" is probably my favorite by them. I'm saddened that not many struck a chord with me off of Red.

Crazy by Gnarls Barkley
Still Alive by Johnathan Coulton (sung by GLaDOS)
Pork and Beans by Weezer
Fett's Vette by MC Chris
Pi by Hardnphirm
Lolipop by Mika (though I am embarrassed to say it.)

There's a couple of others, but I can't think of them at the moment.

*hangs head*
Sorry, sir...
Although unless you're going to stalk me and come over here, how would I watch it with you?

Wait, over here? Are you telling me you're not a small black ball of spite that lives on my bean bag and watches TV when I'm not home? Maybe there's two darth petras.

Oh, you mean my good twin. I wondered where I had put her...

As songs go, I've just re-discovered "Alive" and "Youth of the Nation" by POD.

This song never fails to make me tear up. :) :(

In Color - Jamey Johnson

I said, "Grandpa, what's this picture here?
It's all black and white and ain't real clear.
Is that you there?" He said, "yeah, I was eleven.
When times were tough back in thirty-five;
that's me and Uncle Joe just tryin to survive
a cotton farm. in the great depression."

If it looks like we were scared to death,
like a couple of kids just trying to save each other,
you should have seen it in color.

"Aw and this one here was taken overseas,
in the middle of hell in nineteen forty-three.
In the wintertime. You can almost see my breath.
That was my tail gunner Ole Johnny McGee,
he was a high school teacher from new orleans,
and he had my back right through the day we left."

If it looks like we were scared to death,
like a couple of kids just trying to save each other,
you should have seen it in color.
A picture's worth a thousand words,
but you can't see what those shades of gray can't cover.
You should have seen it in color.

"This one is my favorite one,
this is me and grandma in the summer sun,
all dressed up on the day we said our vows.
Can't tell it here but it was hot that June.
That rose was red and her eyes were blue.
Just look at that smile. I was so proud."

"That's the story of my life.
Right there in black and white."

If it looks like we were scared to death,
like a couple of kids just trying to save each other,
you should have seen it in color.
A picture's worth a thousand words
but you can't see what those shades of gray can't cover.
You should have seen it in color

I had a great music video idea for that song but it probably would have been way over their budget and...I don't know anything about camera's or making videos and movies.

I have many good videos in my head that will never be made.

How similar this is to Carbon Leaf's The War Was in Color makes me wonder if she got the inspiration from the song:

I see you found
A box of my things
Infantries, tanks,
smoldering airplane wings

These old pictures are cool, tell me some stories
Was it like the old war movies?

Sit down, son
Let me fill you in

Where to begin?
Let's start with the end
This black and white photo
Don't capture the skin

From the flash of a gun
To a soldier who's done
Trust me grandson
The war was in color

Kid Rock - Amen
Habitual offenders, scumbag lawyers with agendas
I'll tell you sometimes people I don't know what's worse
Natural disasters or these wolves in sheep clothes pastors
Now damn it I'm scared to send my children to church
And how can we seek salvation when our nations race relations
Got me feeling guilty of being white
But faith in human nature, our creator and our savior, I'm no saint
But I believe in what is right

I recently heard "If I Ever Fall In Love Again" by Shai while at a gas station (of all places!). I was reminded how much I love this song - the a capella version is the best!

I have to admit, that somewhat shocked me to read, Ela. I had to blink a few times, even.

I never expected anyone on Pweb to go for that sort of song, except maybe Cameron (because I know he listens to a wide range of music).

I enjoy it too, esp. a capella. I liked it when I first heard it and then much later on danced to it with a high school crush at one of our formals.

Epiphany, A Little Priest, and Johanna from the Sweeney Todd soundtrack. Because Johnny Depp can actually sing. Weirdly enough.

And there's a few Monty Python I like but can't listen to because there's small children around constantly.

90's R&B? That's like, the majority of my cassette collection!

I'm a little surprised at your reaction, also, Gravity Defier.

What type of music are Pwebbers supposed to like (assuming we all have the same taste, which I doubt)?

It's not a matter of "supposed to like," really.

I just think, over the past 5 years of me talking about music with Pwebbers or viewing music threads, the vast majority of Pwebbers have not liked R&B, Hip Hop, Rap, or anything else in what I consider to be that family of musical genres.

(Cameron sticks out as being different. So does Nicole, but she doesn't post anymore. I honestly forgot that Kelly tends to be open to all sorts of music, too, which is weird because I remember thinking we like a lot of the same stuff when it comes down to it.)

I think it's tended toward classical, folk, rock, country and even a bit of pop if I have to classify what I think (<- important part there) are the general tastes of Pwebbers.
